Test Drive Post!

Sunshineverse
Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right?

Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header:
Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation

Then you comment around and play with everyone else!

If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country.

One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on.

And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application.

Juugo | Naruto | Amegakure

[personal profile] notbalanced 2015-01-21 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
[Option A: Ame]

The rain was always clean, and always reminded him of Nagato. It was good. Juugo didn't mind the wet, even if some of his older friends certainly did. They stayed in the aviary, mostly, and Juugo visited them and his new friends there often. It wasn't unusual to find him there, but Juugo was getting more comfortable with time, and with no incidents of it breaking free and hurting people--a little architecture, once or twice, but nothing that he couldn't help fix after--so he had gotten more relaxed about going out and about. He went on errands, and often helped out with D-missions.

Today was no different than the usual days, and Juugo was walking about the city, smiling at people as he passed. There were places he had to visit, but more than enough time to do it.

[Option B: outside of Rain]

Juugo didn't like this much, but he had to go. Nagato had asked, and had told him he was chuunin now, and it was important. But that didn't keep Juugo from shrinking in on himself, and moving like a nervous bird. There were people he didn't know, and places he might have been long ago, but would have only left destruction and fear in his wake.

On the other hand, Nagato had trusted them with this, so he would do it. Nagato would ask if he didn't think Juugo could do it. Juugo took a deep breath and tried to not cringe, so much anyway, and stepped forward. He had to meet other people.

"...hello."

((ooc: Ame for anything that's set about two years pre game start and through the first year, and Juugo would have been essentially a shut-in for most of the first year in Ame. Out of Ame would be a really new thing.))

Ronin | epic | independant clan; probably Fire Country (or Woods or Forests)

[personal profile] sweetestsmile 2015-01-21 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
It had been a while since Ronin had left their forest, but this was urgent. And maybe they'd been apart from the larger world for too long. Ronin didn't even know if he would be welcome here anymore. So much had changed since his last visit, which had been recon during the last war the stomp--well, it wasn't polite to think of them like that, especially since he needed their aid-- the village ninja has waged on each other. It had been the wars, really, that had dissuaded them from joining the villages. Better to remain small and peaceful, tending to and protecting their forest than to engage in such bloodshed.

So Ronin perched his bird, and took a few hops to the ground. He didn't want to be big again, even though he was old enough to still remember a time when big had been the normal size, but needs must, even if it made him feel so clumsy and slow. It was so much harder to get and keep people's attention when he was small, which, truthfully was usually one of the best benefits. The hand seals were hesitant at first, then picked up and then--

It was disorienting, making him feel like he was being spun in a tornado, and Ronin remained kneeling for a moment, shaking his head.

To an onlooker, it would appear like a flickering image of a man, suddenly growing (and not all at a pace with himself) and distorting and finally settling into something solid. The very solid, and very real, chakra and all, man, was dressed in green--leaves, it looked like--and carried a very sharp sword. And an instant later, a hummingbird fluttered down and set himself on the man's shoulder.

Ronin smiled sadly at his friend's forlorn chirp. "This won't take long; then I'll be back to normal."

But he had a mission, so Ronin marched up to the first ninja he could identify. "I'm Ronin of the Youjin Clan. I've come on a peaceful mission and it's vital that I speak to your leader as soon as possible."

Esu | Original | Sunagakure

[personal profile] leanmeanreptile 2015-01-21 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
As of right now, Esu hated two things.

The cold, and the rain.

And both were actively conspiring against her, locking the courier nin to a teahouse just halfways between Konohagakure and the border to the Land of Wind. Rain liked to seep through fabric and get everything wet. Including important scrolls she had to protect. The cold hindered her stamina, and she had half a mind to allow her bearded vultures to finish the trip for her, had those not been stormclouds slowly forming together as the hours ran by.

She glares at them, expression and body language showing her irritation, drawing in more looks from other travelers. Her appearance alone was intimidating enough without that deep scowl, or that long, thick tail flicking in annoyance.

The birds remain near her, currently preening and waiting patiently for the bones of her meal.

She'd noticed the odd looking traveler pretty quickly, she didn't know anyone from Konoha with grey skin that was for sure. The tail appeared real and Mika found herself staring almost longingly at the stranger. Not any clan she recognized.

It was rude to stare but the woman was just curious. When she noticed the eyes, very strange pretty eyes, Mika figured she could take a chance and engage in conversation. Cautiously she walked over, cup of coffee in hand. Flashing one of her best smiles Mika offered a compliment to break the ice.

