Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right?

Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header:
Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation

Then you comment around and play with everyone else!

If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country.

One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on.

And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application.

On a merchant's well-worn road, near the border between the Land of Hot Water and the Land of Fire, on a lazy, warm afternoon in late summer, a man in bright clothing sat at a ramshackle way-station, patiently measuring and weighing cut flowers.

The stop had seen better days. Little more than a wood hut with a roof and one wall cut out, it had space enough for three benches, a box for donations meant for its upkeep (currently filled with spiderwebs rather than coins), an empty niche were a good-luck idol for travelers had once sat, and bucket next to the entrance meant to catch rainwater in the interest of slating the thirst of dusty travelers. It was the only object that showed signs of use; someone had very recently scraped it clear of moss and refuse and refilled it from the not-too-distant-stream. The probable someone was looking fairly fresh-faced, though his colorful garb - belonging to a juggler, or a fortune-teller, or some such nonsense, surely - was still a little dusty from the road.

He sat at the foremost bench, a large, ornate box, nearly as tall as he, set on the ground next to him. It was from this that he pulled the flowers, opening and closing rows of drawers as he needed them.

At first glance, it would be next to impossible to tell that he was waiting for someone. But there would be, before long, a merchant on this merchant's road; a wealthy man, thickset, shrewd, who had a slightly wealthier rival.

It wasn't often Izumo got sent too far out of Knoha these days, being by choice mostly a desk-worker. He'd had his fill of people trying to kill him, thanks, and close to thirty it just wasn't the same as when he'd been a teenager. Things ached after hiding in a closet for five hours straight in order to eavesdrop on a lordling and his companions plot treason. It just wasn't as much fun anymore. Still, he'd heard what he'd needed to, killed who he had to, and was now on his way home, joy of all joys.

He wasn't recognizable ninja or even Konoha, wearing a farmer's clothes and a carrying a heavy pack. He paused upon seeing the merchant and the bright fresh flowers. Some of those were not yet in full season in these parts, but looked astonishingly fresh and unwilted.

"Are you one of those who charges for a drink?" Izumo asked, affecting a slight country accent as he moved closer, trying not to limp. His hip still ached dammit.

Without missing a beat - although, maybe, if one looked close enough, they might have spotted a twitch of a smile - the man replied: "500 Ryo for a drink of water."

Then he stopped, casually flicking the last drawer shut. With his head actually lifted and his eyes forward, it was possible to pick up on the paints applied to his face and the pins in his hair. A performer for sure, then, or at least, someone with something to sell, otherwise he would not go through so much trouble in order to advertise his person.

"1000 Ryo for a cup of tea." Now the smile again, a bit more permanent. "...but it may take a little time."

He nodded his head.

"To heat the water."

Izumo eyed the water, and looked at the string of mon at his belt, and laughed. That was far more than any peasant farmer could afford, and most of the merchant class, too. "I could give you ten mon and a couple of turnips," he returned, shortly, rattling the iron-cast coins strung like beads on a bit of twine.

He took in the painted face, the elegant hands, the bright clothes. Merchant, performer, certainly eccentric. Izumo wondered who - or what - this man was. He'd always dismissed tales of kitsune tricksters as nothing but nonsense, but something about this man made belief in such things seem plausible. Noble, perhaps, or bastard noble, from the elegance and the polite speech and fine features. No peasant farmer, certainly!
