Test Drive Post!
Sunshineverse | ||||
Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right? Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header: Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation Then you comment around and play with everyone else! If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country. One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on. And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application.

(2) papa bird reporting in
It's not often that he comes out of an altercation injured, but protecting civilians against rogue ninja is not unlike herding fifty cats; somewhere along the way you're bound to get caught in the cross fire and he most certainly had.
The hitch in his stride is invisible to anyone that has only met him in passing and the red of his outer robe covers the stain nicely, but he's not dealing with a stranger and it's what Houou's counting on as he hails the other.]
Good evening, Kawauso. How fairs the road?
jfc boss
My, my boss have you come all the way out here to patch together my route?
[It's a good thing Houou likes him and that he already has a medical kit out and unrolling it because anyone else may have beat him in the face for that.]
Pull up a bit of dirt or rock.

"Ah, stitching together your trail was simple enough.."
[The same may not be said for his side; though he hasn't checked since knotting his belt a little tighter and continuing on his way. He did the reverse now, removing his heavier out robe, his scarf and gingerly peeling away the stained and torn silk of his tunic.
Unsurprisingly, there's an inflamed looking gouge running from under his ribs to the top of his hip. It's started to heal already, but won't get the rest of the way on it's own and Houou prods curiously at it with a tentative claw before giving Kawauso the room he needs to work. ]

Maa, you always were the best at picking up a thread of information and following it.
[If he already had a few needles being cleansed by the fire as he speaks and if he avoids touching anything but skin as he inspects the wound there's no reason to call attention to it as small paws work with mechanical precision of having done this enough for muscle memory to kick in.]
I would ask if you and KyoKyo got into another mommy and daddy spat, but she'd have just gave you a concussion and not something like this.

Rest assured, Kyouken and I parted ways over a week before this particular injury.. The roads are becoming dangerous between the smaller realms, do be careful if you wander further afield.
[There's a flash of visible concern in his expression, an inkling of the greater web of worries he's been sorting through in recent months and where it would usually be gone just as quickly, it lingers.]
I have been untangling knots, but others are pulling the strings. As predicted, war is brewing, Kawauso.

Well, it's a good thing I don't mind the wet so much and the little border towns of this country are pretty lucrative. Maybe we should put a little show on here for a bit. I'm sure some of the younger ones would like a chance to perform for an audience.
[Luckily he learned to speak what he means without actually saying it exactly was learned from Houou so he has no fear the actual meaning of his chatter is lost. That and Kawauso has some respect for the fact that speaking something out loud can cause a self fulfilling prophecy if one isn't careful.]

I am heading back out to our more widely flung kin in the next few days. I will pass the suggestion along, though I have yet to see Komori pass up the opportunity to fill his coffers and it has been ever so long since we performed..
[He trails off, smile touching his lips at the thought of being with more than just a handful of his kin at any one time and his mind works over a route that jogs his memory.]
Ah, it is not often that I have need of a particular insight, but could I trouble your thoughts with something small?
[Houou reaches into the folds of his discarded robe and retrieves a neatly folded scrap of cloth, inside which is a glossy looking ravens feather. He's highly expecting the flight and life of a bird but.. Times are troubling and there is talk of a smartly dressed observer and it's been too many years but, on the off chance he wasn't losing his mind..]
no subject
Well, that certainly isn't a feather from a normal bird.]

Houou's never enjoyed putting more of a burden on Kawauso's ability than necissary and has specifically avoided it at all costs; too many sleepless nights and tearful nightmares to add anything else to the library in the young mans head, but just this once he has to be certain and there's no other way without risking an incident.
The outer robe follows the tunic, belted also as he waits, but impatience and worry creep down his spine faster than he expects, prompting a careful touch to the wrist of the paw that grasps the feather, attempting to draw the others attention back as he had done in the past.]
Forgive me a fools errand, Kawauso. Merely a trick of an old mind. It is something I should not have asked of you.
[Still, he's hopeful..]
no subject
Emonzaemon.
[Even as he lets the feather go and actually looks at Houou he's still in the memories and sensations because he had to see if it was just confused jumbles or if there actually was a pattern.]
He's following you? Us? The raven seems always near clan if not with a man in a mask.
[He shakes out of it and grins]
Maa, boss are you dealing with an ex we don't know about?
[Because saying out loud what that actually felt like was not something he could do right now.]
no subject
The name, the mention of a mask, they all mean very little and he hesitates in asking for more details but that blasted raven.. No, if someone wanted them dead it would have happened by now, or so he reasons and as long as this stranger maintains simple observation and nothing more, he doesn't need to add it to his growing lists of concerns just yet.
Houou catches himself brooding for a moment; always the same worries, even after all these years and one would think, given the amount, he would have outlived at least some of them by now but, as ever, it isn't the case and unwanted specters creep back no matter how much time passes..much like his memories.
..Houou, what have you done?. What indeed. There was fire then too, smoke so thick through the trees that they could barely see.]
..what I had to.[The words slip out on a breath, barely audible and he shakes from the memory to regard Kawauso with a droll look.]
Nothing so pedestrian that I could name. Just a shadow with similarities to old ghosts and one too many sleepless nights I fear. That name holds no significance that I can fathom, but I will alert the others all the same..It wouldn't do for us to be caught on the back foot after all..