"Lovely birds, from Wind right?" They looked like creatures from an arid land.

All in all, Kankuro understood that his life could be a hell of a lot worse than it was. As son of the Kazekage, potentially next in line for the stupid hat, and a high-ranking puppet master with his fare share of his father's good looks he'd be conceited to think he wasn't at least well off in some way or another.. That didn't, however, stop him cursing whatever string of events had caused his birth when faced with irritating situations like these.

Why they couldn't send a Suna jounin more used to travel was utterly beyond him, but he had a small inkling that this was someone's idea of a funny joke. He and Karasu would see how much they'd be laughing as soon as he returned home and had sniffed out the culprit... He sneered up at the darkening sky, his sharp eyes squinting in the cloud cover, and his glare only worsened. It looked like the weather was taking a turn for the worse if the small drop in temperature was anything to go by, and Kankuro flicked a finger to bring his wooden companion to float closer to him as he picked up speed.

The gate was only a mile or so away by now and he trucked the journey briskly, smacking his papers down on the surface of the front desk once he'd met with village ground.

"Hurry it up," he grunted as a form of greeting. "I wanna get this visit over with as quick as possible."

The farther and farther she got from Suna, the more looks she received, and more often.

One thing you learned quick in Suna-- keep to yourself unless necessary to talk to others. And it was something honed to an instinct, unless she was personally contradicting it to collect intel of her own volition.

Mika went largely unnoticed, and she continued on her meat, her pointed fangs perfect for ripping meat from the bone clean, molars far in the back for chewing. Mika's footsteps caused an ear to twitch, and it was when she heard the other stop that her eyes visibly narrowed.

Ah, a friendly. Curious...which meant she could draw more information from her than she would give out. She noted the clothing, and Mika's setup, all in one small sweep. Konoha-nin, of course. That's where she was headed, after all.

"Not very common, though. Takes some knowledge to know where they come from." Giving a compliment, short and polite, was one easy way to draw the trust of a person.

Very....carnivorous. Mika made a note to stay on this one's good side. Careful to keep a polite distance while sitting Mika set her drink down and faced Esu. She hoped to get some information on whatever clan this person was from.

"Yeah? I recall seeing them-- in a book. I have a friend that's really into birds so I did a bit of reading." She studied the feathered companions a little more closely and pursed her lips as if in deep thought. "Er, what are these guys called again?" Real smooth.

Not deterred by her own lapse in knowledge she shrugged and turned her gaze back on the other shinobi. "So Suna then?" Given the companions and the outfit that was easy to determine. It was idle chatter before Mika tried to ask anything personal, grilling people you've just met about their bloodlines was apparently in poor taste.

Tamaki Suou | Ouran High School Host Club | Akazaya (Land of Lightning) (Civilian)

[personal profile] ouranhostking 2015-01-23 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
What a warm day for his travelling party to arrive to their destination! Tamaki's eyes sparkled with excitement and anticipation as he immediately hopped out of is palanquin, much to the distress of the house servants escorting him at the time. It was one of the rare trips he could take when he wasn't being educated in his father's household, so when he arrived he couldn't help trying to take everything in.

The sights, the sounds, the colours, the smells, the people -- it didn't take long for him to wander the merchant stands, already several steps ahead of his entourage (save for any shinobi escorts that may have taken on the mission to escort the Daimyo's son) as he just revelled in his surroundings, "This is wonderful~! I've never seen so many spices all in one space! And the cloth for sale, the designs... Is this how common people truly live? It all seems incredible!"

Konoha's Shopping District was a particularly impressive place to shop, and Ami's family had a shop on one of the more well-traveled corners. They did a brisk business, and had trading contracts through a third party that linked them to textile traders all over the world. Though they were a modest shop without plans for expansion, they always had plenty of clientele pouring in, thanks to the lure of missions and political power plays.

As such, Ami wasn't unused to coming home to find some young lord or another nosing around the store. Politeness and respect for her elders and superiors came much, much easier than amiable feelings towards her peers, so she merely bowed low as she laced into a carefully tailored, tiny apron and climbed up on a stool to man the main display at the counter while her aunt went to negotiate with said young lord's entourage over some bolt of silk or another.

After a brief moment of hesitation, she decided not to risk ignoring the foreigner. He could be speaking rhetorically, but better to be safe than sorry. "Not really, Ouji-sama. The Shopping District is a one-of-a-kind sort of place."

... Oh.

