Test Drive Post!

Sunshineverse
Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right?

Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header:
Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation

Then you comment around and play with everyone else!

If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country.

One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on.

And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application.

Shirogane Naoto | Persona 4 | Uzushio

[personal profile] thewheelturns 2015-03-24 01:32 pm (UTC)(link)
1) in Uzushio

There are plenty of things to do today. Training, research, and with good fortune, an interesting mission or two. Naoto is not about to waste a moment of time, crossing out her mental to do list one by one and moving briskly between each.

One might catch her training, working on honing her swordwork, and increasing the precision of her Wind Release. Naoto doesn't stop her exercises until the wind-chakra extended blade swiftly cuts through a round target in exactly even sections, and works on increasing the speed, and the number of sections she can get out of it.

Or perhaps, neck deep in scrolls, researching seals and elemental manipulation of chakra, taking notes as she goes. But don't comment on the mystery novel; it might get a glare. Shhh, it's a secret hobby. Really.

2) Outside Uzushio

Courier missions are nothing exciting, but they are a chance to travel and see things. So while Naoto is on the road she keeps her eyes and ears open to whatever might be interesting. Other shinobi, civilians... It doesn't matter. Anything could turn up important later, and tiny details could mean the difference between life and death, literally.

So she moves briskly, but perhaps not on the most efficient route to her destination, and on the way home, takes time to explore. But only a little, because she doesn't to be late getting home.

And anything that might be a little out of place, such as a shinobi not native to the country that she's traveling through, might even get more than a few subtle glances. When she speaks, it's a little boyish, and brusquely, to match her boyish clothing.

"Might I inquire as to the nature of your business? Only as it might impact the outcome of my mission, of course."

She's really not quite as good at hiding her rampant curiosity as she pretends to be.

1!

Visiting Karin had been nice, she thought. It was pretty cool to see how far Uzushio had come in its rebuilding efforts since she had last been there as well, and the smile on the chuunin's face was nothing short of obvious to the world as she visited. Her Konoha hitai-ate was proudly on display as she visited the stalls, unable to help enjoying the warm reception from everyone around because of their closely allied villages. It wasn't forced like with other villages, at least not that Adela felt - no, it was more like they were truly on friendly terms.

That was when she managed to find some time alone in one of the buildings, a gentle sigh leaving her as she looked at all the books around. A library, but she sincerely doubted she'd find anything classified in there. Probably historical scrolls, or maybe the odd fictional book or two. What she wasn't expecting to see was another shinobi in there, however.

And what a pile he(?) was looking through! The red head whistled low as she approached, glancing to the pile around her with clear intrigue. When she was finally close enough, Naoto would be met with a comment from her that was more impressed than anything else, "You're doing a lot of reading here today. Studying up or just for fun?"

Naoto wasn't expecting company. So while she was aware of someone coming into the section of the library she was working with, aside from a single glance--Konoha; probably a visitor--she didn't stop her work.

That is, until the redhead walked up to her whistling and made that comment.

She looks up, quickly assessing Adela's appearance. She notes the many different things and forms some initial theories as to identity--not an Uzumaki, in spite of the hair; possibly vision impaired in one eye-- but doesn't comment on those just yet. She's a little more comfortable here in Uzushio, so while she still uses boyish phrasing, she doesn't try to speak roughly to seem more tough. "I am researching, naturally. I wish to improve my elemental chakra manipulation."

She turns to Adela, using the movement to nudge her current mystery novel further under some scrolls. She'd be embarrassed to be caught doing something that wasn't improving herself!
enchantressofore: Thanks to Tarot for the B/W bases! (I am not certain that I understand.)

"Is that right? It's kind of neat to see how someone in Uzushio goes through their studies and training," In spite of the comments she couldn't help her smile, though she didn't miss the nudge. That looked like a book, but what kind? It wasn't like the scrolls that were on the table... Well, she didn't know what it was, and it probably wasn't her business.

With a little more distance between them Adela seated herself at the table, looking over the scrolls once more before her eyes met with Naoto again, "What element, if you don't mind my asking? Maybe we could train together, depending on expertises."

As much as Naoto would like to continue studying without interruption it wouldn't be polite to brush off a guest, so she sits back and folds her hands in front of her on the table.

"Currently, I'm studying Earth Release. Mastering it is more difficult than others." Naoto knows this is because her affinity might well be the opposite, as Wind, but she is determined to not only master it, but earn mastery of Explosion Release so tied to Earth and Iwa. It's in her blood, distantly, and she theorizes that she should be able to unlock it, given time and effort. She's already begun applying Wind to Earth in small amounts, and it works... well, surprisingly, when Naoto had expected it to be harder.

There is no reason to speak about this, of course, so she smiles, a little woodenly. "Earth is also an affinity slightly less common in Uzushio."
abileunaspada: (Lemme think it over for a minute.)

[personal profile] abileunaspada 2015-04-03 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
"So you're studying to use it... If you were just studying how to fight against it, I'd be happy to help -- Earth release is one of my affinities, and we're allies so it's not like I'd mind," Adela frowned, thoughtfully looking over the scrolls as she listened to the other. Hm...

"If you want some demonstration of earth techniques, I could help you out that way at least. Sometimes a visual reference helps when you're learning new stuff, at least I've found it works that way for me."
thewheelturns: (I will explain it all.)

[personal profile] thewheelturns 2015-04-04 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
"A demonstration never ends up being useless, even if the immediate effect is small. I would be glad to watch, if you're willing."

That brightens Naoto's mood a bit, and she lifts her attention more fully from the scrolls. "Though perhaps, I should explain my goals more completely. My primary affinity is Wind, however, being raised in Iwagakure before returning to my father's home country, meant in order to succeed, I needed to learn Earth. I do not like to give up once I've started something."

The disgust with and dismissal of her talents in Iwa still burns, and Naoto is determined to master Earth just so she can show them how strong she is.
abileunaspada: (Time to kick some ass!)

"I'm happy to help. If we're all strong individually, we can all be stronger together. My name's Adela," She nodded, a slight smile tugging at her lips as she extended her hand in proper greeting. This guy seemed pretty nice, and it seemed like he was a hard worker too - kind of like her. That and, as much as it seemed like he was totally absorbed in the scrolls earlier, he wasn't abject to her company or her offer to at least demonstrate. It was kind of nice, actually.

It sucked that the sort of rejection happened to him too, so if Adela could help him improve that much then it'd be worth it.

"Shirogane Naoto." She stands up and bows slightly, and then begins clearing and sorting the scrolls so they can be put away. The book is visible for a moment, before getting tucked into her waist pouch. It's a mystery novel.

"If you are interested in offering that demonstration right now, I find that breaking up research and practice is more effective. I can show you the training grounds."
