Test Drive!

Sunshineverse
Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right?

Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header:
Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation

Then you comment around and play with everyone else!

If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country.

One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on.

And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application.

Pengin Maniwa ll Katanagatari ll Traveling through Fire Country

[personal profile] fateruination 2015-02-26 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
Pengin wasn't exactly certain just why he was the one who was sent to pick up, well, whatever item it was that Umigami needed and didn't trust anyone else to get. His leader was really odd sometimes when it came to such things, but it was nice that he actually felt he could trust him to go out and do such and not coddle him like some of the other Maniwa like to do.

Though, he did wish he had been given more information then somewhere in Fire Country, and think of it as a good intelligence gathering exercise. This country was really big and well there was only so far his feet could take him for a certain length of time. Which was why it was becoming a bit regular to see a small child dressed like a penguin sitting on a rock or tree stump now and again to rest and figure out which way to go next. Sometimes he even had a scroll or several sheets of paper out to read and check off items as he went.

snowchild: (gasp - THE OVEN)

travelling through fire country buddies u say

[personal profile] snowchild 2015-02-26 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
With just as hazy a goal - that being, find one particular person whose last known address was 'the Country of Fire' with only a name and a description to go by - Konayuki's travels were roughly as circuitous as Pengins.

Which made their eventual meeting almost fated. Perhaps, in a way, Konayuki herself counted as some kind of reverse missile, as she bounded up to the other child sat on the stump. What was he doing? Some kind of diary, it looked like.

"Hello!"
fateruination: (Shiver and Shake)

Clearly the adults in their lives are the best adults

[personal profile] fateruination 2015-02-26 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
The flail and slight jump/skip/hop thing that just happened was likely hilarious to look at. Though Pengin was more focused on the fact his heart attempted to escape just then.

"U-uhm, Hel...Hello?"

Maybe it's not too late to go hide in a tree.
snowchild: (sup gaiz - friends over here)

no ninja knows how to parent it's the rules

[personal profile] snowchild 2015-02-26 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
"What are you doing?" She attempted to peer at the paper, and then realised that she'd never be able to do that whilst he was seated and she was on the ground. So, to fix that as simply as possible, she hopped up onto the tree stump beside him. It creaked alarmingly, until she remembered to drop her pack back down and it was able to settle under the drastically reduced weight.

"Is that a letter?"
fateruination: (contemplate your thoughts and life)

it does explain so much though

[personal profile] fateruination 2015-02-26 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
"N-no, it's not a letter. T-they're lists of p-places I've checked already for something. That is uhm, just n-notes."

He really should be more alarmed by the whole weight thing but considering some of those he claims as clan-kin...instead he's more freaked out that fellow child is in his space bubble.

"Wh-what are you doing out here?"
snowchild: (awww - everyone's adorable)

[personal profile] snowchild 2015-02-26 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm looking for someone," she answered readily, dropping down to sit beside him. "He lives in this country, but I forgot to ask where... I didn't think of making a list at all!" She was impressed, clearly.

Feet kicking against the tree, she tried to get a proper look at his notes. "What's your name?"
fateruination: (stay back from worldly fights)

[personal profile] fateruination 2015-02-26 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
"Do y-ou know what your person does? Sometimes that c-can help find out where t-they might live."

Social Awkwardness can be forgotten if it means being helpful. Look he wants to help you now in his odd way.

"O-oh m-m-my name? It's Pengin of t-the Maniwa clan. N-nice to meet you."

He'll just vibrate and thus accidentally shuffle those papers you are trying to look at while attempting to be more like a turtle and hide in his hat and neck ruff.
snowchild: (nyehehe - that's me)

[personal profile] snowchild 2015-02-26 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Oh well, he was more interesting than the papers anyway. Her focus shifted appropriately, and she giggled as he ducked into his ruff. His outfit looked so much like the birds that lived on the coast that he didn't even feel that strange, and it was fun to be the older one for once.

Or at least, she assumed she was older. And didn't bother waiting for a correction.

"Pengin-chan, right? It's nice to meet you! I'm Konayuki of the Itezora. And that person is an, um, a shinobi." That was most of her information, and she gave it proudly.
fateruination: (as you contemplate existence)

[personal profile] fateruination 2015-02-26 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
He won't really bother to find out who really is older, he's pretty much used to being the baby of any group and speaking up about it would be rude and Oshidori-san would never let him be rude to anyone, especially not a girl.

"A-ah yes K-k-konayuki-san."

He pops a little out of his hiding because well that actually helps a lot in him at least pointing her in the right direction. One of them doesn't have to be so hopelessly lost now.

"T-then he may b-be in K-konohagakure. T-that's where shinobi for Fire live. So, well it would be the best place t-to look."
mokutonno: (Oh hai)

does the thing......

