Test Drive Post!
Sunshineverse | ||||||||
Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right? Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header: Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation Then you comment around and play with everyone else! If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country. One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on. And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application.

Inuzuka Hana | Naruto | Konoha
"I know I don't have a fur coat, but there's only so much of an advantage to be gained from that," Hana insisted when one of her dogs verbally prodded at her with a muffled bark, teasing her for stopping along with them. "Tomorrow, let's get up even earlier and snag one of the training grounds with water."
She could probably be talked into standing up and sparring, but staying right where she was seemed much more appealing. Hana wouldn't even bother to so much as sit up at anyone's approach, not unless their scent was an unfamiliar one.
Re: Inuzuka Hana | Naruto | Konoha
That was when she arrived at the training ground, fully intending to practice forms when she spotted the Inuzuka shinobi and large nin-dogs beneath the tree. She looked tired... Really tired...
"Oi, you all right?" Adela asked as she walked over, formally announcing her presence as she pulled a chilled bottle of water out of her bag. She just looked... Tired. Really tired. Hopefully she wasn't sick or anything because of the heat though...
Re: Inuzuka Hana | Naruto | Konoha
Because that's what their training consisted of on this particular morning, at least until two of the dogs banded together to attack Hana. An unfair alliance, and she'd been hard pressed to hold her own. Her remaining partner took the opportunity to slip away from the fighting, thus starting the general exodus toward shade.

Without another thought she approached, holding out one of her water bottles for Hana to take and glancing at the dogs around her, "I have more if your nin-dogs want some too. I guess it is kinda hot to do any really serious training today if you're not by the river or ponds."
no subject
"I'm Hana, and these are the Haimaru triplets." All three dogs, now sitting upright and attentive, nodded their own greetings to Adela, one of them softly woofing hello as well.
Hana took a few sips herself, then raised her eyebrows at the triplets. They surrounded her in a semicircle waiting for their own shares, which she poured into their open mouths. A few sips apiece of the cold water, and then she and the dogs could stay hydrated with what Hana brought. There was no reason to deprive Adela of supplies.

You know, aside from being really really big for dogs.
"So they're capable fighters too? That's kinda cool, I've never really met nin-animals like this before."
no subject
Hana grinned as she watched the dogs get affectionate with Adela, playfully nudging her. They knew where their cold water came from, and they also understood every appreciative word she said.
"Did you want the training ground to yourself, or would you like company? I'll treat you to lunch after."
no subject
"If you're up to training with swords and jutsu, I'd like to spar with you. I'm up for learning new styles I might have to go against, and I'm sure you all could too."
no subject
"I'm not so good with kenjutsu," Hana admitted. "I'm pretty heavily nin and taijutsu focused, and my boys and I use a lot of brute force. I'm betting you've got a lot more finesse than I do." Adela was younger, but Hana's focus had been split between combat and medical techniques. She knew better than to underestimate a kunoichi just because of an age difference.
As for straight-out announcing her fighting style before a spar, Inuzuka never made much of a secret of theirs. "If you're up for heavy hitters, I'd be glad to oblige."
no subject
"I'm ready when you are, Hana!" If Hana was expecting honorifics, she was going to be sorely disappointed; Adela didn't tend to use them for almost anyone, not unless they were outright requested of her or if she felt that they were needed.
her journal name is the cutest D:
He had, however, a rather shy kitten in his arms that needed tending to, which was why he was walking faster than usual in the general direction of the town, headed straight towards the veterinarian.
....Wait.
"Oi oi Hana! Busy?" Got a minute?
Oh look, there are two other little faces poking out from his neckline to say hello, too. The other little face that turns in her general direction is actually rather bloody in one eye...
I was writing out headcanon and mentioned that she sleeps in one with her dogs; next thing I knew...
The Haimaru triplets knew better than to get between Hana and an injured animal, but they were on their feet and off to sniff and greet Shisui and his other passengers.
"What happened?"
I can see her sleeping with the pups ahhhh <333 cute D:
Poor kitten. She was most likely blind in one eye now, he figured, and only bit his lip at how it was going to have to get used to getting along with just one eye now.
"It didn't look like their Momma was around. I didn't wait too long, though, and didn't want to leave the others behind just in case whatever attacked that one came back for the rest." He intended to take them back, though, just in case the mother cat was still around.
And as for the ninken, his knees were already in the soft grass while he pet each dog's head in acknowledgement. The kittens, however, were a tad frightened, peering out cautiously over his neckline. "How has training been?"
no subject
She didn't have to do more than glance in the direction of her supplies before one of the triplets was off, returning with her medkit in his mouth. "Thank you."
Hana pulled a thin blanket from the kit and spread it on the ground. She was a field ninja, not unused to outdoor surgery, but there was no sense needlessly increasing the risk of dirt in wounds. She laid the kitten down gently. "Hot. Sparring was a little more tiring than usual today, especially when certain dogs," her voice dropped warningly, but the two canines in question only wuffed the equivalent of a shrug, knowing she'd never really be angry with them, "decided to ally against me while their brother snuck off to nap in the shade." She'd spent the duration of her answer laying out anything she might need. Hana didn't want to go digging through her medkit once she started.

