Test Drive Post!

Sunshineverse
Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right?

Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header:
Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation

Then you comment around and play with everyone else!

If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country.

One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on.

And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application.

Uchiha Fugaku | Naruto | Konoha

[personal profile] disgruntledmountain 2014-11-20 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Despite how crowded the tea shop had become, the seat next to Fugaku remained empty. He doubted it was because it was in the drafty, slightly damp corner facing the road, but had every idea that it was because he was occupying the other end of the bench. Fugaku stared out into the unseasonal rain storm, straight down miserable stuff, arms crossed. He wasn't so far from Konoha proper that it was unreasonable to think some recognized him (or recognized that he was Uchiha and old and therefore not pleasant). It was probably more that Fugaku's expression, he had been told, looked like he ate children for breakfast.

Of course, the day he'd decided to run a frivalous errand for Mikoto, he'd gotten stuck in a freak shower. Fugaku looked down at the basket at his feet. In it sat a few bulbs and a small kitten--large ears and legs and fuzz--napping. The bulbs were for Mikoto's garden--something had dug up a few of her favorites, and Fugaku thought he should replace them since he was out and about. It was always a good idea to stay on Mikoto's good side. Fugaku looked down at the fuzzier and smaller kitten in his lap. This one refused to sleep in the basket like her sister, but had cried and crawled around until Fugaku had let her in his lap.

Fugaku imagined Mikoto would laugh at this situation--Fugaku waiting out the rain in a frilly tea shop with a basket full of flower bulbs, flowers, and kittens. How was he going to carry the kittens if they were both awake when the rain let up? He'd juggled Sasuke enough as a baby, he ought to be able to manage kittens. Fugaku sighed to himself and looked out at the rain.

...he should probably check up on where Sasuke was and what he was doing. He'd given up on keeping track of Itachi years ago. he should at least have some kind of report to give about his children when people asked about them rather then "probably not dead, as people are legally obligated to tell me if they are." He'd ask Mikoto first and see what she knew. He would be able to find her, at least. Maybe she would also give him the good news Sasuke was interested in a girl (Fugaku had given up on Itachi's ever fathering a child).

The rain blew a little sideways, disturbing the kitten in his lap. Fugaku reached down and absently rubbed its head as it settled, frowning.
abileunaspada: (So you're saying I could use that?)

I don't even play an Uchiha character here and I shrieked on seeing this.

Huh... What a day to be caught out in a late autumn rainstorm. The red-headed kunoichi sighed as the rain splashed at her ankles even beneath her umbrella, frowning at the wet and increasingly muddy sandals she wore. She'd have to take a hot bath after this to get the feeling back in her toes, and the thought of said bath comforted her in the downpour.

At least she had dropped off the child she had been watching for that D-Rank, with the slip that confirmed her mission completion in her pocket. So it was while she was on her way back that she spotted an unusual figure in a warm tea shop -- someone she could recognize as Uchiha, seeing as he had that look about him. No umbrella, either...

...

Damn her conscious. Adela approached then, closing her umbrella as her good eye wandered over his packages and such before a gentle expression fell on him, "Excuse me, sir, are you here waiting out the storm?"

"Uchiha-sama?" The tone was questioning, but he was rather certain that he had the right person. He had cause to see the man more often than most parents if only because once his son graduated from his class, he still had other clan children coming through that he needed to keep an eye on.

That wasn't to say he'd seen him any time recently though, and he came to stand by the seat that had gone long abandoned with a friendly smile. "Would you mind some company?"

Fun fact: Sakura had absolutely no idea what Fugaku Uchiha looked like. She knew what Mikoto Uchiha looked like, but for some reason (probably that she didn't concern herself with Uchiha affairs when she could help it) she'd never encountered Fugaku before. It was ultimately a matter of necessity that the girl in the pink braid ended up taking the unoccupied portion of the bench. The tea shop had become unbearably cramped by the time she passed it by, and the rain was beginning to get so heavy that it was in danger of compromising the wax seal coating the large scroll she carried.

Although it slowed her down, it was better to wait for the rain to pass than to fail to deliver important documents in a state that would actually be usable because she continued through the rain when there was shelter she could have used.

She recognized his features as both Uchiha and old, but the idea of sitting next to an unpleasant man was more favorable than the loud and rowdy people who were the only other places she could try to sit and wait for the storm to pass with.