[personal profile] mokutonno 2015-02-26 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
Yamato almost didn't catch the question, laden down with groceries as he was and almost ran right into the small figure that had swerved out of the crowed to meet him.
Kakashi's name caught his attention though and he peered down at the child, blinking at the sheer amount of fluff they seemed to be made of and eyed what seemed to be an alarmingly heavy pack for such a small figure.

"Uncle- Wha? I uh, how do you know of Kakashi, if you don't mind me asking?"

He wasn't about to give away a location until he knew more about the child, but that didn't mean he had to be rude, as they seemed peaceful enough.

snowchild: (enthuses - AND THEN)

[personal profile] snowchild 2015-02-26 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
And with what was fast becoming the ease of long practice, Konayuki responded with a bright, "I found him in the snow." Unlike the last few times she'd answered with that, she felt compelled to add, "I'm going to live in his village."
thebestuchiha: (Whaaat?)

[personal profile] thebestuchiha 2015-02-26 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, packs were important and he could have smacked himself for spacing it. "Right. Pack it is!" He turned around, padding over and leaning to get it with his other hand...

And failed miserably.

He released it and straightened, looking at her with a slightly more calculating view. "You can pick that thing up, no problem?"
snowchild: (gasp - THE OVEN)

[personal profile] snowchild 2015-02-27 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
"Yep," was her distracted answer as she wriggled around to grab the top of the satchel... and promptly pulled herself right out of his arms when neither the bag or Obito went anywhere as she tugged. "--Whoops!"
thebestuchiha: (Bwaha I got you)

[personal profile] thebestuchiha 2015-02-27 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
He caught her before she could land on her face, setting her on her feet. "Okay, that thing is pretty heavy. You can lift stuff like that with no trouble huh?" He waited for her to adjust the bag and offered her his hand.
snowchild: (pic#6936966)

[personal profile] snowchild 2015-02-27 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Huh? This isn't heavy at all." She looked up at him, faintly questioning but still polite as she shouldered the bag and rearranged the blade on her back. "I didn't have that much to bring, really-- ah, maybe it's heavy for ground-dwellers? You're weaker than us, right?"
thebestuchiha: (You have to be kidding)

[personal profile] thebestuchiha 2015-02-27 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
"Not exactly a complimentary way of saying it but I can only think of two, maybe three people who could pick that up other than you." He shook his head, taking her hand once she seemed done arranging her things. "So you're really strong huh? Any other features about you I should know about? I don't want you accidentally breaking walls or people."
snowchild: (nooo - I don't wanna)

[personal profile] snowchild 2015-02-27 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
She's ten and what is diplomacy. She took his hand eagerly, though, and perhaps her light grip would be reassuring.

"Ah? No, no. I'm not strong," she replied, suddenly flustered. "I was the weakest in my clan. Even the other kids were stronger than me, not to mention the adults... What do you mean by features, uncle?"
thebestuchiha: (Bwaha I got you)

[personal profile] thebestuchiha 2015-02-27 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"Kiddo, you're stronger than almost every trained fighter in my village if you judge just by ability to lift things. So, what else is normal to your clan that might not be out here with us folk?" He gave her a smile. Though he needed the information, he had no need to be mean or anything like that.

Kazue Uzumaki | Original | Sunagakure

[personal profile] wind_and_whirl 2015-02-27 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[1. Land of Wind -- Returning to Suna With Potential Delays.]

The trek back to the village following a rigorous training session was usually uneventful, but that didn't mean Kazue was wholly relaxed as she made her way across the sand toward the road leading to the village. Her favored training area was one that saw highly poisonous scorpions on occasion, not to mention inconsistent patches of quick sand that tended to make the possibility of interruption by foreigners extremely unlikely. That shinobi who had no business with her were not particularly inclined to wander into the area for its dangers made the location a decent one for practical experience and privacy, the latter being something she favored when attempting certain combinations in practice. It also meant she had reason to remain alert despite any weariness and alert she was, a thin layer of chakra consistently, effortlessly applied to her footwear as she walked with keen eyes in support.

The tanuki perched atop her shoulder swayed back and forth as his puppeteer continued her trek across the sand, bracing only when she leaped the occasional pit of quicksand. To say there was a lot on the kunoichi's mind would have been an understatement. The session had left her with a lot to think about, particularly with regards to the application of fuuinjutsu to her puppetry. One of the scrolls at her back was given an instinctive, affectionate pat for her turning thoughts regarding the performance. She had learned a lot today, enough to take another step in acquiring the strength she desired, and that was something to be proud of, but never content about. Contentment bred idleness, didn't it?

That was right, wasn't it?

She came to an abrupt halt not for that question, but for the familiar, red tipped stinger protruding from the sand just before the road, a hand moving smoothly, swiftly for a sealing scroll. She was going to be there for a while.

[2. Delayed Courier, Also Known As Stranded in the Middle Of You Pick!]

