The Academy Age Meme

"No, you can't eat yourself if you henge into a bowl of ramen, go sit back down"

Ah yes, another long-awaited Sunshineverse meme!

As the name suggests, this meme is fairly straightforward: bring out the cute academy aged icons, because we'll be playing everyone as their young, academy aged selves! This time it's pretty straightforward, but here's a step by step anyway.

Step one: Post a top level comment with your character's name and affiliation at the time of their academy training. You should probably include their age--again, at the time they'd be in the academy--along with it. If, for whatever reason, your character didn't go to a ninja academy, probably just post them as a child around the time other kids would have been in the academy

Step two: Given the nature of this meme, you may want to include a scenario or two for people to tag into, but otherwise, it's a good idea to include relevant information people will need if they tag your character. If during their childhood they refused to leave trees, preferred to henge into a puddle to make people slip on them, or killed people indiscriminately, these are good things for people to know.

Step three: Tag to others, and relive your ~~high school~~ Academy days!

NOTE: Ages in this meme are synched up. That means school-kid Karin won't be able to kick it with school-kid Kushina. But! A school-kid Karin could end up interacting with a somewhat younger than current canon Kushina!

Konoha

[He didn't get to leave the country often. He wasn't important enough to be needed outside of the country, and a family member of a daimyo was always a bounty target even when he didn't serve much purpose. He didn't fully grasp all of that, but he did understand that getting to visit Konoha was a new and amazing experience.

His mother had a meeting with the Daimyo of this land, but she'd sent him to the Konoha Academy (a place where ninjas trained to be ninjas, much like he studied books for politics, he supposed). It was nice to be out in the sun, without people hovering over him constantly worrying or scolding him. Watching other children about his age run around (wearing clothes one really could run in, unlike his robes), he hung back at the gates, golden brown eyes intent and curious.

His mother had suggested he go and get to know some of these ninja, people he might later recruit...but he wasn't certain how to. Should he ask what games they played?]

Kiri

[It had been a few years since his mother had first taken him out with her somewhere. It had been infrequent still, and ever since his eldest brother had fallen from the mountain and died she'd stopped taking him out at all (it was too dangerous, there were family members dying, and his father was stressing deeply enough that he might fall ill). This trip was undoubtedly because Kiri was so near to the Land of Noodles. He should treasure that, he knew, because any other outings were increasingly unlikely ever since another brother of his had eaten something bad and died overnight just the month before. If anyone else were to be harmed now...

He was quiet, studious, watching the village of Kirigakure with the same curious look as he had the other ninja villages, quietly encouraged to meet 'future employees'. Making friends wasn't likely, since he wouldn't be able to visit again...but it was still nice to be out of the palace, especially with the suffocating gloom that had fallen over it recently.

He wandered up to a fountain in the town and watched it curiously, as he thought over where he might go next.]

A noble child should take more care than to wander alone, as not every person would treat him well. Some people were idiots and only saw potential targets, not potential future allies or steady pay. He didn't really see either, just an idiot who was alone when he should really know better.

Coming up beside him, the fifteen year old examined the boy. "You should be more careful. If were more politically motivated, I might have used this chance to kill you."

Huh? Who was Sephiroth talking--

From some distance behind him Adela just blinked a few times, looking at the strange green-haired... Girl? Before she darted to hide behind the taller boy's leg, clearly shy and not wanting to come out. The girl couldn't have been older than five, and she peeked out from behind the boy's leg questioningly. What was Sephiroth warning this person for? And talking about killing him... Was he bad?

But Seph would keep her safe, right? Until she was strong enough to do it herself...

The child didn't look perturbed by the casual threat of the taller boy at all. Instead, he simply looked up with a curious expression. It was true that other members of his family were dying, and that meant the entire family was potentially in jeopardy...but it made no sense to go for him when his mother was present. He possessed no true political value as a target while his father and other brothers were still alive.

"Oh...I don't think so." Bright red hair caught his attention then, and he offered the littler child a small, friendly smile. "Kirigakure and the Land of Noodles are on friendly terms, aren't we?"

"Friendly terms doesn't mean no political gain." It was a murmur, steady and firm, and he shook his head, looking the boy over top to bottom. "Be cautious and dont' count on what you believe to be true. It will hurt you."

"Is he a bad guy, Sephiroth?" She mumbled as quietly as she could manage, glancing up at her cousin before hiding a bit more behind him to look at Hotohori from what she perceived as safety again. She didn't understand what was going on, but he wasn't smiling at all... The other guy was, but was he was dressed weird and -- noodles?

What about noodles? Why was he talking about food?

"Perhaps...but there's no political gain to be produced by me." He offered the older boy a dogged smile. Of course he wasn't naive enough to believe he was completely without worth, but he was still so far from the role of Daimyo that it was negligible. Kidnapping the Prince of Noodles may have had its benefits, but hardly was it worth the trouble of collecting it.

"But thank you. I'm happy there are those who care about my welfare even outside of the country." He turned his gaze back to the shy little one. "Do I...look bad?"

"She's asking because I'm pointing some things out to you." He shifted his weight, staying between them so the boy couldn't get a good look at her. "It's just a very sheltered boy who doesn't understand how the world works, no one to concern yourself with."

Adela shifted with him, nodding to show her understanding as she kept hiding behind Sephiroth, only peeking out one eye occasionally to look. So he didn't know how the world worked and was sheltered?

"M'sorry that you're sheltered. I hope it gets better soon."