"If she'd been a boy I might have called her Ivan, but--" Wow Shisui, no. Puns already?
He was laughing at the mention of the two dogs ganging up on her, reaching up and letting go of the injured kitten for now to bury his fingers in their fur and give them a good head-scritch. The laughter faded when he looked back to the kitten, though. "Aw come on, you're literally the best veterinarian we have, Hana." Sometimes the doctor needed a little bit of motivation? "But I think she'd manage, even if she'd be blind in one eye. Pretty sure I can take care of her while she gets used to things, and my little student's a great caretaker when it comes to cats, too. I'm sure she'd be more than happy to assist."
He watched on, curious. Somehow, watching all these medical procedures being done on anyone else besides himself was always fascinating.
...that posted without my permission. I must have accidentally clicked.
Now came the hard part. Hana hadn't even bothered trying to feel for the optic nerve or check for vision yet. She lay down flat on her stomach, eye-to-eye with the kitten, and picked up the light from among the tools she'd laid out. Shining it into the kitten's eyes, the healthy eye was as responsive as it should be, but pupil size didn't change in the other eye. She sighed.
"I'll try." Hana couldn't promise anything else. She gauged her chakra stores. Hana had enough chakra for another diagnostic and one attempt, but that was all that was left. Briefly she considered taking the kitten to the office and asking for help. No one there had any more experience with optical problems than she did, though, and no one on duty today had more surgical experience.
;a; I almost replied to it but then it said whoops, commented deleted 8D
His face fell at the sigh, though, and even if he might have joked about calling her Ivan (eye-one), Shisui truly was upset about the fact that Hana just might not be able to save the kitten's vision.
He could only nod, and hope for the best when she told him she'd try. He knew she'd exhaust all her options before throwing in the towel if she had to. Shisui wasn't kidding when he'd said she was probably the best they had. "Is it going to hurt her? Do you want me to hold her still?" His hands came down from petting the dogs, reaching over now for the kitten.
no subject
She nodded, confirming he should pick up the cat. "It won't hurt at first. I want to get a better comparison between the two eyes and the two optic nerves. It might when I try to do any healing, and that's difficult enough without her squirming."
Once the kitten was settled with Shisui, Hana seated herself crosslegged in front of them, lips pursed and both hands hovering just above the kitten's head. She sank a probing bit of chakra into the feline, feeling for differences between the two eyes, particularly with regard to the optic nerve. "I think I can tell where the problem is," she muses, "I'm just not sure if I can fix it."
He's avoiding accidentally getting an eyeful of Hana |8
He sat there with the cat, listening to Hana as she examined the kitten and purposely training his eyes to look at the cat or Hana's face instead of anywhere inappropriate. Somehow, the cat was more important to him right now but-- just in case. He'd been getting accused of plenty of inappropriate things as it is, recently. "...Her sight?" Aw, poor little girl.
Everyone gets an eyeful of cleavage, it's not really avoidable.
Hana's clothes were as simple as usual, fitted shorts and a tighter-than-normal flak jacket. It was unzipped the tiniest bit further than most days due to the heat, but not enough for the difference to be readily noticeable. And to be honest, she never minded drawing eyes. Hana flirted as straightforwardly as she did anything else. She didn't notice any intentional effort on Shisui's part to keep his gaze on her face. Hana wasn't looking at Shisui in the first place. All of her attention was focused firmly on the cat in his hands.
Hana bit the corner of her lower lip lightly with a canine tooth, then took a deep breath, concentrating. She did her best to repair the damage, green chakra glowing for a full minute before stuttering into nothing. If it had been enough, she wasn't sure. Hana thought partial sight was the most likely outcome, but they'd still need to test that.

Re: Inuzuka Hana | Naruto | Konoha
One thing she tended to do was attempt to stay away from the village proper and in the trees more, for the coolness their shade provided, and the lack of excessive hustle and bustle generating any extra stifling heat.
There wasn't really that far she could go from the village without some sort of travel pass or mission, though, so she was relegated to the forests surrounding Konoha and the varied training grounds.
Eventually she was bound to encounter people with similar goals to her.
She'd have recognized Hana Inuzuka even if she weren't currently laying with a trio of dogs. She was probably the mildest and quietest Inuzuka that Sakura knew...which wasn't saying all that much, but at least it meant she wasn't inclined to quickly turn around and flee before she woke up and dragged her into something annoying and inappropriate for the heat of the day.
"You'd be cooler if you just went to the stream nearby, you know. The water flows down from somewhere less warm than here."
Re: Inuzuka Hana | Naruto | Konoha
"Your team training today, or do you have the day off?" She didn't smell her brother anywhere, not even if she let a little extra chakra trickle to her nose.
Re: Inuzuka Hana | Naruto | Konoha
It wasn't that she didn't expect Hana to drag her off at all, just that she was much less likely to do that on a hot day like this than Kiba would have been, who apparently kept himself cool by pure will power. Or he spent so much time shouting and talking about himself that it cooled himself off by some variation of panting.
She suspected it was the latter.
"It's not a good idea to test Shino's jutsu on days like these." The bugs liked to fall out of pores and it was...just not pleasant for anyone involved. She didn't mind his bugs and she still didn't like the idea of them falling out everywhere while they tried to train.
Re: Inuzuka Hana | Naruto | Konoha
Hana was keeping herself cool with shade. But water might be a good idea. Or ice cream. Either of those sounded preferable to training. And since Sakura had just admitted to having the day off... "Would you like to come swimming with me? Or out for ice cream?"
Propping herself up on her elbows, Hana gave Sakura the kind of predatory grin that made it seem like it was probably best to just go along with one of her plans. Inuzuka could be terribly stubborn.
Re: Inuzuka Hana | Naruto | Konoha
Shino's bugs never bit or excessively bothered her, nor Shirakumo...but Kiba always freaked out, and it never seemed a pleasant thing for Shino, either, when the bugs had trouble staying inside.
She eyed the Inuzuka cautiously a moment or two. "Is there an ice cream you were thinking of in particular?" Either way led to potential trouble...but she didn't fancy swimming with three playful dogs. So, swimming was out.
