Test Drive Post!

Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right?

Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header:
Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation

Then you comment around and play with everyone else!

If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country.

One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on.

And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application.

He bounded away, quick easy steps without putting real distance between them, instead taunting him with sheer proximity while circling him. Interesting, and workable.

He kept following, making a pair of mizu bunshin as he does. The glow he normally supresses flares up again when he uses the jutsu, but now there are two more of him to maneuver Sephiroth, spreading out to flank him and cut off escape.

He simply vanished at that point, popping up behind and a few paces away as he hummed, examining the way the boy glowed. "Does that serve any function?"

He paused, continuing to glow and turning just enough to look at Sephiroth. "I'm a Kashima. Some of us glow when we use chakra. I'm working on it."

As he spoke, he formed a series of quick seals with his hand to get a trio or spiraling arms of water to shoot up from the water, his clones already moving towards the two most likely avenues of retreat.

Once again, he simply vanished to another point on the field, though this time he was being looked at directly enough it was obviously a Kawarimi. He didn't even seem tensed, just observing. "So no function. Not even an appropriated one?"

"It's useful sometimes. Under water, or fighting in the dark." A flash of light, even as dim as his was, could disrupt someone accustomed to the lack of a good light source. It's become clear he needed to stay on Sephiroth as much as he could to have a chance of catching him. He used a quick kiri-shunshin to close the distance between them.

Even leaking chakra the way he did he had a larger reserve than many of his chuunin peers. He moved with as much speed as he could, one clone moving in and the other vanishing into the water.

Another Kawarimi immediately had him gone again. He was, after all, one of the best people with the basic jutsu among the countries, and had no shame in spamming it when he felt the desire to not stay put. "Nothing else?"

"What else do you expect?" Naoki released the visible water clone and formed a water whip instead to give him more reach as he closed in once more.

"Something more useful." He once again avoided him, examining the technique with sharp eyes. "Something less predictable."

He took a swing with the water whip, trying to catch Sephiroth's leg. "It's just not that useful." And the Kashimas tried to avoid having children likely to get it. Maybe if it was more useful they'd do the opposite and develop it into a bloodline instead of just an oddity.

"Hmph. Foolish. All uniqueness is useful. At least the reason for being sent to me is less obscure now." He lightly pivoted, hopping to another perch and watching his movements carefully.

He had a long way he could go, he could see that easily enough.

"If you can make it useful, I'd be happy to see how," Naoki said, he landed on the next post and turned to bound after Sephiroth. He brought the water whip around in a wide arc for another attack. This time, at the moment he expected Sephiroth to dart away, he made the water whip longer and thinner with the hope the sudden extra reach would be enough.

He noticed the attack and instead of jumping away put more umph into going straight up before flipping tot he side.

"And for communication, what uses have you put it to there?"

"I can make it blink, just not very quickly. But aside from a few jounin and my classmates I haven't worked with the same people enough to use it very often. Hand signs and mirrors are almost as useful." That gambit didn't work, so Naoki abandoned the water whip, closing in empty handed.

"Obviously you haven't learned it well enough." He waved that away as needless and untrue prattling. "You've not given up have you?"

"Of course not." Even with that trick with the whip it was too slow and its attack pattern too obvious for him to catch Sephiroth with it. The next jutsu he used as he advanced was a wind release designed to toss an enemy into the air or bring an airborne one to the ground depending on which way he oriented it.

This time, he jumped as he executed the jutsu, hoping to catch Sephiroth mid air where he couldn't dodge as easily.

He clearly hadn't accounted for Sephiroth's fighting style, and a smirk lit his face as he used the momentum, then threw a stone straight up, replacing himself with it a moment later and flipping casually away to the side. "Good, so tell me how you plan to fix the deficiency."

Naoki looked up as his jump took him under Sephiroth, and swatted the rock away with irritation. "Speed training." He was not fast enough to catch Sephiroth on his own, but the jounin landed close enough to the water clone he'd left hiding in the water so it sprung up in an attempt to catch him.

In other circumstances the disparity wouldn't be as bad, but with no incentive for Sephiroth to move closer or to a specific spot he just had to catch up.

"And how is that going to affect your markings exactly?" He flipped away, landing on a hand and springing to another pole with an amused glance.

It was a touch mocking. "Not good at multitasking?"

Naoki let out a short breath as he and his water clone pursued again. "Everything I do takes more effort and concentration when I'm using chakra or suppressing the markings. I mostly use chakra control exercises."

He prepared to use that wind jutsu as the clone closed in. This time, ready to drop Sephiroth into the water with a downward whirlwind if he jumps away.

"Why not have total control of the markings then? If you only can suppress them at effort, it's not good enough." He narrowed his eyes, letting himself fall, then kicking off the water to the side, weaving between the poles before hopping back up on one.

"I work on it every day. It gets easier all the time but I'm not there yet." He wasn't fast enough to catch Sephiroth before he jumped back onto a post. So far the tornado drop was the only jutsu he'd caught Sephiroth with, and the only other jutsu he could execute with that speed were simple projectiles that would be too long closing the distance.

"Do better. If this is every day then clearly you need to progress further." It was a simple statement, and the expectation was clearly that he could, and would, comply. He was watching him for another attack, but nodded once.

"Defend."

That was all the warning he gave him before coming at him.

Naoki didn't answer out loud but nodded at the clear command. Do better. The sudden change in their fight dynamic almost catches him off guard, instead he shifted easily in to defense. He was already aware of the speed and agility Sephiroth possessed, so he would need a tight efficient defense to avoid being overwhelmed.

The water clone was out of position but came to support him quickly.

What he might not have expected was his sheer strength, and his long Masamune blade sprang to his fingers before he leapt at him, coming down in an immediate flurry of blows while keeping himself out of reach. He wasn't going at full speed at all, not wanting to kill the boy, after all.
