Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right?

Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header:
Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation

Then you comment around and play with everyone else!

If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country.

One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on.

And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application.

He peered at the child for a long moment, then let out a soft sigh. "And what would be my reason for hurting you? You're a cute kid."

He hitched up a shoulder. "I have a cousin your age and my sensei's kid I watch all the time and I don't up and atack them. Yeesh."

Huh? Cousin? Cute? Gaara blinked rapidly, suspicion growing after the momentary lull.

"No one wants to be near me." Wasn't that obvious? Shinobi from other villages really were stupid. He watched him for a second longer, then dropped his gaze to scowl at the floor between them.

"You're a liar," he repeated, more confident now, "Leave, or I'll kill you."

"Yeah, I kinda noticed that bit, though I have no idea why. So you've got an impressive stare on you, big deal." He shrugged, brushing it away. "I'm not leaving either, so I guess you'll just have to put up with me. Wanna play catch?"

He nodded to the ball in the kd's hands.

This wasn't going as expected, but that was okay, because now it all made sense. He just hadn't recognised Gaara. He wasn't there to kill him, he was just offering to play with some normal child he'd run into.

Or he was a good actor, like Yashamaru had been.

"Why won't you leave?" With his nose scrunched in confusion, Gaara dropped the ball to the sand coiled at his feet. The stuff promptly, almost eagerly, sent it onwards, shooting towards the adult's head. Willing him to drop the act, he folded his arms under his scarf. "Do you want to die?"

He caught the ball, flashing him a brilliant smile. "Kid, I've had scarier than you beat me to the ground. You just look like a lonely kid to me, and that's that."

He flicked it back, more gently than it had been pelted at him.

It didn't matter that he hadn't expected him to throw it back, because the sand had that part handled. This time, Gaara retrieved the ball himself to throw back, the move a little clumsy.

"You're from the Hidden Leaf."

If anything his smile got bigger at the boy starting to play, even if he was awkward. It would do the little guy good from what he could see.

"Yep. Seriously determined to get a treaty going. Less suffering when people are united, you know?"

He didn't know. In fact, that made no sense. He let the ball hang in the air while he thought about it, and eventually offered,

"That's wrong. If people are united, there'll be more suffering."

He shook hs head immediately. He guessed, with how Suna was, it made sense but... "Maybe it's just because I'm an Uchiha, or what Kushina-nee always taught me but... but when you love people, it makes you stronger, and if you're not united, that love can just hurt, it's true. But if you are, then it's a strength, see?"

Uchiha. A strong guy had come to talk to his father from Leaf, so that meant there was going to be a treaty. Normally, he'd believe what someone like that said, but this time, it just hurt to think about. No one believed in that kind of strength. Some people were incapable of being loved, so you couldn't really make people come together. Someone would always be alone.

He opened his mouth, and felt a twinge behind his eyes as the spirit noticed. No. He wanted to play.

"Stop talking."

He examined the boy very carefully for a moment at the request, and his voice softened, gentling. "It's never any fun being alone. But when it's like that, you have to find your own people. The ones worth it come around, eventually."

He spread his hands. "Ball?"

He shook his head, squashing down the surge of hope at that promise. It wasn't meant for him, and Uchiha-san would take it back once he realised who he'd been playing with.

Still, he aimed the ball more carefully at the waiting hands this time. Even if he was a liar about everything else, he wasn't leaving.

"I mean it." He turned the ball in his hands, then tossed it back, gentle and persistent. "I have a whole clan but I was left mostly alone after my parents died. I had to sort myself out and isolated myself for a while, which made it hard to get back into anyone's good graces but... but it worked out eventually."

He shook his head, tilting his head to show the scars on his face. "Maybe had to get squished by a big rock, but hey, the shock value worked in my favor."

"You got squished?" His face immediately scrunched up in doubt again. "People like you because you got hurt?"

But he couldn't do that...

"Eh?! No! No I didn't mean it like that, I'm so sorry kiddo. No, I got hurt saving someone, and he finally noticed me properly. It was the saving, not the getting hurt that made him pay attention, the getting hurt just means I can't seem to get him to cool his sh-er. Settle down into not worrying."

No cussing in front of the wee child.

Too late on the no cussing front. Still, the explanation was confusing enough, and Gaara's expression remained frozen in a pout.

"Saving? I don't get it."

"Like, he had someone coming up on him and I protected him before he knew they were there. He noticed me for that. Then later the same day I shoved him out of the way of the rock fall and he never forgot." He hitched a shoulder in a shrug.

Then he held out a hand and wiggled his fingers.