She was careful to sit on the far end so that there was a respectful distance between she and the Uchiha already occupying it, but otherwise she didn't bother to ask permission. Asking permission opened up the possibility of sitting elsewhere or standing, and she wished to do neither.

She did glance at the kittens in his lap and basket briefly when she sat, carefully arranging the scroll so that it wouldn't crease or crumple under its own weight over however long it would take for the rain to pass...but she did at least make no attempt at conversation.

That would probably have been awkward.

Fugaku looked up at the girl--red-hair, Konoha-nin. Uzumaki, maybe? She looked vaguely familiar, but that meant next to nothing as many people as he knew. He couldn't keep up with who was who with all the younger ninja.

She had good manners, at least. She wasn't timid either, as she'd approached a strange man and asked if he needed her to walk him home. Was he really that old now (how old was he anyway)? Then again, anyone over the age of forty was probably all the same old to a teenager.

Fugaku cleared his throat. "The rain." Fugaku looked her over again. Was she even a teenager? Fugaku was getting bad at aging children. "I wouldn't want to put you out. I can wait." The small kitten in his lap stretched and kneaded her claws into Fugaku's leg.
abileunaspada: (Okay fine I'm smiling.)

[personal profile] abileunaspada 2014-11-20 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Had she known that he was gauging her as much younger than she was, the girl might have been offended enough to say something about it. Still, the man seemed like he needed a little prodding, and making sure he got home safe was just another duty of an average Konoha nin in her eyes.

"It's no trouble, I'm not in a rush. And who knows when the rain is going to end, you should probably get home sooner than later," Her lips curved into a smile as she glanced over to the kittens, and she paused before adding, "It looks like you could use an extra set of hands too, rain or shine. Seriously, I wouldn't offer if I didn't want to help."

Fugaku turned his head from the rain watching. He recognized the voice. Sasuke's Academy teacher, one who was still alive and teachingso one Fugaku still dealt with. After all, the future of the Uchiha clan was his concern (since neither of his children seemed very concerned with it at all), and Fugaku had a particular...knack for making Uchiha children behave a little better.

Not to say the Uchiha children were worse behaved their other children (okay, perhaps, they certainly seemed to catch more things and classmates n fire).

Fugaku had been doing just fine without any company, but he grunted. Brooding over Sasuke and Itachi's lack of children wouldn't make one appear. "You can sit down if you want." Fugaku had never been a fount of politeness.

[personal profile] disgruntledmountain 2014-11-20 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Fugaku hoped the hair was natural, then that seemed a cruel thing to hope someone's hair was pink and decided it would be better if it were an unfortunate fashion choice. Was dyeing hair now a thing for kids? If it were, he was sure someone in his clan would complain about it to him soon.

Speaking of complaining, he owed Obito a letter about some new policies the ancients of the clan wanted him to write. As clan head, they thought that was Fugaku's job. Fugaku wondered if Obito just burned Fugaku's letters the second they arrived. If Fugaku had something very important to talk to Obito about, he lectured in person.

Fugaku barely felt the pad of kitten feet on his leg before the tiny kitten was off on the bench and marching up to the girl, calling loudly for attention and possibly food.

OMF--- lmfao Fugaku with kittens!

[personal profile] shunshinoshishi 2014-11-20 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
If there was one other person besides Fugaku's immediate family who's gotten used to that grumpy face, it was Shisui. The shop sure was crowded, and, admittedly, he'd spotted the empty seat but had sort of craned his neck to try and find a different one. Ahem. But it wasn't like he was avoiding his uncle altogether.

Just... you know. It wouldn't be the most pleasant sort of company to be keeping.

So he slips next to him, arms crossed on the table, and glances over at whatever Fugaku's hand was doing under the table.

....

Wait what?!

"Is that what I think it is?" And, as an afterthought: "Good evening, Sir."

Fugaku looked at the kittens. She had a point. He would probably end up with kittens zipped in pockets if he tried this alone. The last thing he wanted was to deliver traumatized kittens to the house.

With a mix of a sigh and a grunt Fugaku nodded. "You have a good point." And the smaller kitten was starting to wake up. He really needed to get them home before they got hungry.

Fugaku reached down and grabbed the handle of his basket before standing up. The older one got, the more of an art standing became. Kids bounced up and down without a thought, but as joints stiffened or gave out, simply standing on a chilly, rainy day reminded Fugaku of every one of his days of service to Konoha.

He really was that old, wasn't he?