Oh goodness.

Tamaki couldn't help staring a little, feeling a little overwhelmed with the perfect presentation he was witnessing before him. In an instant he was grinning and knelt to look Ami in the eye, practically glowing in the onslaught of cute before him as he asked with a voice lined with silk, "And tell me, milady, what would you recommend from your one-of-a-kind store here? I'm so pleased to speak with someone who clearly knows her way around the fabrics here!"
thelittleprincess: (diligent and careful)

Don't punch him in the face. Don't punch the nobleman in the face. Do nnot shame your family and village by punching him in the face.

Ami blinked slowly, forcing down the knee-jerk—or rather, fist-jerk—reaction that popped up, tilting her head as though in thought as she calmed herself down. He probably didn't mean to sound so condescending; between her size and the way she dressed, Ami knew that she must have seemed much younger in her eyes than she actually was. "Auntie knows more," she admitted. "And so does my cousin; he'll be taking over the shop, and I'm going to be a shinobi." She slid off the stool. "But I know enough. We have some custom fabric patterns you might like."

Glancing at him quickly, she moved towards a nearby shelf, and nimbly scaled the side of it using chakra at her fingertips and toes; she had mastered it yesterday, and her teacher told her it was very advanced, even if she couldn't stick a whole foot or hand yet. It didn't last long either, so she quickly grabbed a neatly folded red and gold silk before dropping back to the floor and offering it up to him. "This is called damask."

It had a floral-like overlay and a shine to it. She thought it suited him, somehow.

"Please do not sell yourself short, my lady. Your taste is impeccable -- this must be the finest silk I have ever felt," He was almost in wonder as he felt the fabric in his hands, and although the compliments were continuous they were also all genuine. He felt even more entranced with her movements, visibly impressed by the skill used to perform such a feat. A shinobi... He had heard about some of their otherworldly abilities, but to think he'd get to witness it first hand! Even if it seemed like such a simple thing for her, to walk up the walls was beyond him -- he knew that. It was a privilege to watch.

"Forgive me for not introducing myself sooner. I am Suou Tamaki, of house Suou in Akazaya. May I have the honor of knowing your name in return, little princess?"

His complement earned a slight tinge of pink across her cheeks, the red of her ears mostly hidden by her long hair. She had shown off a little, wanting to be seen as more than just a little child tagging along to help at the family store, but found herself unsure just how to respond to that sort of praise. His introduction, however, rerouted her attention almost instantly.

"...my mother came from around there." For the first time, something shifted in her large, doll-like eyes; a brief flash of nostalgic warmth. "She came here when she was young, though." She tucked a lock of hair behind her ear, nervously, then looked down again and quickly bowed. "My name is Oyama Ami." Oyama was her Aunt's maiden name, so it had nothing to do with the shop itself, which was her uncle's inheritance. "And... I am not a 'little princess'," she mumbled, fingers curling behind her long sleeves and shoulders inching up.

That's what some of her classmates called her, in reference to the girl as big as a thumb.
ouranhostking: (Welcome to the Host Club!)

"Why not? Your beauty is great, worthy of nobility, Oyama-Hime," Again he smiled, this time effortlessly fishing a rose out of his robe to hand to Ami, this time filled with warmth instead of wonder. The mention of her mother got to him a little as well, and he paused a bit to get a better look at her.

"Such a title is one of the few worthy of someone beautiful and talented like you."

The rather dramatic, flowery words and the actual flower presented to her earned him a flat, incredulous stare. "I'm not beautiful." She would not, however, dispute the fact that she was talented. "I'm eleven." And she looked closer to eight or nine, she knew. Was he making fun of her?

...no. He seemed sincere enough.

"Mama looked like a princess though," she conceded after a brief, incredulous silence, trying not to hurt his feelings. "So maybe I will someday too."

He was about to disagree again, to say that he felt that she was beautiful regardless, but upon hearing about her mother again he instead opted for a softer approach. He still held the flower for her to take, nodding at her words and speaking after a moment, "I'm sure you will. The way you speak of her tells me so -- you'll do her proud, Oyama-hime, if you haven't already."
thelittleprincess: (Wha—?!)

"I hope so. Auntie says she and Dadd—that she and my father would be." She nearly bit her tongue at the childish slip, and coughed almost silently, trying to get her head straight. She had no business dragging down the mood of a customer. "Um, if you're from Lightning, though, you might like the thicker fabrics we have too." Right, sales. She was supposed to be doing that. "A-And... '-Hime' is still a little..."

