"Because they are more effective than mouse traps." And leaving traps everywhere made Fugaku feel a little paranoid. "And something is eating things in Mikoto's garden." Fugaku blamed the old house and the lack of traffic it saw. When children were running here and there, vermin stayed better hidden or found quieter houses. Fugaku glanced at the happen kitten in Adela's hands.

"They will be trouble until they're older." It would be almost like having children again, only, the kittens didn't have thumbs. "They should be ready to clean things out when winter really sets in and the rodents get more adventurous looking for food." Then, by the time spring time came and the rodents were less forward, the kittens would have enough practice in hunting that they shouldn't have much trouble keeping the rodent population down.
