Analyzing was too dedicated a word. Examined was, perhaps, more appropriate. Toyed with would be even more so, as until he was sure what caught his attention about her, he simply took amusement from her as he could in an effort not to kill her instead.

He finally turned to his own food, and shook his head. "I'm disappointed that you would assume I am as quick to judge as the rest of the town. I suppose that means you consider me a fool." He sighed, as if disappointed, or perhaps resigned.
