Test Drive Post!
Sunshineverse | ||||
Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right? Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header: Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation Then you comment around and play with everyone else! If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country. One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on. And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application.

Hopefully not. He was just contemplating whether he should draw a weapon and try to reflect light into its eye when the woman soared through the sky and --
Okay, he thought to himself, staring blankly. Apparently there was no threat, and also the kraken had friends. A friend?
Belatedly, Sasuke considered whether he'd been working too much lately, if all his instincts were this high-strung for danger. It took a second for him to realise he was staring -- at a woman in a bikini -- and he startled into a flush, lowering the arm he'd been waving and trying, and failing, to figure out something to do with it that wasn't awkward.
"It's alright," he managed after a moment, trying to figure out how best to express I've met that thing before but it was trying to eat me. "I've, uh -- I've run into that ... octopus before."

"Squid hybrid, actually," Nanako corrected, still smiling. "And I suppose it's too much to hope that it was in a good context." She sighed and shook her head, one hand cradling her cheek. "I'm afraid the previous contract holder for that fellow over there was a terribly ill-tempered child. He's been dealt with, since, so I hope you won't bear any grudges towards my new partner."
She leaned forward, widening her eyes artfully. "Still, it was very brave of you to try and help me before. Thank you very, very much for the thought."

The look on her face was enough to make him want to lean back ever so slightly, but the awareness of another ninja -- obviously enough not a Konoha-nin -- meant Sasuke felt obliged to stand his ground where otherwise he might have made an excuse and fled.
"Yeah -- don't mention it," he said, while a voice in his head that sounded alarmingly like his mother scolded him for rudeness. "You, uh -- you say the previous contract holder was dealt with? Who was it?"

Some said waterboarding was a cultural stereotype that Kiri interrogators should move past. Nanako liked to think of it as a classic, and saved it for special occasions.
"I wasn't aware there were any other shinobi on the island," she mentioned, switching tracks. "I would have warned you about a large-scale summons ahead of time, if I had." More to the point, she was surprised her guards hadn't combed him out and had a 'talk' with him. they got protective, when she was out and about and partially naked. Such good children, honestly.

The degree of misfortune made him want to stiffen and narrow his eyes, but it also made him very much not want to give any kind of reaction away beyond that of a slightly out-of-the-ordinary tourist. There was something to be said for replaying Obito's words, here, about impressions: Sasuke deliberately kept his stance casual, for all that he knew he'd already given away his profession.
"I'm here on vacation," he said instead, and resisted the urge to ask exactly what had been done to the kraken's previous contractee. "It was recommended to me. And you ... ?"

Or maybe they would raise higher. Either would be amusing to watch.
"You can call me 'Nanako', if you like." She doubted he would tell her his surname, for all that his bone structure screamed 'Uchiha' to high heavens, so she might as well give him an out. "There's only one real hotel on this island, so we'll likely be seeing more of each other over the next few days."

"Sasuke," he offered in return, for what little worth not giving his family name would be. There was no avoiding how Uchiha his face was (and more by the year, it seemed), but no point giving everything away for free, either. Village affiliation at least, though: "I was pushed out of Konoha for a similar reason.
"Are you familiar with this island?"
