Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right? Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header: Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation Then you comment around and play with everyone else! If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country. One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on. And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application.

God damn it why was she getting so sheepish!? Okay, she knew why, but she still shouldn't have! Just... She'd just wait to see if he was actually offended or not before taking off, even if she really wanted to then - why wasn't she just leaving already.

"Here's a good place to practice. The water's calm and there's not much danger of drowning." Itachi looked back to her and slowly stood. "Even if you're not veyr experienced with water...can you swim?" Itachi had intended to clear out and let her have the space, but if she couldn't swim, he might stick around.

"I mean... I was going to practice with jutsu, no swimming involved anyway. I can still swim though."

"Most of the time underestimating someone simply because of their age would get me stabbed or worse, so please consider an apology me getting off lightly for assuming." Itachi spoke softly but lightly, as if none of this were a big deal. "And if I really hadn't wanted anyone watching, then I should have found a more private place to pull out stitches..." That was probably setting a bad example for future generations, wasn't it? Just yank out your stitches when they annoy you. Perfectly acceptable act.
Itachi tipped his head towards the river. "It's a good place to train, and I wouldn't want to keep someone from sharpening their skills." So he would conceded the space to the younger generation, as he seriously doubted she wanted him to sit around watching her.

Still, maybe this was an opportunity that she shouldn't pass up. After a beat, she managed to calm herself enough to speak evenly and asked a question, "Uh, so... I guess you probably get asked this a lot, but you know a lot of fire jutsu too, right? Maybe you could show me, or give me some pointers so I can improve my own?"

"I'm not a very good teacher, but I can try." Wasn't it his duty to help younger ninja improve? Or learned how to most effectively scorch off their eyebrows?

"Those're all the fire jutsu I know... I'm pretty good with them, but I could be better. I just know it."

"You'l have to forgive my manners--I'm Uchiha Itachi." Itachi gave her a shallow bow.

Uchiha Itachi, huh? She wondered how much older he was, or what rank. Well, whatever it was, he was able to help a little at least - even if it was just with cream. Which she was already working on rubbing on her cheeks and lips. A thin layer should do it...

"The most important thing is to have enough control that the fire doesn't get away from you, and enough forward energy it doesn't come back into your face. Even a small spark could set your hair on fire." Nothing quite as distracting as you hair suddenly smoldering. "Overall you had good technique. The more chakra control you have and the more chakra put into the technique, the larger and hotter the flames will be. Working on the smoother transitions between your hand signs should help your efficiency." Itachi paused. Fire techniques came easily to him. His chakra had been attuned to the element from birth, sometimes making it difficult to express in words what he did differently.
"When you breath out, are you pushing from your diaphragm or from your chest?" Itachi asked. He hadn't been paying attention to that bit.
OOC: please don't mind me as I BS my way through this...

Was it that important? Oh man, she'd feel dumb if that was wrong, because that just sounded way too basic to screw up but if she didn't know then - Agh! This was why she wanted someone to teach her how to use her chakras properly earlier...
[[OoC: Totally fine! Adela has natural affinities for Fire, Earth, and Water chakra but no one to really teach her in Fire (at least), so it'd be natural if she got some stuff wrong. :P]]

"Now...the most important thing in a fire jutsu isn't the heat or the distance, but being able to balance control with power. Fire is, in its nature, destructive and greedy, so as long as your provide it with fuel it will damage and kill. In a place like Konoha, and when in a fight with allies, fire can be more detrimental than anything else. You should always focus more on control in a fire jutsu and know your limits. Duration is also important. Hair will catch fire quickly, and skin burns easily, but most clothing takes a few second longer to catch, or a hotter flame." Itachi realized he was rambling. As fire jutsu were one of his clan's trademarks, he'd grown up hearing discussions on them and could get carried away.
"It's mostly practice and observation, which are unfortunately things you have to do for yourself." Which made Itachi a rather ineffective teacher. Go forth and burn things and call it training. "Sorry, I'm not very much help."

Hmm...
"Show me."

It might not have been the best idea, but it was worth a shot.
