It said something about the current state of things in Kirigakure that Nanako had been selected as a first-contact option. It made sense on paper, certainly; she had a very approachable, gentle, calming base personality, and was good at forming bonds with both friends and foes, the latter usually taking place in an interrogation room. By and large, she would be a perfect example of a gentle, enticing olive branch to this new, strange band of people. So long as they didn't set her off, but after some careful calculations at the Missions desk, they thought this would be a safe arrangement.
Still, Nanako had been told to make a grand gesture of some sort, as non-=threatening as she could manage.
So she had opted to use her larger, newer summon to ferry her over to the island itself, perching demurely on one carefully raised tentacle as the gigantic beast swam on. She had it stop a few hundred feet out from the shore, when she could pick out figures on the beach, and leisurely cut her palm and let the blood drip down, down, down to the waves below, summoning several massive jellyfish in decreasing size.
She leapt down to land on the cap of the largest and had the kraken raise itself up out of the water. She patted its beak gently and dismissed it, before turning and leaping across the string of jellyfish, each one dismissing after she had left. The last one was too big to get ver close, so she simply walked across the top of the water after it had puffed away, meandering her way to shore with a graceful gait. She stopped a few feet short of where the waves licked at the sand, and gave a short respectful bow.
"Hello. My name is Shishito Nanako. My village, Kirigakure sent word ahead of my visit." She straightened upland gestured to the beach. "May I come ashore?"
