Test Drive Post!
Sunshineverse | ||||||||
Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right? Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header: Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation Then you comment around and play with everyone else! If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country. One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on. And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application.

Aburame Shino | Naruto | Konohagakure
They'd forgotten to tell him team training was cancelled.
Again.
Re: Aburame Shino | Naruto | Konohagakure
If it had been hers, it actually would have gotten done.
It was too hot to be running all over the place to burn time, and the cooler, more quiet places around the village were already taken up with people trying to cool off or make the most of the sudden heatwave. Sakura didn't have much better to do (until she thought of something) than lurk around in the shadows and shade of Konoha, watching familiar faces pass.
For the most part, she left them all alone. It was only when she caught Shino, bundled up like they were caught in a blizzard instead, that she finally spoke from the shelf between rooftops (it was probably meant for flowers, not people, but she was light and it was a better position than the ground) where she'd settled down for the afternoon. "How are you not dead?"
She realized all Aburame practiced a peculiar sort of modesty that she suspected but never confirmed was meant to keep the workings of their jutsu secret from enemies, but...it had to work like a mobile oven in heat like this.
Re: Aburame Shino | Naruto | Konohagakure
He considers leaving the question be - maybe he'll forget it - but ultimately, he decides to answer it. He hates when people avoid his questions, and he has no desire to be a hypocrite.
"...clan technique." After all, The Land of Fire got well into unsafe temperatures during the summer, and their signature greatcoats would overheat them if they hadn't come up with some way to cope.
Re: Aburame Shino | Naruto | Konohagakure
She didn't jump down, because she didn't want to unless he had a better place to go, but she did lean forward a bit to speak to him, hanging onto the shelf more with chakra than actual balance. "Kiba forgot to tell you again, didn't he?"
Of course he did, it was Kiba.
"Is it the kind of technique you'd have to kill me if you told me about?" Because she had one of those secrets already, so she was willing to risk it for coolness.
It probably involved bugs, yes, but that wasn't a dealbreaker.
Re: Aburame Shino | Naruto | Konohagakure
"He did," Shino said, leaning his back against the wall across from her. "Again."
"The technique is not classified, but I do not think it would be practical for a non-Aburame. Why? Because the kikkai absorb internal heat, leave the body, and expel it elsewhere." He paused for thought, going particularly still as he did. "...would you like a demonstration?"
Re: Aburame Shino | Naruto | Konohagakure
She sighed, watching her feet almost as if she expected them to start swinging if she didn't keep close attention to them. "You should fill up his pillowcase with bugs whenever he forgets, you know. He'd stop eventually."
She glanced over at him when he posed the question: calculating whether the demonstration was watching the kikaichu do their thing or whether it would require her participation in some way (and whether the cost would be worth the benefit). It was only a moment of contemplation before she decided, though: she hadn't any better things to do than observe anyway.
"As long as you don't do that thing where you open up a hole in your face again."
Familiarity with her teammate did not undo the initial trauma of seeing him do that when they'd barely met. Elsewhere, she could deal with. The face, no.
Re: Aburame Shino | Naruto | Konohagakure
He hunched into himself when she mentioned that incident. A muscle under his eye twitched, thankfully concealed by his sunglasses. "It was only once, Sakura-san."
Turning his attention inward, Shino directed his kikkai to absorb a larger quantity of warmth than usual. They then exited his body from his sleeves, formed a small black cloud in front of Sakura (roughly the size of a beach ball) and expelled the heat all at once. It was surely not the most pleasant thing in the world, but they had been assigned to missions in the Land of Wind before, and the expelled heat could not have been more intense than that.
no subject
Obviously he must have been more discreet about it than that normally, since she'd never noticed that's what they were doing when they were in the Land of Wind. But then, she'd been distracted by the mission and just took for granted that Shino didn't sweat.
Ultimately, she gave Shino an unimpressed frown for the hot air in her face thing. "Won't they get tired?"
no subject
"Kikkai rarely tire. Why? They are constantly in motion, therefore accustomed to it." Speaking of kikkai, his had just picked up a few people moving in their direction. "There is a group of pre-genin moving down this alleyway. I recommend we relocate."
no subject
"I don't think that's the same thing." Everything had its limits, after all. But then, she wasn't the host of those bugs. Even if he was simplifying, he obviously knew more about how the bugs functioned than she did...or ever could.