"Troublesome."

That was the verdict Kazue announced to no one in particular as she reached to tuck a few stray strands of red behind her ear. The tanuki puppet on her opposite shoulder leaned slowly, almost comically forward to look her in the face as she continued to stare down the village in front of her with a look that spoke of her irritation. The village wasn't to blame, of course. She knew very well that courier missions with out-of-town recipients tended to be given to her at the behest of a sensei she had every intention of punishing for his continued interference. He was trying to slow her down, to hinder her in her goals, and her tolerance for it had dried with this final offense.

It was the puppet that drew her somewhat out of concocting her own plans for her troublesome teacher for the paw that found her cheek and gave it a good, solid poke, followed by a slow rub. Turning deep blue eyes to him, she regarded him for a moment, then raised a hand to give him a slow, benign poke to tip him upright onto her shoulder. With that, the red-head will be moving soundlessly to report to the authorities in the village regarding her temporary stay for the sake of the mission, then to investigate the village's diners and any potential sweet shops.

That that was becoming routine was even more troublesome.

[3. Sweet Shop, Any Village!]

There was no going back. Once Kazue had crossed the threshold of the sweet shop, she had known the fate of her ryo and accepted it with all the grace of a teenaged girl ruled on some level by a powerful sweet tooth. The strength of said rule saw her usually harnessed energy visibly bubbling over through her every movement to the point that she nearly bounded over to the display case and, rather than stand and make her selection like a proper adult, saw her rock on the balls of her feet, hands locked behind her back as she leered at the display case with great interest and a definite smile.

Where Kazue fell just short of acting like a child, Takkun picked up the slack and scampered around the back of her neck from shoulder to shoulder. This one, that one -- he pointed, shook, leered at the kunoichi when her eyes wandered toward certain items. He even pouted, seemingly espousing nonverbal disagreement and some argument as Kazue paced the display cases and debated her choice.

Er, choices.

There wasn't a snowball's chance in Wind of her leaving without a well-sized bag and it would be some time before she left. Picking was a quarter of the fun and she always wound up questions to put to the shopkeep. Sweets were a wonderful, serious business, after all, and she had time to browse before purchasing.

She just wasn't all that reserved about it.

[4. Backstory. Tell me what!]

Yamato's confusion intensified at her response and it only cleared with the vague memory of Kakashi's last mission and the Jounin's quiet complaints about the cold..
Well that explained where this little one would know him, but living in the village? That was news.

He shifted the weight of the paper bags in his arms and looked at the girl properly as he answered "Is he expecting you?"
snowchild: (squee - SO CUTE)

[personal profile] snowchild 2015-02-28 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
"Nope!" The reply was so fast and so cheerful that its sincerity couldn't be doubted. But then, neither could the fact that she clearly didn't realise that this could possibly be a problem.

"I'm going to surprise him. Ah, you're carrying a lot. Might I help?"

Kisame followed at a more sedate pace, and barely refrained from shaking his head at the girl. She certainly had energy to spar. The training would give her a way to focus it, at least.

"I was planning on having the crab stuffed swordfish, but I've never had something bad at this place, kid. Pick whatever looks most interesting."

She preferred the cold to the hot. Konoha summers were almost impossible to train in: at least when it was cold she was free to move about and warm herself up, either with her newly practiced fire jutsu or with physical movement. There wasn't really anything to be done but sleep and hope for it to be over when it got too hot in Konoha.

Or escape to somewhere cooler like Water country...but that hadn't gone all that well either.

Walking on the snow was smarter than going across the rooftops, true, but it was twice as difficult to maneuver through what people were out and about in the snow without harming anyone if she traveled the streets. She considered it an extra bit of vigilance required to cross the rooftops instead.

And, as an advantage to living dangerously, it allowed her to spot her teammate from a distance she might not have otherwise. Really, after the thing with the giant lizard, and in the face of spending more than a month in Ame soon...spending time around her teammates seemed like a nice prospect.

Thus, some time before he actually made it to Market Street, she dropped from a nearby rooftop to the ground nearby him. She had a scarf, at least, but her activity meant that she didn't feel the need to be nearly as bound up as he was. "Ah...it's cold to be walking somewhere, isn't it?"

He caught her greeting and inclined his head, waving again in something more like a beckon. If they wanted to come closer, they could, he wasn't scared of them. Though the thought had occurred to him that the reverse might be true and so Shino went back to regarding his ants, allowing the figure the chance to pass through or come closer still.
kikaichuu: (yes?)

Re: yesss

Shino nodded along, filing away what she had said for later "Thank you." A quiet murmur against the collar of his tunic, but there was the smallest smile there, pleased that Hinata had thought to bring him what he needed to not fall behind.

At her inquiry, he checked their progress again, shifting an obstacles out of their path "Restocking their nest after winter..I was assisting them."
