In Game Canons:
The Uchiha actually are not walled off inside the village, and are kind of clumped on their land while being sprinkled through when they want to be.
The Uchiha are important to the village and have control of the village police force. They may let in non-Uchiha, but almost never do.
The massacre never happened and the Uchiha are on relatively good terms, mostly, because the Kyuubi was never released either.
In Game Not-Canons-Because-They're-Me-Specific. For the moment:
This means they are my personal headcanons which I've been generally acting on.
Uchiha train their clan members to fight blind as kids. This is regardless of if they have the sharingan or not, mangekyo or not, because they expect an enemy to try to stab out their eyes as soon as they realize that the person they're fighting is an Uchiha.
Eye contact is important body language to Uchiha. It means two things. 'I trust you' or 'You frighten me'. This is in cases of deliberately making and holding eye contact. Deliberately avoiding eye contact, on the other hand, is tantamount to screaming 'I don't trust you and think you'll hurt me' or, more rarely 'I respect you and don't find myself worthy of your regard'. Anything like casual eye contact and such in between is more nebulous than deliberate meeting or avoiding of eye contact. This is all doubly compounded if both parties know the Uchiha they're making eye contact with/avoiding eye contact with has the sharingan.
Uchiha who have sharingan have to have tight control of their emotions or when they're emotionally hyped on the thing will turn on like a demented mood ring. Imagine the awkward of having sex with someone you know has a Sharingan and it never turns on. Imagine even more awkward telling your buddies not knowing this is a thing and having them mock you for your lack of prowess in bed. I mean. Uh. Temper, extreme excitement, fear, anything that cracks through emotional control flicking the thing on if the user doesn't have intense control.
The Uchiha base style is designed specifically to be soft and fast. Not soft in the Hyuuga way either, but in the 'it can easily integrate anything' way. It means that part of why the Sharingan is even useful in battle is that the Uchiha base style is by necessity open to being modified at the drop of a hat, and these changes are often passed on to the kids or students of Uchiha in turn as part of the evolving base.
Uchiha are not all actually attuned to fire. In fact, anyone who isn't primarily fire based would have a hell of a time, but have the affinity pretty much shoved down their throat until they have it. Extending this, basically the idea is that an affinity trained for extensively as a child can end up as versatile and easy to use as the natural primary affinity, if handled properly, and the Uchiha do this with fire, regardless of a child's actual primary affinity.
Uchiha are picky about letting non-Uchiha marry into the clan. Basically, any non-Uchiha spouses are going to have to impress at the very least the close family of the Uchiha they want before being welcomed with open arms because it keeps the bloodline from getting weak through too close of inbreeding.
The Sharingan is a gene on the X Chromosome. Basically, a woman with a sharingan is almost certain to have a kid with them while a guy having a kid is more iffy, especially marrying out of clan.
