The NPC Meme



I'm sure someone knows their names...

Welcome to the NPC meme! This meme has certain special rules and functions unlike many other memes! In this meme, the NPC journal isn't just encouraged, it's how you play. Or, at least...how someone involved in the thread does.

The premise is simple: You post your character to lure in some characters who aren't currently being played, and someone else brings in the NPC journal with their interpretation of that character. You play a thread! CR gaps filled!

Alternatively, if you have a character you might be interested in playing in the capacity of an NPC (such as a character you don't want to app, and thus put in a test drive, for one reason or another) then post a top level for that NPC.

Currently played characters may tag out only to NPC top level comments, not to each other. NPC characters could tag to anyone. However, since threads in this meme are eligible for AC (and therefore game canon), it's best for NPCs to tag current characters, rather than other NPCs.

Steps/Rules

1: Post a top level with either your character or an NPC you'd like to play for the meme (Using the NPC account!) - If you're looking for someone specific to tag you, be sure to include it in the top level somewhere so people know to bring them.

2: With your characters, tag out to NPC top-levels or wait for an NPC to tag you. With NPCs, tag out to top level 'current' character threads, or respond to characters that tag your NPC of choice.

3: Thread things that can't yet be played out, or might never be able to be played out!

4: When playing an NPC, since you'll be using the NPC account to do it, don't forget to track the thread with one of your own accounts! (If you have a paid, at least. For free accounts, it's still recommended that you track at least the entire post so you don't miss anything!)

"It really has. I've been doing this and that, you know, the usual sort of thing. You on the other hand! I've been hearing all kinds of things! What's this about you working at the Academy recently?" She smiled brightly, looking at her over a tomato she was examining for flaws.

"That one's not just a rumor, Hokage-Sama suggested it and I went with it, so now I'm a teacher's aid for Iruka-sensei. It's tiring, but a lot of fun," Her smile was just as bright as Mikoto's while she observed, honestly feeling happier than she had in a long time. It was nice to not have to worry about screwing up, or Kiri, or... Well, anything life-threatening. It was a really nice break from all the chaos in her life from the previous year.

"You're practically glowing. I think that might be just the sort of thing you needed to do." She looked her over, thoughtful. "Last time I saw you you didn't look anywhere near this relaxed. Are you thinking of taking up a postion there permanently?"

"No, not permanently. I'm really happy for the experience but I don't think I could keep it up forever, or would want to. My goals still haven't been achieved," Another nod to Mikoto and she looked over the vegetables with Mikoto as they talked. It really was nice just to spend time like this with her... Whether it was training or tagging along with her shopping.

"A shame, but if it's not for you it's not for you." She shook her head, comfortably in step with the girl as she moved from vendor to vendor, exchanging smiles and greetings. "So what are the goals you're currently chasing?"

Ah... Her skin heated as she thought of the goal, unsure of whether she wanted to say it in public or not. She didn't want it to spread around the village, or it might be seen as treasonous (even if Obito himself knew better), but Mikoto deserved to know...

At last, she lowered her voice, trying to be subtle as she spoke, "I'm reaching for the top. As high as I can possibly dare to dream of going."

"Ruling the world?" There was a touch of impishness to the question, and she looked over to see the girl's reaction before continuing. "I'm guessing you want to be Hokage someday then? Or am I guessing poorly?"
