Test Drive Post!
Sunshineverse | ||||
Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right? Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header: Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation Then you comment around and play with everyone else! If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country. One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on. And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application.

"You'll pass this time."
It would have been better, in retrospect, to emote. Rather than an encouragement, it ended up sounding like a threat.

What if he didn't pass? Was Gaara threatening repercussions, was he implying his father would perform them? Was he insinuating the entire village would look down on him if he spent another five months a chuunin? Gaara had never once lorded his higher rank over Kankuro, but that didn't mean the older brother hadn't felt it.
"I know." He swallowed the bile in the back of his throat, and ignored the awful taste the words left on his tongue. Civility was a hard pill to swallow.

Clearly, they needed big sister to jump in.
"So, what are you two up to?"
no subject
"Kankuro. Who else is on that mission?"
The idea of him being placed with someone else was suddenly, inexplicably irritating. Maybe he had enough time to find whoever it was and arrange an accident.

Unfortunately, Gaara answered for him.
When the question was posed to him, he automatically unfolded the missive crumpled in his hand and was half way to answering, before he paused, and squinted.
"...Why do you ask?"
no subject
"That isn't any of our business. Kazekage-sama deemed his teammates as suitable that should be enough." And how it burned for her to utter those words. Asking Gaara to put his faith in their father after the way he'd treated them. "Besides Kankuro would have voiced concerns if he wasn't comfortable, right?"
no subject
"That man has no idea of what's best for us." For me, he almost said, but that was the younger, petulant Gaara talking. "Whatever. Don't let them slow you down."

"I chose my team mates," Kankuro announced, a hard look at Gaara and at their sister before he fixed his gaze off to one side, his hands finding refuge in his pockets. It was an attempt at a casual pose to offset the forcibly controlled tonation of his voice. "I was being tested. I was asked to hone in my leadership skills and form a unit of my own. So the idea was mine."

Just because their father was a point of contention in some conversations. And Gaara was the one most likely to react violently, Temari for all her issues tried to maintain a level of neutrality most of the time if she could. She was working a little more closely with him than either after all.
"So who did you pick, and what is your mission?" She asks motioning for Gaara to come closer so they could give input on this team up. Not that it would make a difference really, but where was the fun in being siblings if you couldn't give unwanted opinions from time to time.

His scowl darkened, and he folded the paper into his hand.
"Classified." He grunted.
no subject
"Don't be a baby. Gaara knows the genin you do, he'd be perfect to consult with. And you'd have been happy to help right, Gaara?"
no subject
Nevertheless.
"You should rely on us," he agreed, serious despite addressing a guy in the middle of a headlock.
no subject
"Temari!" he scolded, making a spitting noise not dissimilar to an angry cat as he flailed, his touch barely brushing the fabric before a thread of chakra shot out of his fingers, wrapped around the material and pulled it out of her grip. Once he had it in his fist he stopped struggling as much, and held out the missive paper for Gaara to take.
"A sensor and a shinobi with strong taijutsu skills..." he grumbled, admitting to his defeat.

Teal eyes watching her youngest brother as the sheet of paper is held out to him. She's already weighing what his choices mean for the mission he's been given.
"So?" She prompts leaning forward toward her youngest brother.
no subject
What were the names of those other... Ah.
"Nejiri and Ittetsu are out on assignment?"
no subject
"Probably."
no subject
Which probably says a great deal about the genin he chose. Nejiri and Ittetsu she at least had heard of. She would have chosen them herself if in Kankuro's position. Still the mission itself doesn't seem outside the norm for a C-rank. Though it seemed a bit much to have Kankuro be limited by a pair of inexperienced genin.
"Are they new?" She looks between the two for an answer it's been a while since she was a genin after all. She isn't quite as up on the who's who of baby genin anymore. Not unless they've done something worth noting since graduating.
no subject
"They'll do."
no subject
"Good to know.." he grunted.
Gaara's approval, though it annoyed him with it's needlessness, relieved him. It was good to know his brother wasn't going to make a fuss about it that would eventually get back to his father. Kankuro just needed to work through these last few months with as little issue as possible, and finally pass as chuunin.

"You'll be fine. Just remember to take some time to prepare for the exams, okay?"
