Test Drive Post!
Sunshineverse | ||||||||
Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right? Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header: Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation Then you comment around and play with everyone else! If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country. One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on. And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application.

I am predictable and pathetic but it's easier to throw her around.
She kept the bulk of her hair hidden in her hood, keeping it hidden as she approached him with friendly banter, "You new to town, stranger? Don't think I've seen you around before."
... Granted, she wasn't in too much of a position to say that herself, but being there for three weeks let the townsfolk have at least some familiarity with her civilian guise. Maybe it would for this man too, and it was her job to gather intel then...
That sounds uncomfortable for her.
Perhaps the thought of 'friendly' in this case was influenced by the time he spent around Hotaru. It would be another case of laziness induced by his stay. Ah, but dwelling on regret and poor decisions would get him nowhere, and would do nothing to answer questions without casting undue suspicion on him.
He quickly glanced over her person for obvious weapons (one thing he hadn't gotten out of practice of) before he responded, tone pitched as if he were thoroughly bored. "You wouldn't have. I'm a traveler."
Considering what happened earlier? It definitely is.
That was when she made an appealing jingle with her coin purse, her smile pulling into a grin as the offer was placed, "Well stranger, I'm curious enough to want to know more than just that you're a traveller. Not for free, of course -- I want to give you a good hot meal as payment, if that sounds good to you? I can spare a bit of Ryo to lean more about a potential friend."
... Inwardly this persona was making her squirm uncomfortably, but by that point she was so used to pretending to care that part of it was just starting to come naturally. She hadn't seen a stranger looking quite like this one either, so it wouldn't be a total pain in the ass. Probably.
That makes me worry for her
That would not be in any way enjoyable. But it would net him that purse. In the life of a vagabond, he couldn't be so choosy with opportunities as he could be in the life of a...of a bodyguard.
For her sake, he hoped she was only lying. Even Hotaru had enough of a sense of self preservation to refrain from assuming strangers were undiscovered friends. Probably...
He sighed after his moment of consideration. "If that's what you want to spend your money on. However, I won't allow you to retract your offer if you find my story lacking in excitement."
Although it would be next to impossible to do so, if he were allowed to eat as he came up with a story to entertain the girl with.
You should, as I'm generally not nice to her. Also LMAO can they both agree that Kisame is scary
... God she hated this guise with a passion.
Still, the acceptance was taken with a grin and she pocketed her coin bag, indicating where she wanted to go before she led the way, "I doubt that your story would be boring. They rarely ever are from travellers, so it'd be strange if you were an exception to that rule."
A beat, and she gave him a bright grin, "Sorry about not saying this earlier. My name's Shindo Masami. Can I know your name?"
Would anyone disagree?
Or just the dinner. He didn't mind a dinner for telling a story that would be at least halfway made-up. Her offer being nothing more than it seemed would be a pleasant surprise, however. The life of a rogue-nin (particularly one with, what he'd last glanced, a fifty-million ryo bounty on his head) meant that everything was suspect. Especially overly friendly strangers.
...Then again, maybe he should pass on the invitation entirely. She was a talker, this one.
"Utakata..." He didn't usually worry about giving away his name. Anyone who knew his name would know his face and vice-versa. Anyway, if someone wanted to try to collect their bounty, they were welcome to try. "It's not really rude when there hasn't been an earlier to say it in. We've only just met."
Probably just her cousin.
"Do you like green teas, Utakata-san? I'm partial to Jasmine myself."
Then her cousin is the exception that proves it
"I presume my parents were feeling creative." If they named him at all. Being raised as a ward (a tool, really, nothing more) of the Bloody Mist meant that he had no idea whatsoever what his parents were like. They were probably killed as soon as he was selected as Jinchuuriki just to prevent him from having conflicting loyalties.
He frowned down at her. "...Are you suggesting that hot tea is a hot meal?"

... This kinda felt like some kind of weird date. But still, learning about him...
"I'm headed out west, to my village. I've been on the road for a while, and my family's there waiting for me to get back with trade deals and stories. How about you?"
no subject
"Duck seems excessive for a casual story, don't you think?" Everything she did only served to heighten his suspicion of her. No one was ever this generous and friendly without a reason, and approaching a stranger in the hope of an exciting story wasn't enough of a reason for that.
He huffed after a moment of thought. "I don't have a destination. Like I said, I'm...sight-seeing." Civilians and those sorts did that sort of thing, didn't they?
no subject
"Please, it's been too long since I've gotten to treat someone to dinner. It's been lonely for me, and hearing someone's stories helps me feel closer to them -- at least that's what I think. I'm serious, order anything you want."
no subject
"You really have chosen the wrong person if you're looking for interesting company..." If she wasn't plotting something, he had the worrying feeling that girls her age might simply be drawn to him for some reason. That was almost as tedious as being constantly hunted.
"If you're so intent, I'd rather have the pork anyway." ...Was she expecting him to launch into a story...? She would be disappointed, if so.
no subject
"Maybe you could start with something interesting happening to you recently? If you can, anyway -- I've run into a ton of secretive types and as much as I want to hear it I understand if something is too personal to share."
no subject
He grimaced in discomfort. Was that the reason this girl insisted on treating him to things and asking him questions? Because that was...unfortunate. He resisted the urge to glance toward the exit, however, because even if the girl was deeply misled about him, she was still providing food, and he was no longer in a situation where he could so easily dismiss an opportunity.
She wanted him to come up with something interesting? "An owl fell on my shoulder as I walked through the forest."
no subject
"I can't say anything like that's happened to me, at least not with animals. Most of my trips on the road are fairly quiet, almost eerily so. I don't even run into bandits most times."
no subject
"Maybe you don't look like you have anything to steal." That seemed like the only reason why someone wouldn't be accosted by bandits while traveling alone. When he wore things that indicated he might be hiding valuables (unlike the robes he wore now that appeared to have no such room) he usually needed to dispatch greedy and foolish bandits.
