Juugo actually almost flinched at the sudden gesture, and stopped in his tracks for a moment, but he caught up quickly.

The hat didn't stay on his head though, because he took it off after a few moments and held it over his bird friends, who fluffed their feathers happily and chirped in thanks. His arm would probably get tired eventually, but Juugo was smiling again, because he'd made his friends happy.
