"No, you can't eat yourself if you henge into a bowl of ramen, go sit back down"

Ah yes, another long-awaited Sunshineverse meme!

As the name suggests, this meme is fairly straightforward: bring out the cute academy aged icons, because we'll be playing everyone as their young, academy aged selves! This time it's pretty straightforward, but here's a step by step anyway.

Step one: Post a top level comment with your character's name and affiliation at the time of their academy training. You should probably include their age--again, at the time they'd be in the academy--along with it. If, for whatever reason, your character didn't go to a ninja academy, probably just post them as a child around the time other kids would have been in the academy

Step two: Given the nature of this meme, you may want to include a scenario or two for people to tag into, but otherwise, it's a good idea to include relevant information people will need if they tag your character. If during their childhood they refused to leave trees, preferred to henge into a puddle to make people slip on them, or killed people indiscriminately, these are good things for people to know.

Step three: Tag to others, and relive your ~~high school~~ Academy days!

NOTE: Ages in this meme are synched up. That means school-kid Karin won't be able to kick it with school-kid Kushina. But! A school-kid Karin could end up interacting with a somewhat younger than current canon Kushina!

1: Although it isn't required to, all tags and threads in this meme can absolutely count toward actual in-game history for the characters involved!

2: Threads that count for history also count for activity! Just like the test drive meme, if the threads count for history, they also count for activity

3: Don't forget the NPC journal! This is a great opportunity to interact with dead/distanced/etc characters that would still be around or would be prominently involved with the history of your characters, and that's what this NPC journal is there for! Use it!

Bingo. She'd found Minato's student that had apparently declared he'd be Hokage one day. This kid had no idea how lucky he was.

"You can address me as 'Kushina-sama'. It's the least you can do for almost ruining all my hard work."

Maybe she was teasing him a bit, maybe she wasn't. Who knew.

He hummed, leaning from side to side, then flashed her a brilliant smile and bounced to the side a step so she couldn't take a swing at him if she was the type. "Nah, you're not Hokage." He sounded absolutely cheerful. "But I'll call you Kushina-nee, you're plenty young enough for that~."

Ooh, lucky kid, she'd been about to aim a punch for his head.

"How young do I look to you anyway? Maybe I'm gonna be Hokage when old man Sandaime steps down."

Not that she was seriously contending for it. Or claiming to. There was someone else she was supporting for that position.

"Mmmm you could do it but only if you're keeping the seat warm for meee~." He waved a hand at her, the other holding the basket to his chest.

"What, you think you're gonna be Hokage?" she asked with a snort. "Dream on, kid."

"Ha! It's not a dream, it's a prophesy, and don't you forget it~!"

"Uh huh, I'll believe it when you're getting inducted."

"Just you wait and see Kushina-nee~!!!" He lifted his chin and straightened his shoulders. "I will be the best Hokage that the countries have ever had the chance at."

"Oh yeah? You talk big for a genin shrimp. Maybe if you can ever beat me or my boyfriend I'll start to think you might be worthy of your claim."

"Then I will! You'll see. Maybe not now, but I'll get strong and I'll change the world." He pointed at her, then turned to look around, bouncing once in place as he followed her.

"Like I said, I'll believe it when I see it."

She reached out a hand to dig her knuckles into his head as she led him toward the training fields.

He made a noise of aggravation at the gesture. "Hey! Mean! Have a little faith in a guy."

"You don't get my faith until you prove yourself. Got that?"

He hated that phrase, but he lifted his chin anyway, flashing her a brilliant grin instead of a glare. "Just wait for it."

"Hmph. And what if I don't want to wait?"

"Then that's too bad cause I~ am not gonna rush recklessly just to prove myself to you."

"Alright, fine. But you better come find me when you think you're ready."

"And what if I just wanna see what you can do and don't think I can beat you up then? GOnna hold it against me?"

"Don't flatter yourself. I won't accept your challenge until you reach jounin. Until then, I could beat you with one hand behind my back."

"OI! Jounin isn't the marker you should use!" He quieted for a moment, but immediately rallied. "You know people have to recommend for that, and maybe not everyone has people who they think'd do it. Not that I'm not going to have people, they'll be all over that but- Yeah! Just. Yeah."

"Oh? It isn't? I think I'll make whatever marker I want because I don't want to beat up some genin fresh from the Academy into a pulp, y'know. Especially one who doesn't know exactly who they're facing. Or maybe if your sensei thinks you're ready to face me, I'll take his word for it."

Even though he was holding her basket, she had no qualms about reaching over to drop her fist on his head.

He yelped, then gave her a definite pout. "Hey! I didn't say right this second... maybe tomorrow or something!"

"You've got years of hard training to do before you'd even stand a chance of lasting more than a minute against me, y'know! And I'll tell you now, I won't go easy on you."

Boyfriend's student or not, it would be an insult to them both if she held back more than she had to. Not that she intended to tell him that part.

"Then I'll just have to work up to a minute! Don't underestimate me like that!" He huffed at her, shifting the basket in his grip.

"Only working up to a minute? That'll get you nowhere fast. Aim for five and then maybe you'll last forty seconds."

It was way too easy to pick on him and she couldn't bring herself to regret it.
