Test Drive!
Sunshineverse | ||||
Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right? Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header: Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation Then you comment around and play with everyone else! If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country. One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on. And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application.

Shino Aburame | Naruto | Konohagakure
It was warm and the fields around the Aburame holdings were alive with activity. Spring had filtered through during the past week, banishing the chill of winter during the day lit hours and it felt as if the entire natural world was making up for lost time.
Shino sat among the tall grass, back pressed against one of a number of standing stones that dotted the field, studying intently the path of a nearby ant colony he'd happened across. A small hand reached out to clear the way, carefully plucking stones and debris away from the intrepid line of worker ants; they had, between them, many heavy burdens and it just didn't seem right that they had to climb such mountains at the same time.
Chuunin age:
Winter was..inconvenient. The world slowed to a stand still and it felt to Shino that the kikaichuu did also, made sluggish by the temperature and his own troubled mood.
He wore several more layers than usual to compensate and found himself particularly fond of the overly long scarf looped around his neck; Hinata's handy work at least made the season a little more palatable and happened to be one of the few things he looked forward to when the days grew short.
Given the icey conditions, Shino's gait was as measured as ever but he stuck to the lower levels of the village, wary of the rooftops after the barrage of snow, and wound his way towards Market Street; hopeful of a warm refuge and a meal that didn't involve field rations or Kiba's dubious cooking attempts.
Assuming Shino is 9 for this or it doesn't work, Academy age!
Yup! anywhere between like 6 and 12 is fiiine *u*

Konayuki Itezora | Katanagatari | ????? kakashi's village ???? wherever that is???????
No but seriously she had no idea the Land of Fire was so large. Fortunately, she remains undaunted, pushes her backpack further up her shoulder, and patters over to the nearest person with metal on their face.
Hitai-ate. That's the word. She thinks. ]
Um! Excuse me! Might you be able to tell me where Uncle Kakashi lives?

Sora Himoto (Uzumaki) | Shitsurakuen | Uzushiogakure
[ 2. Team-building. ]
In theory, the decision to build trust and communication between a relatively new cell of genin via extra training was a good one. Blindfold the two who usually led, set them at the start of a hellish assault course, and place the fate of their shins and their prides in the hands of the quieter third... it had the makings of an excellent exercise. In practice, however, Sora had already stumbled into two trees, Karin, and their jounin sensei, and they hadn't even started yet.
She now stood nursing her forehead - having forgotten it was unprotected now that her headband had been re-tied over her eyes. Unerringly, she turned to look at Koharu. Give her sympathy......
"This is a lot harder than it looked..!"

Mae | OC | Undecided village affiliation
Anyway, if this local political leader was so worried about assassins and conspiracies against him, Mae razing part of a town where the conspirators hideout was would totally take care of the problem, and it would stop wasting Mae's time. Anyway, if he burned down part of the town, then he wouldn't get assigned these missions anymore. Probably punished too, but maybe it would be something fun like working in T&I. They wouldn't mke him watch over Academy brat again after what he'd done last time....so it wouldn't be that bad.
And in deference to civilian life, he was going to set his fire in the early morning with some very nasty accelerate, so innocents could run screaming while the nefarious plotters who had been up gambling all night would be caught in their beds and probably choke on the noxious smoke.
Really, Mae was just bored enough he didn't care about proper planning and set up. He was just going to light the damn place up and let it burn.
Pengin Maniwa ll Katanagatari ll Traveling through Fire Country
Though, he did wish he had been given more information then somewhere in Fire Country, and think of it as a good intelligence gathering exercise. This country was really big and well there was only so far his feet could take him for a certain length of time. Which was why it was becoming a bit regular to see a small child dressed like a penguin sitting on a rock or tree stump now and again to rest and figure out which way to go next. Sometimes he even had a scroll or several sheets of paper out to read and check off items as he went.

Kazue Uzumaki | Original | Sunagakure
The trek back to the village following a rigorous training session was usually uneventful, but that didn't mean Kazue was wholly relaxed as she made her way across the sand toward the road leading to the village. Her favored training area was one that saw highly poisonous scorpions on occasion, not to mention inconsistent patches of quick sand that tended to make the possibility of interruption by foreigners extremely unlikely. That shinobi who had no business with her were not particularly inclined to wander into the area for its dangers made the location a decent one for practical experience and privacy, the latter being something she favored when attempting certain combinations in practice. It also meant she had reason to remain alert despite any weariness and alert she was, a thin layer of chakra consistently, effortlessly applied to her footwear as she walked with keen eyes in support.
The tanuki perched atop her shoulder swayed back and forth as his puppeteer continued her trek across the sand, bracing only when she leaped the occasional pit of quicksand. To say there was a lot on the kunoichi's mind would have been an understatement. The session had left her with a lot to think about, particularly with regards to the application of fuuinjutsu to her puppetry. One of the scrolls at her back was given an instinctive, affectionate pat for her turning thoughts regarding the performance. She had learned a lot today, enough to take another step in acquiring the strength she desired, and that was something to be proud of, but never content about. Contentment bred idleness, didn't it?
That was right, wasn't it?
She came to an abrupt halt not for that question, but for the familiar, red tipped stinger protruding from the sand just before the road, a hand moving smoothly, swiftly for a sealing scroll. She was going to be there for a while.
[2. Delayed Courier, Also Known As Stranded in the Middle Of You Pick!]
"Troublesome."
That was the verdict Kazue announced to no one in particular as she reached to tuck a few stray strands of red behind her ear. The tanuki puppet on her opposite shoulder leaned slowly, almost comically forward to look her in the face as she continued to stare down the village in front of her with a look that spoke of her irritation. The village wasn't to blame, of course. She knew very well that courier missions with out-of-town recipients tended to be given to her at the behest of a sensei she had every intention of punishing for his continued interference. He was trying to slow her down, to hinder her in her goals, and her tolerance for it had dried with this final offense.
It was the puppet that drew her somewhat out of concocting her own plans for her troublesome teacher for the paw that found her cheek and gave it a good, solid poke, followed by a slow rub. Turning deep blue eyes to him, she regarded him for a moment, then raised a hand to give him a slow, benign poke to tip him upright onto her shoulder. With that, the red-head will be moving soundlessly to report to the authorities in the village regarding her temporary stay for the sake of the mission, then to investigate the village's diners and any potential sweet shops.
That that was becoming routine was even more troublesome.
[3. Sweet Shop, Any Village!]
There was no going back. Once Kazue had crossed the threshold of the sweet shop, she had known the fate of her ryo and accepted it with all the grace of a teenaged girl ruled on some level by a powerful sweet tooth. The strength of said rule saw her usually harnessed energy visibly bubbling over through her every movement to the point that she nearly bounded over to the display case and, rather than stand and make her selection like a proper adult, saw her rock on the balls of her feet, hands locked behind her back as she leered at the display case with great interest and a definite smile.
Where Kazue fell just short of acting like a child, Takkun picked up the slack and scampered around the back of her neck from shoulder to shoulder. This one, that one -- he pointed, shook, leered at the kunoichi when her eyes wandered toward certain items. He even pouted, seemingly espousing nonverbal disagreement and some argument as Kazue paced the display cases and debated her choice.
Er, choices.
There wasn't a snowball's chance in Wind of her leaving without a well-sized bag and it would be some time before she left. Picking was a quarter of the fun and she always wound up questions to put to the shopkeep. Sweets were a wonderful, serious business, after all, and she had time to browse before purchasing.
She just wasn't all that reserved about it.
