Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right? Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header: Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation Then you comment around and play with everyone else! If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country. One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on. And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application.

Still, he sometimes hunted out here for Itachi, since even if he was on far better terms with the family these days, it didn't mean he had no favorites. Thus why he was even peeking over his shoulder in the first place.

Itachi flexed his hand. His thumb now had full range of motion without the painful catch of the stitches and only the barest pull of healing flesh. Much better. "There is a reason I'm doing this out here."
Itachi turned and stood so he wouldn't be staring up the Hokage's nose. "Did you need me for something, Hokage-sama?" Itachi always liked to be cautiously too respectful to his cousin, as not everyone was happy with Obito being Hokage. Itachi made certain he always showed proper respect and support.
....I JUST REALIZED I PLAYED WITH YOU BEFORE. ON BAKERSTREET.
Mostly.
It meant that the aborted move ended up being a hand on the younger man's shoulder instead as he gave it a squeeze though. "Just wanted your company Itachi, unless you're busy, of course."
DID WE? Was it a road trip meme?
"Normally when people come looking for me they want more than the pleasure of my company..." Which was a very debatable pleasure, as Itachi could count his close friends on one hand, and that was including family. "I don't have any where to be."
Nooo pretty sure it was a rare muse meme!
"And since when am I grouped into that collection? If I was going to try and pelt a mission at you, I would have said so, I wouldn't hide it under spending time with you."
Oooh, there!
Apologizing with more sincerity seemed like it would make things more awkward. Itachi draw a blank on some polite nicety to say.
Yes, I believe you played with my Mikoto
A smile came to his face then, though it was a little sad. "It really sucks I've been so busy you've started to forget that."
Yes! That was me. C:
"Cute?" Itachi didn't quite splutter over the word, but it was a close thing.

"And yes cute. I babysat you a lot before you went off to Academy you know. You'll always be cute." He did release him though, seeing his uneasiness. "You're never going to outgrow that particular outlook, sorry Itachi."

He supposed he was cute little cousin Itachi to Obito in the same way Sasuke would always be his little brother, usually pictured first as five and getting into constant trouble. Well, if we were always going to be that small child to Obito...
"So I can go back to sticking suckers in the hair of people I dislike?" Itachi asked with a grin tugging at the corner of his mouth. Itachi clearly remembered being told many times not to do that again, and blithely doing it anyway. After getting candy stuck in their hair, people usually put him down instantly. Itachi had actually conveyed his intents and wishes to people better before he started talking regularly.

tl;dr
"I have my moments," Itachi promised. "It's much easier to be what people expect me to be." This sounded cowardly, but when he was what people expected, they didn't look too carefully at him. He'd been scrutinized growing up, put on display by his family to win them prestige and show the Uchiha were still strong enough to produce such a genius. Itachi was now glad for people to glance, see he was still the same as he had always been, and move on. A healthy amount of paranoia played into it as well. The less people thought about him as anything but what he presented himself as--the serious Uchiha heir--the less likely they were to realize he had motivations and thoughts different from the "typical Uchiha" ones. Or, more correctly, their perception of the typical Uchiha. Against an opponent, it could be a potent advantage, and with his family, it kept him aware of all grumbles and malcontent. To them he was odd, maybe a little too Konoha sympathetic, but he was theirs.
Still, it suddenly seemed a limiting way to act. Was it cowardly to observe some actions or simply listen to some word not agreed with without protesting it? There were times when he'd chosen not to speak or act immediately, but to wait. Sometimes he waited to ask advice on how exactly things should be done, and sometimes he waited to act to not draw attention to himself. Were his actions at those times better or simply easier? Did he miss chances to influence people or defuse problems? Probably. Conversely how many fights or incidents had he avoided or avoided aggravating by biting his tongue and telling someone else what was going on? Sometimes when Itachi sounded ideas off Shisui, Itachi's perceived best solution was more or less disastrous.
Maybe he relied too much on Shisui's judgement when it came to complex people problems. It wasn't as if he were incapable of acting on his own or making his own decisions, but he sometimes had a sense he hadn't reached the right answer and was missing some vital tidbit of information--better to wait and get a second opinion. People didn't have rules. They were messy and emotional and the fact that Itachi could make Shisui mad enough to stop talking to him spoke volumes about how awful Itachi could be with people. Being the Uchiha genius was safer for everyone. Easier. More comfortable. Better?
Itachi realized he'd been staring intensely at Obito's collarbones. He shifted his gaze back to his cousin's eyes.
A joy to read~
"That's true, but you're a creative person, and it always makes me sad to see that stifled by the family."

"My family stifles me only as much as I let them." Itachi defended them automatically. That could be a lie, but they were his family. He would never be able to fully shrug off the duty he felt to them, but he could leave, live out of their influence. But, if Obito wanted evidence of creativity from Itachi, that could be arranged.
"Obito..." Itachi bit the tip of his tongue to stop any honorifics. 'You shouldn't worry so much about me. I won't say I'm happy everyday, or there aren't things in my life I despise or resent, but for the most part I'm happy." The trees were green, the river was cold and clear. If he went home his parents would be there, maybe even Sasuke. Konoha was peaceful, even if there were and always would be nasty pulls of tension running through here and there, but overall things were nice. For a child who had known only war for the first years of his life, this was a paradise.

He tilted his head to he could meet Itachi's eyes. "Just take it for what it is. I care, and as long as you're happy, that's enough."