She glanced off in the direction he'd come from, curious whether she could spot them (and presuming that's the way they were coming from, considering the reason people usually took this street). "To where? You know, most of the shade is already taken up."
I feel that pranking Kiba is clearly the best use of everyone's day. Hana may invite him to join her
He probably did something terribly irresponsible and stayed out all night because of it. Clearly Kiba didn't drag Shino along for the ride. It was a shame, because Shino would've been responsible enough to get her brother home last night, and then Hana wouldn't be running all over the village in this heat. The temperature made her far more prone to fits of temper than usual. If Shino was paying attention, he might have noticed slightly bared teeth.
She was just going to make Kiba pay for all the time she'd wasted trying to track him down, that's all. All she needed was a little inspiration. Hana's hint of a snarl shifted into a smile that promised trouble. "You're a tracker too," she mused in the most innocent tone she could muster. "For all I know, you even have my brother tagged with a kikai." Shino might want to make a quick escape lest he be dragged into Hana's plans for the day.
how could it be anything but glorious, with the two of them?
A small nod at Hana's assertion. "I do." He did not want to see Kiba, however. He could just stay forgotten-- no, he had a better idea.
"I believe he is in the apartment of the chuunin he has been pursuing." Shino's voice stayed flat, but inwardly he was doing the Shino-equivalent to cackling. Kiba would stop forgetting to tell him about cancellations if he sicced Hana on him every time he did.
Eeeeexcellent
She leaned forward slightly when Shino admitted he could find Kiba. Hana didn't even bother to hide the eagerness on her face, and she was openly gleeful when he finally did tell her. "Oh is he?" Had Kiba been the one to tell her, Hana would have gladly helped cover for him and would have left her brother in peace. But instead, he'd made a lot of extra work for her. "That just opens up a world of possibilities."
So many embarrassing options, so little time. "Care to join me?"
kiba will not know what hit him
Shino didn't smile when Hana asked him along, but he had more than enough internal glee to make up for the lack of external reaction. Kiba wouldn't forget him again. "Yes, thank you."
I almost feel bad for him, but Hana won't.
Fortunately, there were distractions near to hand that cheered her up completely. She folded her hands together slowly as she thought, saying briskly. "Plans first, then disguising our scents. Embarrassment is key, given who he's with." Genjutsu might make this easier, but creativity could make up for a lack of genjutsu skill. They'd just have to do this the old-fashioned way. Sneaking something bad-scented onto the girl would make Kiba squirm but would be harder on the girl than on him, so that was out. Paint bombs? Not nearly embarrassing enough. Hana wanted something special. It had been too long since she last pranked her brother. This would be fun.
"Let me know if you have any bursts of inspiration."
I sympathize with my poor muse. would it kill kiba to send akamaru with a note if he goes drinking?
He considered finding an air horn and using that to wake Kiba, surely causing the morning to be one to remember, but that would bother the girl as well. "Do you have a high-frequency whistle?"
...I accidentally typed half this tag in Spanish because I'd just emailed my landlord.
As they went to meet up with the Haimaru triplets, she proposed, "We could send off short bursts of the whistle every few minutes just to watch him jump, even after he's woken up." Her brother could always explain it to the girl, considering she's just as much a ninja as Kiba, but until he did it would be very entertaining. Shino's abilities provided more possibilities, but Hana refused to do anything that contributed to the nasty village rumors regarding bugs. She'd overheard a few too many comments about fleabitten mutts lately. Besides, the Aburame dealt with enough negativity of their own.
"How difficult do you think the traps on her windows are?" Hana wondered. "We could just bypass knocking entirely." A chuunin was sure to have traps of some sort. If they weren't too complex, Hana was ready and willing to try a break-in.
You have no idea how weird it is to type Shino-san
She'd just left one of the vendors when she caught sight of Shino. Curious she moved to meet him. "Good morning Shino-san." she says brightly before falling silent and looking a little confused at the boy before her. "Is something wrong?"
I never interact with hinatas on my other muses, so it is strange for me to just HAVE a hinata
"Hyuuga-san. My teammates have forgotten to tell me team practice was cancelled. Again." He doesn't quite have a pout going.
You'd be the second Shino I've interacted with
"That's..." she pauses searching for the appropriate word, "frustrating."
"Would you like to do something to fill your time?"