Fugaku held the kitten in one hand and offered it to the girl. It gave a hideously loud meow. "Would you like me to carry the umbrella?" Or he might have to stoop a little. Or more than a little.

"Hoderi -- that's not food!" Sasuke's voice cut through the rain before Sasuke himself did, diving after a juvenile goshawk that burst through the door with claws outstretched for the kitten in the basket. He tackled the bird just in time, taking a wing to the face before wrestling the disappointed animal back onto his shoulder, keeping one feathery leg in his grip.

"Just because it's lying around doesn't mean you can eat it," he scolded, peering down at the basket and the kitten to make sure it wasn't anything but frightened. He turned to the man whose basket it was, an apology on his lips --

Only for the words to die in his throat as his face went pale.

"Father," he managed. "I'm --" He paused, voice shrinking. "Sorry?"
notveryspecial: (Flowing pink hair)

[personal profile] notveryspecial 2014-11-20 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
...As it happened, her hair was natural. She'd gotten into quite a bit of trouble over the color of it during her lifetime, but it seemed untrue to herself to dye it into a more natural color, and she wouldn't have known which color to choose even if she wanted to.

For the most part, she'd determined to ignore the man sitting near to her and his animals. It was next to impossible to ignore a loud kitten approaching her, however. Perhaps it wasn't impossible...but she didn't expect the cat to be awake or friendly when she sat, and so the sudden meowing caught her by surprise.

She glanced down at the tiny thing in surprise for just a moment, before reaching out to stroke the soft fur on its head with two fingers in response to its approach. Was it rude to touch his kitten without permission? Possibly, but he should have controlled it better, in that case. That seemed reasonable to her, at least.

Although she did speak after a moment, it was to the kitten, and still not to the man. "...If you continue to make so much noise, you'll wake your sibling."
senseiofthesea: (I'm listening I promise you.)

[personal profile] senseiofthesea 2014-11-20 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
He didn't mind. He was well used to the man's brisk manner, and after having been Itachi's teammate, then teaching Sasuke? He had more than his fair share of exposure to the man. He settled into the seat and gave him another bright smile before turning to put in his order so he could give the man his full attention, observing the goods, and animals, scattered about his person.

"If I may ask, is Mikoto-sama the cause of your current predicament?"
disgruntledmountain: (Ticked off)

Fugaku's frown deepened.

"I hope that's not how you greet your elders." As much as he'd had Shisui in his house and life as the boy was growing up, he reserved the right to lecture Shisui on his lapse of manners whenever he wanted to.

"It is a kitten." At least, Fugaku was hoping that was what Shisui was assuming it was.

"That'd be nice. Thank you," Unable to help a laugh at the meow, her hand gingerly took the small cat before trying to make it comfortable, testing to see if it wanted pets or where it liked them. Making sure their passengers were comfy on the way home would help too, if only to make the journey more tolerable.

After a beat she held the door open for Fugaku, waiting patiently for him to go through. She'd have to ask where they were going, but if it was just a leisurely pace and walking back to his home then directions shouldn't have been an issue. It wasn't like there'd be danger, especially since if she was right and he really was Uchiha they'd be going back into Konoha's main areas.

"Oh no, no." Just waving dismissively at the suggestion. "No. Just you." ...Sorry.

Well, to be honest, he wasn't entirely sure what Fugaku expected him to say in greeting besides a rather polite 'good evening'. 'Hello, most honorable Uncle and leader of our most prestigious Clan. Would it be alright if I sat next to you this ... not-so-fine evening?'

Then again, Shisui was always rather casual with Itachi's family.

"I know-- But why is it in your lap?" When did anything or anyone, besides Mikoto, work up the balls to sit in Fugaku's lap?

Hold on just a second-- did he just sense movement elsewhere? Leaning back just a bit, Shisui spots the basket with another kitten curled up in it. Aha!

He quirks an eyebrow, eyeing the contents of the basket in suspicion, and then moving that same suspicious gaze over to Fugaku.

"Did you and Aunty Miko get into a fight?"

"Father." He greets with trained respect, though his gaze is trained on the basket at his father's feet, and its contents. Mother has a lot to do with this.
After bowing his head shortly, he quietly takes a seat beside him, almost offering to take the kitten off of his hands. He doesn't seem too thrilled.

