Test Drive Post!
Sunshineverse | ||||||||
Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right? Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header: Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation Then you comment around and play with everyone else! If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country. One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on. And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application.

WELL HELLO THERE STRANGER
Unforgivable.
[ It was a soft, edged statement as she moved soundlessly down the hall toward the door, intent upon escorting herself outside from the Hokage's office now that she had checked in and delivered the documents to the appropriate officials. She already knew where the inn was and she was due to check in there at some point that day. That there was a festival afoot, however, and that merited investigation for the promise of sweets. Thus, her attention was turned to the village proper, a bit of irritation fading for every careful step as she turned her eyes curiously, quietly about. Just what was Konoha celebrating, anyway? ]
Re: WELL HELLO THERE STRANGER
For the moment, though, he wasn't concerned with any of that. He had an uninterrupted day to enjoy the festival, unless circumstances changed, and he fully intended to do so. So when he noted a clearly foreign shinobi coming from the opposite direction as he was, heading for the door in an unmistakeably foul mood and spitting a simple word like a curse..... Well, he couldn't help but be curious. Hizashi raised an eyebrow, slowing a bit to allow her to head out the door first; she hardly seemed in the mood to be inconvenienced.]
I beg your pardon?
no subject
I've been made to endure a familiar inconvenience. Are you a sensor?
[ And there it was. The bluntness many sand shinobi were known for and with little more than a pause before it unveiled itself. Really, though, she was curious. ]
no subject
The question, blunt as it was, only made him blink in evident confusion; he turned back to look at her, tone so matter-of-fact it was as though he expected her to understand purely from that correction alone, and to be able to gloss over that fact without further comment. It wasn't terribly often that he traveled to other countries, after all--Hiashi needed him to stay close for the most part, so most extended trips were in the capacity of guard and aide, when it came right down to it.
Still, Kumogakure had known of and envied Konoha for the Byakugan, once upon a time. Surely Sunagakure must know of it, too?]
A sensor.....? I'm a Hyuuga. What inconvenience is that, if I may ask?
no subject
It isn't an inconvenience at all. [ She returned, a more pleasant tint adopted for the combination of her curiosity and for the simple fact that he was not at all to blame for her current predicament. A brief pause, then -- ] Are you strong, Hyuuga-san?
[ A legitimate question, in her mind, for the lack of an identifier as to his rank. It was always interesting to hear from another shinobi their description of their strength as well; though, she was mindful that this was perhaps not the best time to ask. Still, she had posed the question and how simple or complicated an answer he gave was up to him. It wasn't as though he couldn't disengage if he found her too troublesome, after all. ]

[Hizashi trailed off, shaking his head a little in return. He had thought something else was the inconvenience? Something familiar she had mentioned, something unforgivable? Her venomous hissing at first had seemed to suggest it. But if she really wanted to drop it.....
Well, he wouldn't push the issue. Far be it from him to pry too far into the matters of a foreigner who was probably here on diplomatic business. Hizashi bowed a little to Kazue, politely--a shallow tip of his head and shoulders, speaking more to uncertainty and mild confusion than anything else. He didn't quite seem to know how to answer the question, given that it honestly seemed more suited for a younger child.....
Still, at least part of his uncertainty was calculated and deliberate, the sort of awkward, embarrassed hedging of someone flattered at the question but still doing their best to mind their manners.]
I..... ah, I suppose so.....? My name is Hizashi; it's a pleasure to meet you.
no subject
Kazue.
[ For all that her manners had been lacking up to that point, they seemed to return with a proper bow for the difference in their apparent age. Her mother had taught her manners. She was aware of them and of the uncertainty, the awkward, embarrassed hedging that drew something of a smile out of her. A curious reply, but not one she would press at the moment. ]
It's nice to meet you, Hyuuga-san. I'm sorry if I've kept you. I'm sure you've better things to do than entertain a foreign kunoichi.

[And that much could certainly stand to wait a bit, now, couldn't it? Hizashi looked towards the colorful display, not far off in the heart of the village proper. He regarded Kazue again with a more welcoming smile, featureless eyes taking her in at a glance. Long red hair, a rather small stature, a Sunagakure headband..... difficult to tell rank, but clearly fairly young, not that age was any indicator of rank or experience levels. Perhaps around Neji's age, give or take a few years?
Well, far better to err on the side of being too polite, than not polite enough, especially with a foreigner. Who knew who she might actually be, personally or in relation to whatever brought her here?]
What brings you to Konoha, Kazue-san?
no subject
An extended courier mission. I expect I'm going to be here a while considering the timing. Things tend to slow down around festival time in my experience.
[ Her eyes darted briefly toward the village interior and the colorful display. Turning her eyes back to Hizashi again, she paused, offering a slight shake of her head and an easier smile that was bright, colored with a bit of amusement. ]
And please, Hyuuga-san. There's no need to be so formal with me. I'm fifteen.
no subject
[Hizashi probably sounded like her Jounin sensei about then, didn't he? At least he wasn't discounting that work could and even should be done during festivals, but..... Still, if you couldn't enjoy the slowed pace and festivities, then when could you enjoy things? Festivals were blessed times where whole villages came together in celebration, after all.
Hizashi's smile softened apologetically as he spread his hands, at once a silent 'what can you do?' gesture and an invitation to correct him. So she was no more than a year or so behind Neji, then.....]
Age is hardly a measure of status, I've found; it seemed safest not to presume..... What would you have me call you, then?
no subject
I'm looking forward to getting back to the grind.
[ Not that she planned on ceasing while she was in Konoha, but festivities usually brought with them the promise of some rather interesting foods that would no doubt result in a minute pause of some sort. Perhaps more, if her interest was piqued by other things, but she wasn't about to stop training simply because she in foreign territory.
Pausing at his second question, she looked a bit thoughtful, offering a light shake of her head. ]
I'll leave that up to you. If it's alright, I'd prefer to earn that honorific, though. [ Because things earned carried more weight. A matter of pride? Perhaps. ]
no subject
Like hearkened to like, after all, and he could remember his own determination to make a name for himself, past simply that of Hyuuga. The thought was a little nostalgic, and too much pride never did anyone any favors..... but sometimes, not being able to have any at all was intolerable. Still, he'd default to the next natural honorific she could have, even if it implied a fair bit more familiarity than the two of them really had.
Did he really sound so much like her Jounin sensei anymore?]
With an attitude like that, I don't doubt that you'll earn it sooner than later, Kazue-chan.
[He gestured down the path towards the festival gathering in invitation; there really was no point in standing around outside the Hokage's tower, now that they had been introduced.]
Would you care to join me?
