Personally, Itachi made a habit of apologizing to people who he offended, even when he didn't mean to offend them. Usually things went smoother that way. Now it seemed to have made things worse.

"Most of the time underestimating someone simply because of their age would get me stabbed or worse, so please consider an apology me getting off lightly for assuming." Itachi spoke softly but lightly, as if none of this were a big deal. "And if I really hadn't wanted anyone watching, then I should have found a more private place to pull out stitches..." That was probably setting a bad example for future generations, wasn't it? Just yank out your stitches when they annoy you. Perfectly acceptable act.

Itachi tipped his head towards the river. "It's a good place to train, and I wouldn't want to keep someone from sharpening their skills." So he would conceded the space to the younger generation, as he seriously doubted she wanted him to sit around watching her.
