Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right?

Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header:
Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation

Then you comment around and play with everyone else!

If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country.

One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on.

And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application.

Rin wasn't entirely convinced that he needed more breaks in his life, but he wasn't one to completely ignore an opportunity to slack off when it presented itself. After all, it wasn't as if he hadn't just finished up his weapons practice for the day. It wasn't like he slacked off all week either! He was working hard, kicking butt, and taking names!

But even butt-kickers like himself needed some kind of down time. There weren't a lot of dining spots in this part of Kiri but there were enough food carts to grab Rin's attention long enough to have him order a quick snack. He sat by the side of the road, taking little note of his surroundings.

He tried to keep up his guard, but it was getting late and he was so sleepy... besides, it wasn't as if he couldn't defend himself if need be. Rin was confident enough in his own skills to allow himself to relax a little more than usual.

Kisame recognized the kid pretty quickly. After all, he had a bit of a reputation, didn't he? Nothing like Kisame's, not yet, but it was in Kisame's interest to keep track of kids that were good with swords. If the Seven were to continue they'd all need to pick disciples eventually.

On the other hand, the kid was looking a little too relaxed. Sleepy almost, and even in Kiri that was never a good idea. So Kisame decided to try out a test, and came forward quietly as he could. Would Rin notice before he spoke up?

"Taking a break, Rin-kun?"

The setting sun wasn't helping him stay awake, but he remained as diligent as he could manage. His empty stomach gnawed at him, keeping him alert even when he'd rather just close his eyes -

- shit, damn, when did he close his eyes?

How long had he been sitting outside? It couldn't have been more than a few minutes, but time seemed to go by too slowly. Especially now that he was starting to feel his whole body give in to rest. That was no good. What if --

-- there was someone there.

Rin froze for a moment, instantly going on high alert. He tried to keep up the slacken posture he had a moment ago, but there was no hiding the way his eyes scanned over the area.

Great, figures that when he thinks he can take a break, he really can't. Rin turns to glare in the direction of the Disturber of the Relaxing Time (did they want to start a fight?) but he falters midway. Once he catches sight of who it is (dammit, he should have paid more attention to - to what?!), Rin immediately stands up, all signs of sleepiness banished in an excited frenzy. It was - was - a living legend. He would have been a real dunderhead if he didn't recognize this guy.

"...I-I -- just a short one!"

"Letting yourself relax that much on the street is asking to end up at the mercy of a rival's sense of humor, eh? Good thing I came along to get a little energy into you."

As casually as Kisame said it, there was a thread of seriousness under the surface. Things might be a little less dangerous than during the civil wars, but there were still people in Kiri who would do a lot more than play harmless pranks if they caught a bloodline kid out alone and asleep. But the little jab done, Kisame had no problem with the kid on a personal level, and he'd gotten some entertainment out of it.

"So what were you planning before your short break?" Okay, one more little jab.

Rin puts on a sour face at each little insult. It was one thing to be caught by some random nobody, but it was another thing entirely to be caught in the middle of lounging by an admirable man. It felt more like he was being made fun of than insulted. He takes it with a well-worn pout. Maybe later he'll laugh about it.

"I was done with kunai practice so I was gonna - "

...what was he going to do again? Dang it, this was the worst time to forget his own agenda! Rin rushes through his mental itinerary until the memory comes back to him.

"Uhm - I was gonna start up practicing with my sword. ...And have dinner." Or just more food in general.

“Looks like you need food first!” Kisame laughs, but shakes his head at the same time. He approves of pushing limits and training until exhaustion on principal, but there are ways to do it responsibly and ways to be terribly reckless about it.

“And maybe you should look into changing training areas too, eh? Closer to where you eat and sleep.”