The tea shop happened to have some cute pastries in the display, that's why Mika had stepped in just minutes before the rain started. Not wanting to get soaked and having no place in particular to go she stayed by the counter to enjoy her coffee. Someone had over-roasted the beans so it was a little bitter. Despite not being one to add cream or sugar the woman put a few drops in to cover the tang. Not getting coffee here again.

With so many people also coming in Mika began looking around at everyone. People watching was kind of her thing. She'd make up stories about each stranger. Their names, hobbies, jobs--

A familiar face made Mika pull back slightly. Oh shit, it was Fugaku. She'd never gotten along with him, having the look of a thug with her piercings and tattoo. It didn't help that she was friendly with Itachi either. The old man probably thought she'd corrupt him or something.

Mika should have moved out of view but it was too late. They made eye contact. Her mouth turned into an awkward smile but there wasn't an attempt at moving. Nope she'll just sit here and be awkward by herself. That was before...she saw a fuzzy little kitten sleeping in a basket by Fugaku. Oh no. Not cats. Her greatest weakness.

The temptation to go look was strong, Mika had actually stood up halfway. It was so cute! Wait, no, she wasn't...but little cat... Mika was so torn.

Fugaku had been moving to kick the basket and kitten under the bench when the whatever was streaking towards it was captured. Old he was, but Fugaku still had the Sharingan, and he could track quick movements like that.

Oddly, Fugaku recognized Sasuke by his hands.

Fugaku straightened and looked up at his son, frowning a little at Sasuke's expression. "I hope your summons haven't been eating Megumi-san's cats." Personally Fugaku thought the woman was senile and blind enough she couldn't tell her hoard of felines apart, but what mattered was she thought someone was stealing her cats, and if she decided it was Sasuke's summons...

People did not live that long by being nice and companionable.

"It is my lap because it wouldn't sleep in the basket." Fugaku wondered if Shisui would ever learn to wait for one question to be answered before he launched into another. Probably not.

Fugaku kept his look perfectly disapproving, knowing Shisui probably had that look memorized. "We did not, not that it's any of your business if we had or not. We have mice in the house, and something is eating her garden." Fugaku motioned to the basket. "So I thought cats would fix that." He didn't have any ninja children to sic on the mice anymore.
disgruntledmountain: (Kind of smile)

[personal profile] disgruntledmountain 2014-11-20 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
And she opened doors. Fugaku should probably figure out who she was and who had trained her. Maybe he could get them to train some Uchiha brats to have better manners. Fugaku stepped out and slowly opened the umbrella.

"It isn't a very long walk," Fugaku said, a little belated. He and his hip could make it, so it wasn't very far at all. Maybe he would get her to walk him as far as a relations house and not have her go all the way. He could wait out the rain there or commandeer an umbrella. He was clan head, he could do things like that. It was compensation for all the times people threatened their children with a visit from 'Fugaku-sama.'

It was nice to know Fugaku's reputation wasn't going to be damaged by his carrying around kittens. Then again, Mikoto was usually the source of anything bright, cute, or cheerful in his life.

"We have a small infestation of mice and other rodents. The garden is suffering." And there were only so many mice you could pin with a senbon before it become ridiculous.

Fugaku isn't exactly surprised Itachi comes ghosting out of nowhere, unlooked for and unannounced. his oldest is rather like a cat himself, coming and going on his own schedule.

"Itachi." Fugaku gave his son a little nod and handed over the fussing kitten. "I wasn't aware you were in Konoha."

Towards Konoha. It was a truly encouraging sign, and it allowed her to relax when she hadn't even realized she'd been tense -- with all that had happened recently, she'd found herself more on guard for everything. That kind of paranoia was unhealthy so close to home though, and now it was looking like it wasn't even close to needed anymore. As strict as this man looked, it seemed he was a lot friendlier than she had first anticipated. Someone who wasn't would've more insistently pushed her away, as far as she knew.

Though she remained close, she made sure to keep a personable distance away from Fugaku from beneath the umbrella -- so much as she could for them both to still share it comfortably, anyway. It wouldn't matter if she got a little wet, but she was still holding a kitten and if she stepped too far she had a feeling that the umbrella would get held out further to cover her. And that wasn't the point, she was supposed to be escorting him!

Still, after a little bit it felt too quiet, and her curiosity simply couldn't be contained anymore as she glanced up at him, stepping carefully to make sure she wouldn't splash or trip as they conversed, "Sorry for not saying so earlier. My name's Milani Adela. Can I know your name please?"
