The eye was still well-connected enough that there was no need to remove it entirely. Hana very carefully placed it into the socket, green chakra knitting things back together. She frowned, sensing the possibility for infection in the area behind the eye, and poured more of her chakra into the kitten. Eyes narrowed, she considered the cat. "I'm going to want to see her at least once daily this week, and you need to keep an eye out if she goes home with you. It shouldn't get infected, but if it does, I want it caught immediately."
Now came the hard part. Hana hadn't even bothered trying to feel for the optic nerve or check for vision yet. She lay down flat on her stomach, eye-to-eye with the kitten, and picked up the light from among the tools she'd laid out. Shining it into the kitten's eyes, the healthy eye was as responsive as it should be, but pupil size didn't change in the other eye. She sighed.
"I'll try." Hana couldn't promise anything else. She gauged her chakra stores. Hana had enough chakra for another diagnostic and one attempt, but that was all that was left. Briefly she considered taking the kitten to the office and asking for help. No one there had any more experience with optical problems than she did, though, and no one on duty today had more surgical experience.
