Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right?

Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header:
Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation

Then you comment around and play with everyone else!

If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country.

One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on.

And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application.

For starters she wants to make sure she isn't being guarded by anyone less than capable. She'd be offended if the Hokage had decided she wasn't worth a well trained shinobi anymore. And her remark really isn't that cryptic, it seems like every time she comes to Konoha everything is exactly the same.

She sashays on ahead a bemused expression on her face at his pace. "There isn't any need for that." She calls with a hint of teasing lilt to her voice. She'd been a model visitor in the past if a little frustrating to her escorts.

"Where do you like eat?" She asks with a shrug.

Neji hums a short note, faintly relieved as he moves to match her instead. He's well accustomed to showing deference when needed, but it's much more comfortable when there's no need to worry about it. He just has to be sure not to offend her too terribly, but he's a mild sort, so that isn't too likely.

"There's a soba shop I favor sometimes," he returns, more at ease. It had a casual atmosphere, so nothing suspect. "Nothing like Sunagakure's delicacies I'm afraid, but if you don't have any particular preferences."

Well he was already years ahead of the the Hokage in ability not to offend her, but then she tends to get touchy when outsiders insult her home. As far as she was concerned he was doing pretty good.

"Soba isn't bad." It didn't usually rank high on her list of options but if that was what he would eat she'd survive. "Not much in Konoha sports what I'm used to at home." She shrugs stating it as fact and less as having been offended. "If I can get a decent cup of tea with my meal there I'll be happy."

Neji nods and veers them toward Tea Avenue, where most of their eateries are located.

"Decent," he agrees mildly. In that it's drinkable, but he has exceedingly high standards when it comes to tea. "But you'll find that the best tea in Konoha is from the Crimson Leaf."

Which hilariously enough, is not on Tea Avenue, but there's a price for popularity, and the dango shop sees more customers as a result. But those details likely matter little to the Suna-nin, so instead he simply moves into his favored soba shop and doesn't worry about ordering, because he actually comes here pretty often and orders the same thing. Just nods to the clerk behind the counter and quietly allows Temari time to decide.

She raises an eyebrow but nods. She just may like this one infinitely more than her previous escorts. They usually dragged her to a ramen stand if she wanted something to eat. And they never mentioned where she could get a good cup of tea. They usually treated her like she was a burdern instead of a guest. She didn't have any illusions that the Hyuuga felt any differently, but at least he hid it well. She could respect that.

"Perhaps you can escort me to the Crimson Leaf later this week." She half suggests and half demands as she follows him into the soba shop. Taking a seat she takes a moment to study the menu before ordering the house special. As she waits she takes in the other customers, blue eyes flickering around, studying and seeking potential threats.

Neji's smile is a brief upturn of his mouth, but it's there as he settles in across from her.

"Certainly, Temari-san."

The only other person that really shares his fondness for tea is Hinata and while he could drag his team there, he learned that lesson the first time he'd suggested it and it wasn't worth the risk of being thrown out- or worse, barred. Fortunately it's only that one place Lee destroyed that none of them are allowed to visit again.

Her eyes track the restaurant's movement and he glances through the window, ostensibly to appreciate the good weather, but aware all the same. He'd normally be more relaxed in his own village, but he's charged with Temari's protection so long as she's there. Not that she really needs it and he knows he can trust her to take care of herself, but it's part of his job all the same.

She's not bothered by silence he notes, and feels the pressure to keep her entertained fade. He can make small talk if needed, but keeping a constant flow of conversation up for a week was taxing.

Their food arrives in short order however, and Neji straightens. "I hope you find everything to your liking, Temari-san."

Her chin dips in thanks. Instead she rests her elbows on the table and drops her chin onto her knuckles. For all that she was watchful she knew how to put on a good show that she wasn't in the least concerned about where she was. She might not think a single Konoha nin could mount much of a successful attack but she wouldn't let her presumptions get in the way.

But it was easy enough to remain quiet. She didn't mind in the slightest, she wasn't the most talkative of people the begin with, but it was surprisingly comfortable. Okay she was done comparing the Hyuuga to past escorts. Just pleasantly surprised.

When the food arrives she leans back so the dish can be placed in front of her without her getting in the way. Taking a sniff of her food she sighs in approval as she picks up her chopsticks. "I'm sure I will. Itadakimasu." she says snapping them apart with a quick efficient movement.

The utensils split in a way that leaves no doubt about her capability- like the quick snap of a wrist bone or a few fingers. Flexing his own, Neji pries his chopsticks apart with a quieter pressure, and briefly wonders about the forces at play here.

But he pushes the weird territory those thoughts stray into aside in favor of inhaling the scent of his favorite dish.

"Itadakimasu," he returns, and savors the first touch of flavor on his tongue with a hum. Perfection. The only thing that would make it better is- ah yes, their tea. Not the best, but passable, and he turns a grateful nod to their server.

There is only silence for a while as Temari eats. It isn't nearly as long a trip as it was prior to the travel seals being established but it still took some out of traveler. She would pause every so often between bites seemingly lost in thought as she gazes out the window or the crowd of patrons. Sometimes she would take a sip of tea.

Finally after a long stretch of silence she places her chopsticks down and tilts her head at the Hyuuga across from her. "I have a meeting tomorrow morning with one of the local grocers. And I think there's something about a meeting with some village official about merchant escorts through the deserts." She waves a hand. She'll check when she gets back the actual itinerary. But she knows the grocer meeting is definitely the next morning.

"I hope that won't be inconvenient for you."

The silence is nice, allows him to concentrate on eating and savoring food just as if he was here on his own. He wasn't of course, but the lack of pressure made it seem like comfortable company. And when the silence was broken, it was a matter of business for the most part.

Neji glanced up, finished his bite of food with a hum and tipped his head as he considered his schedule for the next day. Nothing he couldn't work around, let alone neglect Suna's ambassador for.

"I have nothing pressing to attend to for most of this week, Temari-san." Just training he could catch up on later, and Obito was highly unlikely to pull him for an unexpected mission when he already had an assignment. "So there's no need to worry about inconvenience."

"Perfect." She merely nods and picks up her chopsticks to resume eating. With that tiny detail out of the way she lapses into silence again as her gaze shifts back to the people outside. As much as she's enjoyed conversing with the Hyuuga she doesn't have much left to say at the moment. Besides she was here on official business, and while chit-chat had it's place, she wasn't here to befriend her escort.

Besides tomorrow she was going to drive him absolutely nuts anyway, or attempt to. Couldn't hurt to be a little kind and allow him some semblance of peace before she metaphorically and quite possibly literally rocks his world.
