Test Drive Post!
Sunshineverse | ||||||||
Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right? Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header: Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation Then you comment around and play with everyone else! If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country. One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on. And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application.

He could only stay home and in the compound for so long before the questions and pressure about raising a family came up again, his plans still non-existent.
Itachi was here for the tea, Father being an unexpected variable, but he would still be the respectful son he was raised to be, and offer his help if needed.

"Though, it seems I will soon." And there was a careful nudge of his chin towards the basket and its items.
Now, if a kitten could come close enough, it could help the thin tension that always hung around the firstborn and his Father. Nowadays, it seemed like their blood was the only thing tying them together.

Fugaku nudged the basket over and then set it between them, kitten and all. The kitten was awake, just lying in the basket like a stuffed toy. "Your mother might enjoy having some help in the garden." And if Itachi buried the bulbs, Fugaku wouldn't have to crawl around on his knees.

He didn't get to be around cats too often, not with being surrounded by crows any other time. Cats tended to interfere then.
"I'll make a visit to catch up and help." He knew what the conversation was leading to.

"I'm sure no child intends to worry their parents. It simply happens." Especially when one had a child like Itachi. Fugaku watched Itachi handle the cat. Fugaku has grown up with mousers--very business like cats who only wanted a cuddle every once in a while.
"...then I will try to see that the house doesn't get flood with aunts and uncles and well wishers, so you can actually visit with your mother." Though, how Itachi planned to be clan head when he could stand so little of the family's pestering was beyond Fugaku. Being clan head was like being eaten alive by small, noisy birds.

He's away so often that he unfortunately forgets Fugaku can be lenient. He tries to time it, he really does, too much time away and it seems like he's trying to separate from the clan entirely, and to little time gone and he'll be roped into grooming for the clan head too early for his liking.
He knew he'd have to do it eventually. It was really only a matter of time, and when the time came his silent and subtle protest would cease. He would put up with anything he had to.
Anything so Sasuke could continue making his own choices, even if right now they were trying to catch up to Itachi, still.
"Mm, I'll appreciate that." As little comments about his lack of a love life would always be appreciated. It's now he looks ahead, retaining his earlier passive expression. He's sure they'll leave as soon as the rain wants to clear up.

Maybe if Fugaku could say Itachi was at least home sometimes, tensions would ease. It was odd, Fugaku had been more concerned about Sasuke when the boys were younger, and now that was turned more and more on Itachi. After all, if Itachi resented or disliked his clan, he wouldn't be a very good clan head. And Sasuke was teammates with Hinata, who would be head of her clan one day. It seemed unlikely the son of Minato and Kushina wouldn't have a hand in future Konoha politics, so perhaps Sasuke would be the better choice for clan head.
If he were willing, anyway. Fugaku got the feeling he was a very long way from retirement.
Maybe he and Mikoto could just run away in the night and force Itachi to assume power that way. Fugaku hadn't been out of Konoha in years, but the search party the Uchiha would mount, probably assuming he'd been kidnapped (but honestly, who would want to kidnap him?) wouldn't be worth avoiding.
Maybe Fugaku could get Mikoto to talk to Itachi about it. He probably wouldn't start looking for exits the moments the words "clan" and "duty" came out of her mouth.

He would bend, and he would accept the grooming and all protests would die on his end. No matter how much he wants something else, he understands he won't get it-- that fate doesn't work out his way.
Itachi was good at a lot of things that he didn't like to do, and that he didn't want to do.
He's not totally unaware of the goings on in his Father's mind, it was on both either way's, it was only a matter of time and location.
"The rain is letting up." It's not pounding as hard, and some of the sun is trying to break through the clouds. He'll keep that kitten in his lap for now.

Fugaku was glad he could have such deep and meaningful conversations with his son.Fugaku nodded and wondered if it had even rained at the house, or Mikoto was looking at a clear sky wondering what was keeping Fugaku. She'd probably assume he'd been accosted by a family member."Will you be in Konoha long this time?" Not that Fugaku would be likely to see his eldest son even if he was.

Though, the chance of Obito deciding it was enough and taking him off missions was rather high. Obito tended to worry, a lot, and he had the power to do something about it.

Sometimes Fugaku thought he had brought this on himself. When Itachi was younger, Fugaku hadn't kept a very close eye on him. Itachi was either off training or running missions or at the Academy, so there wasn't much need for Fugaku to monitor the boy as long as he was progressing as a ninja. If he was doing as he should, why make him check in or worry if he were out late or things like that? Now Fugaku had a child grown to a man Fugaku rarely saw, more rarely heard from, and quite often he was sure he didn't even know if Itachi was injured or recovering from something. Itachi was much like a cat, coming and going as he pleased, when he pleased, without a please or thank you or "would you like me to do anything for you while I'm here?"
"If you have time..." Fugaku paused, watching his son's face closely during that pause. "The roof needs some work."

He honestly wouldn't have been surprised if Fugaku had worded it as a demand, he was his Father, superior, and clan head, after all. It meant he was treading carefully, wanting to see if he would do it of his own volition testing to see just how badly he wanted to be here.
He'd long ago caught onto it. Accepting runs the risk of showing reluctance, and denying simply shows disrespect, and he might not want to be around often nor throw himself into his duties as heir-to-be, but he still didn't want to blatantly disrespect his Father.
"What sort of damage has it sustained?" he asks, instead, keeping his calm expression, though turning his gaze back to the kitten in his lap, who had started off with a quiet purr.

"It," Fugaku says at last, not bothering to hide his pause. "Is old. Old things do not particularly need anything to happen to them to need maintenance." But Fugaku doesn't think Itachi's ever had to manage a house and make sure it's sealed tight for the winter.
Fugaku wonders, really, what his son knows about maintaining things. Keeping difficult machines that break themselves down running, managing unpleasant tasks simply because no one else will do them.
"If you do not have time, I can ask someone else." Fugaku looked to the slackening rain. "I understand that you are busy."

Fugaku would be on the mark though. With his missions, his focus is on shinobi life, and he does not know how to maintain a building nor any machinery.
Your firstborn cannot even cook for himself, Fugaku. Unless you plan on his wife always cooking his meals...
He knows how to maintain his weapons. His clothing, for travel. His health, to a degree, though he is still occasionally keeping medicine. Most of all, he knows how to maintain secrets.
"Actually." he decides, brows raising just slightly, as he too comes to his own decision.
"It is something I'd like to learn." Yes, he does pick up quick, he is known for his intelligence, and as a teacher sorted it, his ability to teach himself, but he cannot go into something like this without any reference point or guide.
