Test Drive Post!
Sunshineverse | ||||||||
Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right? Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header: Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation Then you comment around and play with everyone else! If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country. One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on. And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application.

"And you, don't answer about your health like that again. I only care about your eyes because they're attached to you, not because of what they can do. I value my people more than that."

His shoulders slumped just a little at the mention of being valued for more than just his eyes. "That's... going to take some getting used to." It was murmured, and Shisui averted his gaze to Obito's desk.
And, finding the need to change the topic from himself to something else, he quickly added: "I've been meaning to ask. Do you know of anyone with a spoiled brat of a cat who's escaped into the streets for the millionth time?" There was just that one lady with that old cat; he was hoping it'd be a yes so he could get Ami to train... Sort of like her first real mission.

But he cocked an eyebrow at the bit of information that followed. Fugaku and Hiashi at the Hokage's door because their children were hurt on missions? "Since when did the children of clan leaders find themselves exempt from the fate the rest of the shinobi world embraces readily?" Had they really gotten so soft? Or--? Shisui eyed Obito closely, almost frowning. "How badly injured?" And under what circumstances? That last bit wasn't voiced, though it was apparent in the suspicious stare he was giving his older cousin.

"Since they started getting in over their heads it seems. Itachi's ended up with broken hands, the Milani clan head was barely saved from lethal poison, and Hinata wasn't exactly in good shape herself. Sasuke came out the best of it, but apparently Fugaku took exception to his sons both being injured in the same situation, which happened to... have misinformation about it."
He offered him the scroll. "There's been an unfortunate amount of that going around."

He had to slide his fingers just low enough so that his view was unhindered when he stared at Obito, deadpan. "Itachi-- broken hands?!" He wasn't even going to ask what Itachi had been up to in order to get himself broken hands. That wasn't a very common injury, so he might had to have gone and done something ridiculous, Shisui surmised.
It wasn't often that Shisui got to call Itachi an idiot, but this time he was tempted to. And yet he wasn't sure if this was a result of torture or rescue or just plain old daredevilry, so he refrained from getting himself even more agitated over the state of his best friend's health. "What was he thinking? What-- Obito-n--" Shisui paused, shaking his head once while he cleared his throat, changing gears. "Hokage-sama." Ah, still not used to referring to his cousin by his formal title.
"Tell me it wasn't Sasuke trying to show off in front of his big brother and Itachi had to risk everything to rescue him." Shisui's tone was almost pleading. --Because once upon a time he remembered Sasuke being so very competitive.
Last time he checked, he didn't think that much had changed...
He moved to accept the scroll from the other man, swiftly glancing over its contents. That will do. The ninja cat, that is.
But once again, he turned his attention to Obito, eyebrow raised while he rolled the scroll back up. "A lot of misinformation?" He sounded almost exasperated. He sounded almost accusing, too. How could you let this happen? "Has anything been done to address it?" Shisui was almost willing to accept the task of introducing some form of 're-education' to set things right if this was beginning to become a habit. To a veteran of the Third Shinobi War, this behavior was unacceptable. And being an Uchiha and having lived through hostile years and harbored vivid memories of injustice, Shisui worried. He worried for Obito, for them all.
This... clearly wasn't what he was expecting to hear upon arrival.

"From what I understand, one of the combatants was a man that had long black hair and summoned snakes on the team." He had no doubt that Shisui would see how bad of a picture those facts painted. "As for the information problems... it's not inside the village. All intelligence personnel have been gone over recently. It's the missions themselves, they're being misrepresented by the clients more often, and I've started to send out people to see if this is a coordinated effort to thin the ranks."

Shisui stiffened, his eyes flashing danger at Obito's description of said combatant. "Could it be..." Orochimaru. He dared not utter the name, as if doing so would empower the bearer of it. But he seethed at the possibility of it being the man himself. Traitor.
And worse: the man saw them as mere experiments. A means to an end.
Perhaps he could forgive Itachi for intervening. Should Orochimaru get a hold of the Sharingan, then...
"You think they're trying to lure us out?" That-- was a double-edged sword. And immediately, Shisui connected dots to start worrying about a related issue: "Where is Kushina-san at the moment?" Not that he doubted her abilities, or Minato's, to defend herself, but there was something very unsettling about the whole thing.
Shisui... worried.

But that was what a Hokage did. He made sure his people felt secure.
Even if that might not be true.
"It's very possible." It was a murmur, and he let out a soft sigh. "At the moment, Kushina-nee is in Uzushio, dealing with a few things that came up over getting some of her newest nin settled."
no subject
He was only very vaguely reassured about Kushina's whereabouts, and Shisui frowned, setting Kushina as a topic aside to tackle the possibility of Orochimaru planning something sinister. "How much do we know of him since he left Konoha?"
Has anyone ever found his hideout, or been able to decipher what kind of agenda the man was running at the moment? What was he playing with now? Shisui believed in keeping ones enemies close, and Orochimaru was too far underground for his comfort.

Not or lack of trying. There's a reason that he'd been fielding some of his intel people off in that direction for the last few years.
