THE ACADEMY AGE MEME

"No, you can't eat yourself if you henge into a bowl of ramen, go sit back down"
Ah yes, another long-awaited Sunshineverse meme!
As the name suggests, this meme is fairly straightforward: bring out the cute academy aged icons, because we'll be playing everyone as their young, academy aged selves! This time it's pretty straightforward, but here's a step by step anyway.
Step one: Post a top level comment with your character's name and affiliation at the time of their academy training. You should probably include their age--again, at the time they'd be in the academy--along with it. If, for whatever reason, your character didn't go to a ninja academy, probably just post them as a child around the time other kids would have been in the academy
Step two: Given the nature of this meme, you may want to include a scenario or two for people to tag into, but otherwise, it's a good idea to include relevant information people will need if they tag your character. If during their childhood they refused to leave trees, preferred to henge into a puddle to make people slip on them, or killed people indiscriminately, these are good things for people to know.
Step three: Tag to others, and relive your
NOTE: Ages in this meme are synched up. That means school-kid Karin won't be able to kick it with school-kid Kushina. But! A school-kid Karin could end up interacting with a somewhat younger than current canon Kushina!
BONUS NOTES!
1: Although it isn't required to, all tags and threads in this meme can absolutely count toward actual in-game history for the characters involved!
2: Threads that count for history also count for activity! Just like the test drive meme, if the threads count for history, they also count for activity
3: Don't forget the NPC journal! This is a great opportunity to interact with dead/distanced/etc characters that would still be around or would be prominently involved with the history of your characters, and that's what this NPC journal is there for! Use it!
4: Most important - Have fun, you cute little ninja terrors
all in due time~~~
Rin screamed as he ran the rest of the way towards the group of kids, his fists already up and ready to connect with the first one in his path. There was something unassuming about this little yelling child, something about the way his body moved. He didn’t move like a trained fighter – he was more like a battering ram, rushing head on into danger. Rin jumped into the brawl, kicking and biting his way to the center of that huge mess.
The other children didn’t realize he was there until he was on top of them, sending a flurry of punches into every part of them he could get to. Dimly aware of what was going on, Rin could still feel the heavy blows that were delivered back to him. It hardly mattered. His goal was right in sight – even if it meant taking a few more attacks here and there.
It was all that crossed Rin's mind as he started running the rest of the way, his earlier cry transforming into a scream as he pulled back his fist and punched the first child in his way. The child staggered before striking back at Rin, immediately pulling him to the ground. They scuffled for a bit until Rin kept him to the ground, pinned in place by the force of his own fists. If they said anything about who he was - "that monster kid" who never stopped once he started - it only served to fuel his frustration at the situation.
Rin hardly formed a single coherent thought as he focused on the others. It was hard to tell how many other kids there were in all of the chaos. It didn't matter to him that he was getting attacked - all he could see was the child in front of him, just barely visible over the disordered battle. A few heavy blows wouldn't be enough to stop him from sinking his teeth into the arm of one child or from twisting the wrist of another.
Once he entered the foray, he couldn't remember when he started fighting or when he had stopped yelling.
It seemed like one long battle to him, one where those stupid older kids seemed to multiply and he just kept getting angrier and angrier for - for - stupid people who shouldn't hurt other people ever because - because - because of everything! And why couldn't his dad see that? Why couldn't these kids see that? And people who were wrong and hurt others were bad and that was that!
He put himself between the smaller kid and the older ones, his breathing fast and uneven. Little fists trembled with rage as he readied himself to target the next child who dared come closer to him or Red. He barely felt his own injuries, but he knew that he hadn’t emerged from that unscathed. He could already feel the bruises forming and - never mind that. There would be time to worry about it later.
Him. Hoo boy, Rin's in for a rude surprise. XD
"Wait, that's Rin, that monster kid from the younger group..."
"THAT Rin?! Crap, big bro let's get out of here!"
'Big bro' was still nursing his bloodied mouth from Adela's kick earlier, but hearing that... He winced, shaking a bit before he started running ahead without a word. Which, of course, got the attention of the rest of the kids who quickly followed suit. Not one of them wanted to tangle with that kid any longer, especially knowing then that they would lose.
That left the red head on the ground, panting hard as she struggled to try and get up. She had been punched and kicked so many times that she felt sick and she was hurting all over, almost blinded by pained tears. With one arm she scrubbed them away, sniffling before looking away from Rin. That she had to be saved just made her feel even more pathetic, Sephiroth would've been able to take them all on himself, but she couldn't...
8D it shall be wonderful in all the wrong ways
The other boy was definitely hurt - but he couldn't tell how badly. It was hard (so very very hard) to compose himself after that fight. He should go after those stupid kids and really teach them a lesson... but that wouldn't be helping the little kid. So it was with great difficulty that he pulled his attention away from chasing down those guys and putting his focus on on Red. Rin walked over to the little boy and held out his hand.
