Test Drive Post!
Sunshineverse | ||||||||
Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right? Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header: Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation Then you comment around and play with everyone else! If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country. One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on. And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application.

The man approaching is the one with a slight discoloration on his hand from where he has removed his wedding ring. The bachelor apparently thought Kisame is a flagrant warning sign and backed down, allowing his friend to step up to the plate.
Well, a wicked child like that needs to be put in his place. Nanako shifts slightly, looping one arm around Kisame's and drawing a large bicep to her generous, sweater-swathed bosom. It's where the man had been staring for the past ten minutes, so it catches his attention almost instantly.
"May we help you?" Nanako asks, even and sweet. The man seems speechless for a moment, eyes darting between the pair of them incredulously.

He wonders how many kinds of fool the man must be to approach. If he is the civilian he appears, how can he hope to catch the eye of someone as powerful and intelligent as Shishito-san? If he is shinobi, which is growing less likely by the second, he should know better than to approach a Hoshigaki, unless he's that powerful, which so very few are. Ignorance or arrogance, either will cost him.
There is a minute twitch of muscle when she reaches out to touch him, but otherwise no sign of his slight discomfort. It's not hard to guess what Shishito-san has planned, and Kisame can slide into the part for the mission easily enough.
When she's done with her sweet question Kisame smiles, and his smile is all very sharp teeth. "Countryman or guest, we would be happy to assist you, wouldn't we?"
At the last Kisame turns his head towards Shishito-san and softens his smile into the closest he can manage to fond. It probably wouldn't be enough to fool a shinobi, but civilians rarely look past the surface of things.

"I was just thinking that such a pretty woman must be terribly bored—" She stops listening around then, but keeps her eyes glued to his face and her smile unfaltering. Her full attention is focused on the very, very faint traces of discoloration she can see on his tongue as he continues to prattle on. It takes about five seconds for her to piece blurred and camouflaged marks together to form a certain seal.
One she had seen on three naughty children who had been forced to choke on their own blood once they had decided to finally cooperate.
Hidden and comfortably curled, her pinky taps out a simple codeword on Kisame's skin: Puppet.

So when the code is tapped into his skin, Kisame is not surprised. Trust Shishito-san to have found the answer. The question, of course, is what to do next. The two most obvious options are immediate death or immediate capture, but there may be others that are better. Using the same code, careful to hide the subtle motions even from shinobi view, Kisame taps back, trusting her to understand his request for the best method: Proceed?
While he does that he stretches his senses, looking, listening, and feeling for any kind of sign of the puppetmaster within range.

"Dear, would you allow me to let him down gently?" She touches his chest with her other hand, feather light but long enough to channel a negligible snap of chakra; just enough to signify that he had permission to unseal his sword of choice, should he see the need. "Just a few moments alone, I promise."
There is a scroll with her Darling tucked inside, hidden beneath the shawl. She won't need more than a few minutes once hostilities kick off, so he had best capitalize what time they have.

When he gets up there is a very small and slim scroll resting against her leg. Should she open the scroll, one of his sharks will be summoned and go directly to him, attacking anything that tries to slow it down. And if anyone besides Shishito-san opens the scroll, well! They deserve the drowning in store for them.
"I wouldn't expect anything less of you, my Darling. I'll go stretch my legs down by the beach, eh?"
That's the direction Kisame does appear to go, but a benefit of being a Hoshigaki means holding a water clone intact over far greater distance. The real Kisame only takes a minute or two to find the other target, and begins following him, cautious to remain at a distance most shinobi wouldn't notice. Samehada's scroll is at the ready, but he won't summon it unless he needs to.
He follows until the target stops and sits down on a bench in the ornamental garden. So close to water; this could be a trap. But even if it is, Kisame is confident he could fight his way free. Still, he doesn't choose the closest pond for his technique, and instead selects the sluggishly burbling stream. He's no Houzuki to actually become water, but Hiding In Water is a technique in most Kiri-nin's repertoires, and Kisame has learned how to use it to great effect over the years.

"I can't decide if you're an idiot or just malicious," Nanako declares, shifting her shawl up like a shield and subtly maneuvering her Darling's scroll onto her lap. "Really, it isn't enough to try to ruin your wife's happiness? You want to disrupt mine, and my dearest's happiness as well?" She looks at him coldly, curling her fingers as she carefully counts down from 180 in her head. She makes it to 42 before the man decides to give up and try for the element of surprise, turning a shamed neck-rub into a fluid grab-and-throw motion.
Her Darling dealt with the kunai and she analyzes it almost idly as she stands, twirling the massive, evil-looking naginata with almose too much ease. That smelting was Grass-style, she knew, but the blade shape was one from Sand. Another conundrum, another deliberately confusing detail. Her expression grows sour, as the living puppet leaps back with more alacrity than a body in that shape should have.
Another lie. She hoped Kisame was enjoying himself, at least.

But Kisame holds himself still and waits. The waiting is rewarded very shortly when a woman that can't possibly be anything but a powerful kunoichi appears in a blink. She's skilled, just from that alone, and the hand seal she forms is signal enough that she's the master of these puppets. He memorizes what is said as he pulls himself slowly free of the water. The water clone he creates simultaneously has the desired effect of just a moment of distraction, and the puppet doesn't dodge fast enough to avoid Kisame's blade. Not immediately fatal, but the puppet won't be running anywhere anytime soon, having effectively been hamstrung.
The kunoichi is exceptionally skilled, but Kisame laughs through the blow she inflicts on him. It would be serious, or even fatal for another ninja, but the scroll for Samehada slides down his sleeve in a smooth movement.
"Your opponent is Hoshigaki Kisame of the Seven Shinobi Swordsmen. It will take more than this to defeat me!"
Samehada is already giving him the temporary fusion he needs to heal, and he swipes at the kunoichi to drive her back. She's forming hand seals as she does, and avoids being hit, but Samehada was close enough and she stumbles before leaping back again. Her face draws up in actual worry for a second as she discovers the drain on her chakra.
"Ah, now I have to kill you. But I'll make sure Shishito-san talks with you first, eh?"
He needs to end this fast, so Kisame wastes no time charging in, Samehada leading the way.
