Test Drive Post!
Sunshineverse | ||||||||
Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right? Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header: Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation Then you comment around and play with everyone else! If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country. One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on. And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application.

Rui tilts her head. She hadn't expected him to make the suggestion. Not that she'll turn it down. Anything was better than going through the motions of returning home while waiting for her next assignment. If Kisame thought he could swing a mission for them she'd take it. Almost jump at the opportunity.
"Anything that keeps us still for long periods of time. I've had enough of those missions to last a while."

Looking forward to the upcoming mission had his steps lighten and his stride increase a little. "We might have to wait a few days for something suitable to cross the desk, but I'm sure I can convince the staff to hold a likely mission aside for us."
Convince, intimidate; it ended up more of the same, really. Kisame hoped it would be a long mission. Some time away from Kiri in the company of one of the few he actually enjoyed the company of, as much as possible, would be welcome. A shame adding Sephiroth to the mix would probably make all the higher ups balk and send up too many alarm bells.

But the lightness she can relate to. It's hardly an inconvenience to spend a few days in Kiri with the prospect of leaving not long after that on the horizon. If anything it would make the short stay that much more bearable. "I don't doubt it Kisame-san."
And why should she, one didn't get the nickname of Kirigakure's Monster for no reason at all. Funny how once the moniker scared her like a boogeyman, and now it was merely a facet. If they were lucky it would be a minimum of a week long, but longer wouldn't go unwelcomed. It was probably all they could do to get this mission without a great deal of suspicion. There were reasons they rarely crossed paths for missions. The main line being what would the point be when on your own each could do a great deal more for the village as a whole.
"What would you want for the mission?"

He paused a moment. "I'd enjoy a mission where I got some real fighting in, but I'll take what's available, the more straightforward, the better."
It would be a relief not to have to pretend or posture, or keep track of hidden as well as official objectives. The last mission had had too much posturing for his taste, and hadn't even ended in much of a fight. Civilian thugs made such poor opponents.

"Maybe we'll get lucky." One could only hope that they would. It would go a lkng way kn satisfying her own desire to move if it entailed some amount of fighting. Still even if it didn't there was a chance she could help with his desire for a fight if in a small sense. Assuming he wasn't opposed to a spar in the interim.
"I'm sure you could work out some of your need for a fight when we get back." Not the same as the real thing but spars could be relaxing in their own way.
no subject
"And suggesting a spar, Rui-san? I would enjoy that. The training fields outside the Hoshigaki compound once we've both had some time to rest?"
Kisame could have suggested a more neutral training ground, because while it was technically public, so many Hoshigaki had used and altered it over the years to suit their needs that it was theirs in spirit, if not in name. He's familiar there, though, and there's something to be said for familiarity.

"It's been a while," she says shrugging slightly. Which was to say she was curious if she'd made any progress and Kisame was the safest person to test that out with.
"You'll let me know when you're ready." She doesn't phrase it as a question, nor does she protest the location. She's long since used to the idea that any time they'll spar it's likely to be on the one training ground he's most familiar with. She's actually stopped caring that once could interpret the whole spar as a trial by fire.

He obviously hesitates, but he knows he should have taken a seal, and now that his thoughts have been cleared by the promise of a spar and a good mission, what is waiting for him at home intrudes again, but he's more relaxed about it.
"Speaking of necessary things, I'm certain paperwork has piled up in my absence. I will be expected to take care of it before seeing to my own leisure. I should hurry back so we can get to that spar, eh?"
With that he drops a very brief bow in her direction and speeds up. Kisame is almost hoping she'll keep pace, because he'd enjoy the company, but he's aware of his stamina.
no subject
She really should just go beat her head against a tree. That was almost as bad as people calling her cute or complimenting her for improving. But she's stopped from actually moving to do just that when he speaks again. Blinking up at him confused until he's finished explaining. Of course.
"You should," she agrees. She's looking forward to the spar as much as he is. And long term she might not be able to keep up, but they're closer to the border and the seal that would take them across the water to the outer edges of their home. It was always her intention to take a seal for the last leg, she just preferred to walk while she could. It's will little hesitation that Rui falls once more into stride with him. Silent save for the soft thumps of their feet hitting the dirt road.
I could swear I replied to this. D: sorry for the late!
He's very pleased, and shoots her a grin when she keeps pace beside him, and then settles into the run. The silence and the company are excellent. He feels almost content, but the road will end soon enough.
Kisame resolves to enjoy it while it lasts and lets himself relax as much as he dares.
The pace eats up the road, though, and they leave many other travelers far behind very fast. Kisame isn't close to tired, but he's aware that others can have trouble keeping up, so he looks over at Rui for the first time in a while to check on her status.
s'all good it happens
She'd expected little else once she matched pace. While the little spurt of conversation is pleasant, the quiet is equally welcome. It's comfortable with Kisame that silences with others isn't. That underlying layer of tension obviously missing as they speed along toward their destination. It's probably ironic that she can find it easy to relax with a shinobi such as he.
Still Rui smiles when he checks on her. She might have less stamina, but she was fine. Starting to feel those first signs of protest from her body at taking such a pace but she'd be fine a bit longer before she would inevitably need to slow down. She'd apparently misjudged just the slightest bit his exact pace. Still it's clear she means to tell him she's fine. Nothing to worry about yet.
no subject
He'll trust her to know when she's pushed too far and so continues the pace. The seal isn't far now, anyway.
It's only the spar that has him anxious to be home, but the good feeling makes him feel a little less like everything that can go wrong, will. Maybe there will even be good news waiting. About what, he can't begin to guess, but just maybe...
no subject
She was tiring, it was expected, still she pushed to keep up even when she hit that point where it was probably better to slow down and catch her breath then keep going. But as much as she would like to remain his running companion Rui does eventually slow. Careful not to fall into a dead stop after maintaining such a pace for so long.
She doesn't expect him to slow with her, he had pressing things to do if they were to get that spar and maybe a decent mission. So she only offers a quick silent wave as she falls back, the stitch in her side well worth the jabs of pain as she breathed. The slower pace would at least allow her the chance to recompose herself before entering the village.
Rui was just sad that slowing down would mean losing his companionship.
no subject
So when she waves, he turns around and gives her an approving nod. "I look forward to our spar, Rui-san."
Then he continues on, smiling and quickening his pace, because now he wants to push himself and be at his best when they spar. It will be exciting, that's for certain.