"They're gone now. ...Are you okay?"
no subject
She'd actually heard of Rin's reputation as well, but seeing that he was a little kid like her... It was both heartening and disheartening. That a kid like her could be that strong, but that she still wasn't...
no subject
But right now that person didn't seem too pleased. He wasn't too sure why, but it was getting him a little upset too. Perhaps if he tried doing what his father did? His dad was always full of good advice that made him feel better.
"Uhm... How come they were fightin' you? Were they pickin' on you 'cause you're small?" He stated it as if it were the most obvious fact in the world. He couldn't think of any good advice... Maybe it will come to him.
no subject
At that moment she felt unsure, glancing up at him as she shuffled her feet a bit, "... It sounds stupid, doesn't it. I try really hard but some people're just better..."
no subject
"Those other guys were just jerks and they don't have dreams and they're stupid for it!!" And here he pauses for a moment. "But that's a people thing. My dad says people aren't good at everything 'cause - 'cause then we'd be boring."
no subject
She shook a little more then, going quite red as her eyes started to fill with tears again with her emotions, "He's really great, and cool, and he's been trainin' with me sometimes but it's still not enough, he wouldn't have gotten beaten up..."
no subject
If possible, Rin seemed to glow even more than before - that was, until the little boy started to cry even more. Had he said something wrong? "U-Uhm -- uhm -- !! Th-That means that you could be just as awesome as he is b-because you're his cousin and you can fight evil and stuff when you're big like him!"
no subject
But he'd say she was foolish for thinking they were right. She stubbornly shook it off, quite literally as her red hair went everywhere, "No, they're wrong! I'm gonna do it! I'm gonna be just like him! I-I can't just stop 'cause it's hard or someone's mean..."
... Not that it helped her stop crying.
no subject
He patted the little boy on the head. "They're still wrong, no matter what!" Like his dad said, crying was good but if you didn't do anything about it, then there was no point at all. He's about to tell her such when a much better idea comes to mind.
"You gotta be the strong kinda guy that all the girls go crazy for! So just do that and you'll do anything!" He honestly has no idea what exactly it means to be that sort of guy, but dad said it so it must be awesome and amazing.
no subject
It took her a few more seconds, but the good news about it all was that she stopped crying. Unfortunately, it wasn't solely because his words were encouraging.
"M'a girl."
no subject
Weren't girls supposed to look like those pretty princesses or like their teacher? -- Oh that's why his - her hair was so long... But it was still a hard thing for him to comprehend. It shouldn't have been but - but he hadn't met many little girls. This sort of recent development wasn't something for the faint of heart! It could only be solved by a simple question.
"How long have you been a girl?"
no subject
"What's the difference anyway!? It doesn't matter, I'm still gonna be the best! You'll see!"
no subject
"Then just be the best and get cute girls and boys to like you!!"
no subject
no subject
"Then be my friend!!"
no subject
"Okay."
no subject
Even if he doubted her, there was still a silly smile on his face. He clearly wasn't going to wait for a confirmation to those questions. It didn't matter at all because she said okay and she was going to be his friend and that was that.
"Good! -- Now you just gotta worry 'bout bein' the best!"
no subject
"And I'm gonna be the best!"
no subject
It might have been a thinly veiled threat, but with that bright smile how could it be? Rin sighed and nodded his head once more. This was turning out to be a good day.
"I'm your friend now- " even as he said the words he had a hard time believing them. To think he had a friend! Not only that, but to think it had been so easy! He was totally going to try this again!!
"I'm your friend~. So, so, so that means I'm gonna help you with being the best!"
no subject
She couldn't help it -- Rin's smiling was infectious. At last she smiled, laughing a little even as she scrubbed away the last of her tears and still looked both red and beat up to hell. She'd never had a friend before.
That this guy believed in her, didn't think she was stupid or annoying and wanted to be friends -- she couldn't wait to tell Seph or her parents!
"Ne, my name's Adela. What's yours?"
no subject
"And I'm Rin! Rin Okumura! And I live over there - " he pointed towards some vague direction away from the school, " - and you gotta see something cool because only my brother has ever seen it and you're my friend so you have to see it too!"
In an instant he had her hand and he immediately started for the village, school completely forgotten. He held on a lot more tightly than he meant to. "C'mon, I wanna show you my favorite place and then we can go - uhm - we can go eat food a-and then we can - we can practice! And I can show you my mom and you can meet my dad an-and then we can play with my brother! And then we can so everything else!"
It barely crossed his mind that classes might have still been in session, that maybe it wasn't the best idea. There were just so many thing to do now and stuff to see and things to know!
no subject
"What're your mom 'n dad like? Are they nice?" The red head couldn't help asking as they went, clearly more relaxed than she had been when she was fresh from the fight.
no subject
"- she even fed a hundred people in one night! And all the food came from one huge pot and she kept cookin' and cookin' and I helped out a lot too - and it was awesome because no one started a fight because it's her place and that's how she likes it! How about your mom and dad?"
He slowed down to a stop by a small clearing. It hadn't seemed remarkable in the slightest but Rin looked upon it with an almost reverent expression. If he was going to tell her about how spectacular this place was, he was definitely holding it off.