Scruffing and shaking the worthless brat would cause an international incident. He had to remember that causing an international incident was bad for the mission's success. Scruffing and shaking the brat--

Seemed like a very good idea. Kisame had a headache from the bright sun off snow, and the brat was being... this.

"Tamaki-sama, my mission is your protection, and I will take steps to ensure it if you continue endangering yourself."

Somehow, even after knowing the brat for so little time, Kisame didn't think the brat would listen. ...Maybe a leash. He eyed the soft neck as he kept pace. A leash would probably cause an international incident. Shame.

Nori | The Hobbit | (formerly) Kumogakure

[personal profile] knifependulum 2015-01-24 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
It's a nice place. Almost too nice, and his fingers itch. So far from obediently sitting in place while he waits to speak to whoever he's in here to meet, Nori pads around the room with curious interest, picking up random objects and turning them over in his hands for a good, long look. Purely for curiosity's sake of course.

A few of the smaller (nicer) decorations find their way into his jacket, along with a very nice pen he thinks Ori will like. There's a very decorative scroll hanging on the wall, but it's too big to take with him. Nori fingers the edges of the material, thumbs brushing over the smooth, heavy canvas. It would be a hard sell if it was damaged in any way.

And in any case, he might be a trader of sorts, but he doesn't need to cause too much trouble. A big piece like this would be noticed instantly. No, better to leave it for now and keep his smaller acquisitions. Nori moves onto the nearest shelf to start shamelessly leafing through the books.

Maybe he'll come back for the scroll later.

Hana had smelled him before she'd seen him, and was already facing Ronin's direction when he marched into view.

"My leader as in the Hokage?" Hana asked, mentally questioning his clothing choices. Leaves were excellent camouflage in a forest, true, but giant leaves, huge patches of green, did not make sense for camouflage purposes. Most likely a purely aesthetic choice. Her gaze flicked to the hummingbird. She'd never seen one still before. Their wings were always moving. She leaned in a tiny bit closer, gaze still fixed primarily on the tiny bird. Fortunately, that also let her keep watch on his torso for any sign of movement or attack. It was nice when curiosity lined up with caution and responsibility. And she had three other pairs of eyes on him anyway. "You'd have to come back to Konohagakure for that, and pass through security at the gate."

Hidden villages were not really hidden the way they were said to be. Hana didn't think it was any harm if she showed him its location. "It's this way," she said, nodding in the correct direction. "I was on my way home."

He'd come in the window, silently of course, as the other man was leaving the wall scroll. He wasn't... the person who lived here, but that person was long gone and he fully intended to collect a few things from the house of the deceased before moving on.

He hadn't expected to be beat here though, and wondered if the man was simply being an opportunist, or if he'd gotten the news. Leaving the scroll told him opportunist.

Why was he not surprised. Then again, he'd first met the man in similar circumstances, albeit in a neighbor's house as a child, so running into him like this shouldn't shock him. "Ji-chan, you're looking well!"

Without so much as putting down the book, Nori had a knife between his fingers. That window was his easy escape route, and he didn't appreciate anyone barging in to block it. For a heart-stopping moment, the youthful face and crown of dirty blonde hair almost made him drop both. But those eyes were blue.

Not to say he didn't recognize the intruder, and he raised a braided eyebrow then smiled. He shut the book and tossed it aside, knife slipping back up his sleeve.

"Pete, innit? You grown up since I last saw you!"

"I don't know about up so much, but I've grown." He nodded, then moved over to the books, immediately scanning the shelves for the tomes he was after. He didn't seem at all worried about being attacked at least.

He flashed him a wry smile. "You look just the same. You can't have been that old when we met though."

Nori waved a hand and let Peter have the shelf while he bent down to examine the desk drawers he hadn't gotten around to breaking into yet. More invasive than reading books, but that's what they got for leaving him alone so long.

"Much taller an' you'll be perfect knee-cappin' height." The locks clicked open under his hands, and the level of carelessness told Nori that not much of real value was in them. But all the same, he leafed through a couple of important-looking documents. "An' I fink someone's gonna drop by to pay me a visit soon- best be outta here 'for then."
lostmarauder: (Disgruntled)

[personal profile] lostmarauder 2015-01-27 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
"This was my venture, thank you very much. If they show up before I got what I came for, then they're simply early." There was a bit of primness in how he said it, and he pulled a scroll, starting to drop book after book into it without any visible concern.
