Test Drive Post!

Sunshineverse
Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right?

Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header:
Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation

Then you comment around and play with everyone else!

If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country.

One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on.

And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application.

sekihan: (The fuck did you just say about my Danna)

Unfortunately, the kidnappers were more capable as they were bright; the wife in question was still in transit to visiting a relative, unhindered and oblivious, while an altogether different kimono-clad lady found herself captured and ransomed to the unfortunate husband in the equation.

Naturally, however, Ashiko was slightly better equipped to deal with a kidnapping than the average noblewoman, and had zero reason to think that any rescue was coming, as it would take several days for too to pinpoint her disappearance and react. So she was fully committed to taking care of matters herself and resuming her travels.

Her long, full sleeved housed many discreet pockets and the like, most of which involved needles and poisons for defense. One of them was empty now, the small razor blade it previously held already put to work severing the ropes around her wrists as she mildly and politely glanced around her temporary prison.

Perhaps, before going through all the trouble of organizing a mission, the leaders of the Land of Noodles should have checked with the wife's relatives. Still, it did help the poor man's nerves...and if someone else really was kidnapped, they ought to also be rescued, shouldn't they?

And that, ultimately, might have something to do with why the current daimyo led a group of borrowed shinobi into the inaccurate and poorly prepared group of kidnappers.

Outside where the unrelated kimono-clad woman was being kept, shouts and the sounds of shinobi scuffle filled the air, and filtered through the walls to where Ashiko worked to escape. If the dozing guard left there to keep her from mischief heard the sounds, he surely must have thought his forces were winning.

Or he was asleep and thought he was having an exciting dream.
sekihan: (Danna-sama will be displeased...)

The rope snapped easily enough and Ashiko spared a brief moment massaging her thin wrists before picking up the two rough lengths of rope—waste not, want not, and all that. She set them aside for the moment, eyes on the still-slumbering guard, and smoothly picked up a folding stool that had been leaned up against the corner.

A swift swing and the unfortunate brigand found himself unceremoniously shoved even deeper into dreamland, and then bound fast to the offending chair.

By then, the sounds of battle had decreased enough that one side had obviously suffered and was at defeat's door, and hopefully that would be enough distraction for her to make a break for it. She took a deep, bracing breath, readied a few coated needles just in case, and slipped out of the door as subtly as a woman in a richly embroidered purple kimono could.

The battle had been swift and efficient, and fortunately none of the troop sent out to find the husband's wife were lost. Nor were any significantly injured. As it should be, really, for a group of kidnappers so ill-prepared for a counter attack.

Perhaps they were surprised to see their own daimyo lead the forces?

Surely not.

...Although there were certain places that a woman in a richly embroidered purple kimono could easily pass through a doorway unnoticed, this muddy encampment was not one of them. The bright splash of color immediately caught the daimyo's attention, and once he released the unconscious kidnapper he'd been holding up, he sprinted in her direction.

"Ah, wait! There's no longer any need for escape!"
sekihan: (Oh my...)

It could have been a ruse, but Ashiko drew her hands behind the hems of her sleeves and raised them towards her mouth all the same; if these were indeed well-intentioned men, then there was no reason not to be gracious, even if she was rather confused as to why they had helped her.

Plus it would only take a few seconds to break the poisons and paralytics back out, should it prove necessary.

"...I see," she said simply once he was within range, then slid into a deep bow. "Thank you very much then, sir." She paused, then raised a hand to cup her cheek worriedly. "I...I don't mean to come off as rude, you see, but I find myself rather bewildered by this turn of events. Who exactly are you?"
problemdaimyo: (The very picture of a lord)

It was no wonder they'd kidnapped this girl. She looked fair and gentle, and quite a perfect example of a rich man's wife. They must have anticipated him being willing to pay a fair price for her.

It was a shame that she didn't recognize her lord on sight, being a person of the Land of Noodles...but he could hardly expect such a thing of people who'd never laid eyes on him before.

"I am Hotohori...and these men behind me were hired by a very distraught husband to help rescue you from your kidnappers."
sekihan: (Yes Danna-sama?)

Her face was pale, with traditionally pretty features that did indeed denote careful breeding, but historically her clan had exclusively served a specific line of daimyou rather than live as nobles themselves, which added another level of irony to the situation entirely. Right now those features were set in an expression of even greater confusion.

True, Ashiko had recently been considering the benefits of beginning to rebuild her clan, but she didn't even have serious suitors in mind—let alone a concerned spouse.

"I—feel that there has been a miscommunication somewhere, Hotohori-san," she managed to say, tilting her head and dropping her gaze. "While I do serve my beloved Danna-sama, I am still very much unwed." And only twenty-one, though there were certainly noblewoman who married younger.
