Test Drive!
Sunshineverse | ||||
Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right? Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header: Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation Then you comment around and play with everyone else! If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country. One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on. And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application.

Shino Aburame | Naruto | Konohagakure
It was warm and the fields around the Aburame holdings were alive with activity. Spring had filtered through during the past week, banishing the chill of winter during the day lit hours and it felt as if the entire natural world was making up for lost time.
Shino sat among the tall grass, back pressed against one of a number of standing stones that dotted the field, studying intently the path of a nearby ant colony he'd happened across. A small hand reached out to clear the way, carefully plucking stones and debris away from the intrepid line of worker ants; they had, between them, many heavy burdens and it just didn't seem right that they had to climb such mountains at the same time.
Chuunin age:
Winter was..inconvenient. The world slowed to a stand still and it felt to Shino that the kikaichuu did also, made sluggish by the temperature and his own troubled mood.
He wore several more layers than usual to compensate and found himself particularly fond of the overly long scarf looped around his neck; Hinata's handy work at least made the season a little more palatable and happened to be one of the few things he looked forward to when the days grew short.
Given the icey conditions, Shino's gait was as measured as ever but he stuck to the lower levels of the village, wary of the rooftops after the barrage of snow, and wound his way towards Market Street; hopeful of a warm refuge and a meal that didn't involve field rations or Kiba's dubious cooking attempts.
Assuming Shino is 9 for this or it doesn't work, Academy age!
That was when she noticed the black-haired boy in the field, and she instinctively hid herself behind a nearby tree - standing behind the trunk, and occasionally peeking out to see what he was doing. It seemed like he was picking up stones, but why? She couldn't tell... He was by himself though. But he didn't look lost...
Yup! anywhere between like 6 and 12 is fiiine *u*
Shino continued to aid his new ant friends in their endeavors, setting up a small leaf walk way over a rather deep trench in the dirt and kept himself occupied until the kikaichuu sentry he'd sent out to investigate could report back on exactly who or what, was observing him from the tree line.

Finally the girl stepped out a little more from the tree, watching him a bit more boldly. Not that she'd keep going if she was addressed, but she was curious regardless.

It's chakra and careful patterns spoke of safety, or at least a lack of threat; ally and known spelled out for his consideration.
Shino nodded (a habit that he still struggled to suppress, but the movement was a lesser one now than past days) and looked up to openly regard the figure at the tree line, offering the smallest of waves in greeting.
no subject
It was quiet, but she did try to pick up her voice a little so that the other could at least hear her, "... Hullo."

"What're the ants doing?" At last she spoke again, switching her gaze between Shino and the ants as she crouched to look more closely.

Small hands were careful as they removed debris from the surrounding area, giving the soldiers room to work. Shino's glasses gave him the advantage of being able to glance up unseen and study his new companion and he took advantage of that fact.
Red hair. An Uzumaki then? Or perhaps an Akamichi cousin.. No, missing clan tattoo's, it can't be. He pondered, certain he'd seen the girl before, perhaps at the academy then? This would require further investigation.
"Where you looking for something?"

"Do you attend the academy?"
It would be a good chance to practice his information gathering and the girl seemed to be comfortable enough to be in proximity with him so far, perhaps she would be kinder in her judgement of his abilities if their conversation was successful?

It was a heavy topic, even as a young child she knew that. The warning from her uncle not to speak too much about it played in her head as well, and Adela tried to change the subject while she looked up to Shino again, "D'you like the ants? I don't know a lotta people who like 'em."
Bittties first
"Shino-kun?" she murmurs as she edges closer head tilted in curiosity at what he's looking at this time. Unlike their classmates, she was generally unperturbed by his interest in anything with six legs. It was interesting to hear him explain what he already knew about the insect species in question.
yesss
"Hinata-chan."
The previous night had been a restless one for Torune and he'd been allowed to skip class to keep him company; ushered out to play once his cousin had found sleep sometime earlier that afternoon, so it was good to see his friend now, after missing her during the day.
"Did I miss anything interesting, today?"
The question was accompanied by a questioning tilt of his head, before he dropped his chin to again regard the marching creatures before him.
Re: yesss
"Iruka-sensei showed us a couple jutsus that we'd be able to do by the time we graduate today. And a student a couple classes above us set the trash on fire trying to show off." She sighs, she might have rolled her eyes about the student if it wouldn't be rude. She didn't actually have anything against the student in question, didn't even know them. But there were plenty of occasions where someone in their own class did something stupid to show off and then have it backfire in their face.
"We have a quiz at the end of the week on tactics." She pauses studying the ants over Shino's shoulder, "What are the ants doing?"
Re: yesss
At her inquiry, he checked their progress again, shifting an obstacles out of their path "Restocking their nest after winter..I was assisting them."
Re: yesss
Looking for a safe spot to set her bag down, Hinata squatted down next to Shino to watch once she found one. It was always interesting to watch Shino at work. The grace as he moved things so as not to disturb the ants or other insects he watching. So unlike the movements of a Hyuuga, and by far more gentle.
"That's helpful. Do you think they appreciate it?"
no subject
Shino looked up then, head tilted and catching Hinata's eye despite the darkness of his glasses, a muted smile curing his lips. "They do not have the capacity for gratefulness, but their diligence should be rewarded regardless."
no subject
"And what if they do? What if they're ant summons and are grateful for your help in continuing the colony until they find a worthy person to contract with?"

Or escape to somewhere cooler like Water country...but that hadn't gone all that well either.
Walking on the snow was smarter than going across the rooftops, true, but it was twice as difficult to maneuver through what people were out and about in the snow without harming anyone if she traveled the streets. She considered it an extra bit of vigilance required to cross the rooftops instead.
And, as an advantage to living dangerously, it allowed her to spot her teammate from a distance she might not have otherwise. Really, after the thing with the giant lizard, and in the face of spending more than a month in Ame soon...spending time around her teammates seemed like a nice prospect.
Thus, some time before he actually made it to Market Street, she dropped from a nearby rooftop to the ground nearby him. She had a scarf, at least, but her activity meant that she didn't feel the need to be nearly as bound up as he was. "Ah...it's cold to be walking somewhere, isn't it?"
no subject
"I had not planned to stay out in it long. Would you care to join me? It's nearing midday.."
It was as close to an invitation to share a meal as he was prone to give, but there was a small smile behind words, pleased at the chance to spend some time with her.

"...Mm. I didn't have anything planned to do right now." Soon she'd have to start preparing for her mission to Ame, but at least most of her day today she needn't worry about it. Not running now, though (and in company that might not appreciate sudden bursts of flame), she tucked her hands into her pockets to keep them warmer. "Do you mind getting an early present, or a late one? I'll be on a mission then..."
no subject
"..Present? Have I missed a mutual occasion?"
The days and months had slowly melded into a mass of back to back missions and training after their promotions, but he had been prompt with various gifts of the season and his team mate's naming days so what...oh. Were they that far into January already?
"Ah..whichever is convenient, no plans have been made beyond recent missions.."
