Test Drive Post!
Sunshineverse | ||||
Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right? Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header: Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation Then you comment around and play with everyone else! If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country. One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on. And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application.

He takes a deep breath, curls up and straightens out, using gravity to help start his dive. He's accustomed enough to the feel of sea water in his eyes, and he's always found the light he gives off to be more useful navigating underwater than above. Naoki pauses at the hole that held an octopus earlier to notice it's vacant now, so he continues down.
The gentle swaying motion of plants along the bottom is easy to see in this light, and he can see other shapes. Shrimp and crabs and the usual nocturnal sea life, but none of the larger dark shapes he occasionally sees on the edge of his vision.

He turns to keep as much an eye on the kid as their surroundings, gills working, and yes, the glow is pleasant down here. Just enough light to be comfortable and see clearly. Kisame blinks the nictitating membranes down and stretches out to get ahead a little. He turns to watch the kid's form from the front. Not bad.
There aren't many predators out right now, but Kisame knows at least some of the predators are able to sense enough of chakra to be frightened away. Just as some others are attracted. The night ocean is peaceful enough, though there's always violence beneath the surface.
Along the bottom he spots an ambush predator buried in the sand. It could be a lot of different things, and Kisame decides not to disturb it just to check.

It's empty, so Naoki turns away from it, stopping to watch a crab scuttling dangerously towards a predator hidden in the sand. Nothing out right now needs light to hunt, but he doubts the crab will notice in time to get away.

At the same time, he keeps attention on Naoki, appreciating the extra light that doesn't hurt his eyes.
no subject
When he's right over the fish he grabs it by its side, using a little chakra to hold onto the slippery fish as it kicks up sand and tries to get away.

Now, of course, Naoki needs to decide what to do with it.

The rule back when he'd been at the academy was that you had to fend for yourself, but this isn't survival training or a childish game.

A moment later a flick of his thumb across his thumb spills blood into the water, and he summons. The shark is small, for a tiger shark, and swims around Kisame in happy circles, happy to have been summoned. Kisame's smile goes a little more fond than his usual grins which promise violence, and he pets the shark along the nose and gills, making her wriggle in pleasure.
Then he uses the Hoshigaki signs to tell her that the kid got her a present, and not to take the kid's hands off in the process.
With that, the shark is swimming straight towards Naoki very fast, mouth open and teeth gleaming.

The signs aren't ones Naoki recognizes, and the sight of a shark swimming right at him like that causes a rush of adrenaline. He wastes no time getting as much space between himself and the fish as possible, bracing his feet against the sea floor in case he needs to push away quickly.
He's fed enough animals to know that sometimes they get a little enthusiastic eating an offered treat.

The shark, for her part, does take care not to injure Naoki when she bites on down on the struggling fish. Naoki is then left with half a bloody fish in his hands and she nudges at him, trying to get him to let it go so she can snap up the rest.
no subject
He'll need to surface soon, but he's still got time.

Kisame then signs 'yes' back at Naoki, then 'watch.'
He demonstrates how to do it so that her denticles won't tear or otherwise damage skin, and then gestures for Naoki to come closer so he can try for himself.
no subject
Shark skin is an odd combination of smooth and rough, and while he's touched sharks before, he's never been around a friendly shark before.
no subject
Giving his summon attention is relaxing and almost an automatic motion, so Kisame takes the time to look at the markings in more detail.
no subject
After another minute of making friends with the shark and being observed by Kisame, Naoki pulls his hands back and makes the somewhat obvious and reduntant gesture that he needs air. He doesn't push off from the bottom, but carefully puts space between himself and the shark before swimming back to thesurface.
no subject
He then looks Naoki over in approval. "Not bad, and an impressive catch there."
no subject
He takes a couple more deep breaths before his breathing goes back to normal. "Your shark was nice."
no subject
He thinks this kid has a great deal of potential, if being a little too trusting at the same time. 'Nice.' That was not a word that should describe a predator. Not aggressive, maybe, but nice made it easy to forget, even temporarily that they were so dangerous.
"She's young still, and not fully grown. But forget that she's a predator for a moment and you will lose an arm. Remember that."
no subject
"I'm attached to my arms, so I'll keep that in mind. How big will she get?" Remembering the way she swam at him when he held that fish, he's definitely not going to forget that mouth full of teeth.
no subject
"Wild tiger sharks can get up to five meters. Because she's a summon she'll get anywhere from twice that to five times that, but that will probably be a century or so off, and she'll spend most of that time not much bigger than her wild cousins."
She's a good summon, and Kisame is almost wistful about the fact that he himself won't live long enough to see that growth.
no subject
"Dive again? I have time for one or two more."
no subject
Then he considers Naoki again. He isn't exhibiting any signs of fear at the idea. There aren't many who could be so comfortable around predators in general, much less such large summons. It's interesting, and maybe someday he'll see how that holds up to one of the larger sharks. Not tonight; Old Ajimaru would get cranky if there wasn't a fight and he was summoned.
So he nods at the suggestion. "I enjoy it. Why not?"
