Test Drive Post!

Sunshineverse
Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right?

Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header:
Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation

Then you comment around and play with everyone else!

If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country.

One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on.

And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application.

The information game between shinobi villages was a moderately small circle, at least in regards to veterans. By its very nature, the positions had a high turnover weight. Information was worth more than gold, more than blood; it could be the tipping scale in a war, the deciding factor in usurping business, the key turning point between success and failure on a high-stakes mission. The three most powerful factors going into any fight were the information one had about their opponent, how prepared they were, and luck.

The latter was apparently very much on Nanako's side today.

Yagura rarely let her out into the field these days, save for very important missions or her mandatory vacation days. The odds of crossing paths with this man, however, were astronomical. He was as much of a shut-in as she was, these days, if the reports they had scraped together were any indication. Still, she while she wasn't interesting in a fight—she had guards to spar with—that didn't mean she wouldn't pounce on the opportunity.

She stopped walking, smoothing down the casual, civilian-style dress she liked to wear on her days off. "My, my." She beamed at him. "It's certainly been quite some time since I've seen that face in the daylight."

He canted his head to the side, taking one hand out of his pockets to give her a single brief wave before returning to his previous stance, shoulders loose and body slouched as he finally came to a halt in his ambling. He hadn't seen her in nearly two years, and the last time hadn't exactly been up close and personal. She was looking healthy.

If a bit paler than she was before.

"True. You've been busy."

"I could say the same of you, really." She tucked a long dark strand of hair, beaming sweetly. "I must say, of all the people I expected to run into while on holiday, you're closer to the bottom than the top. She shrugged elegantly, and drifted under the tree instead of continuing down the path. She tapped her lip, as if in thought. "I don't suppose it was the confectionary shop that drew you to this neck of the woods?"

It was fairly famous, so it might actually be a factor, knowing him.
wideeyedstare: (Not promising.)

He turned lightly on his feet, following her movements with his eyes even as he resettled so he was facing her straight on. He clearly had no intention of getting within her range without absolute need. He may be at ease, but he was hand to hand, and she very much was not. It was an understandable precaution, all things considered.

"It is a wonderful shop."

Though the answer was, of course, not a yes or no.

It was always a safe bet to assume that Nanako had a few weapons sealed away on her for easy access, even in a long, form-flattering gown like the one she was wearing. She never went anywhere without her Darling, as a matter of course. It was always nice when somebody knew her well enough to appreciate that fact.

"I've swung by a few times the past few days," she admitted, bringing a hand up to her cheek as if in shame while simultaneously raising the wicker basket perched on her shoulder. "I fear I might end up going home a bit heavier than I was when I left." She had intended to simply laze around and read a new mystery novel while eating sweets in the sun, but perhaps this was a better use for them.
wideeyedstare: (Forked.)

He glanced to the basket, his head following the motion, and his eyes flicked up to her face, questioning. She wouldn't have explicitly mentioned it without a reason, and he was... curious if that meant she was sharing.

Still, there was the regrettable worry that she might try to poison him, and he had to weigh the risks against the potential benefits. The biggest of which being if she was bored enough of their interactions, rare though they were, to risk it.

"You might, but you wouldn't."

Nanako generally kept her poisons nonfatal, these days; there was a certain compound from a breed of ants that could keep a victim in agony for hours, sometimes days if injected at a high enough concentration. But, as it stood, she was off the clock. And for once, she was honestly surprised to see him, tough she certainly didn't let that show. Best to keep him guessing.

"Kind of you to say so," she told him, before patting the basket. "Either way, would you care to help minimize the danger?"
wideeyedstare: (Why would I care about that?)

He finally decided that she was genuine, and bobbed his head once, ambling cautiously closer. She was too off guard with his presence to have spiked her treats, though he would keep an eye out in case she decided to change that. "I think that is something I can help with."
pursuitoftruth: (have you seen the queen of the castle)

"I thought it might be." She held out the basket, in a tacit offer to let him inspect it for any traps. It would hardly be the first time a person trapped a container of sweets while trying to kill him, after all. Allowing him that peace of mind was only polite, she rationalized. "I grabbed a bit of everything, really. Help yourself."
wideeyedstare: (Curious glance.)

[personal profile] wideeyedstare 2015-03-26 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
He smiled at her, seeing the gesture for what it was, and he gently took it from her hands, touching with only his fingertips as he looking at it this way and that. Satisfied by the results of his inspection, he transferred it to one hand and picked through it for the first thing that had berries in it that caught his attention.

"Did you have an intended location for your indulging?"
pursuitoftruth: (when she comes)

[personal profile] pursuitoftruth 2015-03-26 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"I did." She readjusted the strap of her dress, which had been skewed by the weight of the basket. "There's a nice little meadow a few hundred yards away. Level, with one large oak, and a sparse treeline." Easily defensible, but with enough shade to be comfortable. Also a rather difficult place to sneak up on, which just went to show that a shinobi on vacation was still very much a shinobi.

"Unless you have a better idea?"

wideeyedstare: (What's this? Something interesting?)

[personal profile] wideeyedstare 2015-03-26 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
He peered at her for a moment, then shook his head and turned, immediately stating in the correct direction, though she hadn't overtly pointed it out. A flick of the eyes was enough for him to be able to tell, after all, and he carried the basket with him.

"No, I think your idea works fine."
