Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right? Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header: Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation Then you comment around and play with everyone else! If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country. One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on. And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application. "Yes, yes," Yuichi agreed casually, inwardly gibbering her agreement. "You can goad me all you like, I'm not coming down if you're going to be all...alpha male-y like that." Then she discretely pricked her thumb, pressed it to a special spot on the handle of her broom, and rolled off the tree bough in an apparent contradiction to her own words.

At least until it became apparent that she was not falling at all, and instead faintly bobbing in the air on her broomstick.

This was a trick Yuichi was especially fond of, though the mechanics behind it were a little laborious to lah down. It worked on a system of false magnetism between the broom and the ground of a specifically marked out territory—in this case, her forest. The broom's seals fostered a relationship of 'like' polarity between it and the marked territory, and a set limit of how close the two could be.

It wasn't 'flying' so much as it was 'repulsion with style' but Yuichi was damn proud of it either way. She took another puff of her pipe and draped herself across the broomstick, one foot lazily tucked under her other knee for balance. "So, what do you want with this forest then?"

He looked curious, but not impressed. Shinobi in Iwa knew how to fly after all, and she clearly had a mix of abilities. "Did I ever claim to want anything in it at all?"

[mountebanking]

"Oh for—do you take everything literally, word by word, or are you just trying to mess with me?" Yuichi puffed sullenly on her pipe for a long moment, before finally giving up. "Okay, fine, politeness is wasted right now so I'll be blunt; are you just wandering around here or did somebody request a 'burn the witch' mission again?"

That had happened when she lived in the Land of Earth a couple years ago. Fucking Iwa.

"If I had such a mission I promise I would have long since set you on fire." He flashed her s smirk, tipping his head back. "Such things would be safer if you had a village."

[mountebanking]

"That's actually a terrible idea, historically speaking." Yuichi exhaled a long line of smoke. A small amount of tension left her at his admission, at least, but she wrinkled her nose at the thought of settling down some place...permanent. Her grandmother had told her at length about the fall of Uzushio. "It's much less of a hassle to handle things on my own."

[silverterror]

"Historically speaking, those without reinforcements are those who get caught and tortured without any hope for being at least put out of their misery." He flashed a smirk up at her. "Had I more leisure I don't doubt I could make that more clear."

[mountebanking]

"In your history, maybe," she pointed out airily, outwardly ignoring the barely-veiled threat even as she internally obsessed and flailed over it. "My experience with people who are caught without back-up involves cake and playing dress-up; but hey, maybe that's just because I'm too nice."

[silverterror]

He froze, staring at her for a long, long moment. His voice was absolutely icy when he spoke. "Come down here."

[mountebanking]

"...no?" Yuichi ventured, a whimper cowering in her chest and just waiting to pop up. "Why would I want to do something like that?" Especially since he had suddenly somehow gotten even scarier. She had no idea what set him off; had she insulted him somehow?

[silverterror]

His words were a low, icy near purr and he didn't take his eyes off her. "I said come down, Yui-chan."

[mountebanking]

Yuichi damn near fell off her broom at that sudden, direct address. Especially since it was from her real name, which she didn't use nearly as much as she had during childhood. As she regained her balance, her mind raced furiously, bouncing to the only possible conclusion. "You..." She pointed a finger accusingly. "You're one of Sei-chan's cousins, aren't you?!"

[silverterror]

"Cousins? Oh no. All my cousins have red hair. Come down." He shifted on his feet, poised. Clearly he intended to come up there after her if she didn't comply.

[mountebanking]

"Big brother, then?" It became equally apparent that Yuichi had no intention whatsoever of coming down, discreetly readying a nearby seal to get her out of the direct line of conflict, if it came down to it. She squinted down at him, a bit of disbelief creeping into her voice as she desperately stalled. "...father?"

[silverterror]

His words were a low, near feral growl. "No, Yui-chan." He pulled his blade partially from the scabbard, staring up at her. "Come. Down."

[mountebanking]

She swallowed, her throat suddenly bone dry. "Y-You make a compelling argument!" She laughed nervously, putting her pipe away. "But! I feel that I have an equally compelling rebuttal." She took a deep breath, fixed a shiny, almost manic smile in place, and said: "No."

[silverterror]

"If you run, I'll chase, and you won't find it nearly so pleasant, I promise you." He was perfectly still under her now.

[mountebanking]

"This? This is not pleasant!" She tensed like a rabbit waiting for a fox to twitch, so that she might have some idea of which way to scamper off. "In fact! I am fairly sure, this might be the very opposite."

[silverterror]

"Whyever is that? If you would just come down, I promise you we have quite a few things to... discuss."

[mountebanking]

"Because I have a policy of keeping at least ten meters between myself and men who can make normal verbs sound like grandiose death threats. Also," She managed a rather pathetic glare. "Also! You said you weren't here for me!"

[silverterror]

"You're right. I'm not. However." He shifted on his feet, then sprung, fast, incredibly fast, and lashed out to hit the broom, slicing it. "You and I have, shall we say, a prior history."

[mountebanking]

The scream that tore from Yuichi's throat would have won awards if it had been in a horror movie. The broom was vacant when the blade hit it, and its owner was several dozen feet away, clinging to a different tree bough, dead white. "H-History should just...just s-stay in the past!"

[silverterror]

He pivoted in place, blade back in her sheath as he stalked toward her, completely focused, and completely unconcerned with her fear. "I did say you wouldn't like it as much."

[mountebanking]

"I didn't run!" Yuichi practically wailed, popping to a tree further into the forest almost seamlessly. "I didn't! You—you—you ,i>lunged at me first!" And cut her broom. She had others at home, but that one had been nice and theatrical.

[silverterror]

"You're running now." He moved after her, practically vanishing before appearing near her, keeping an eye on her in case she tried to hit him with anything herself. He wasn't as slow as he used to be.

[mountebanking]

"You made me!" She accused between soft puffs and pops. "I'll stop when you stop!" Or, given even the slightest opening, she would stop him and hopefully not get stabbed.
