Test Drive

Sunshineverse
Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right?

Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header:
Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation

Then you comment around and play with everyone else!

If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country.

One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on.

And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application.

Gekkou Hayate | Naruto | Konoha

[personal profile] moonshine011671 2013-12-15 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Hayate coughed a little as he headed through the villages gates. Fresh back from a mission, he was dusty with travel and sore from the fight: he really hoped his ribs weren't broken. They were tender and ached with every coughing fit. Hayate cursed his allergies and hefted his pack higher. Mission debrief, paperwork, then home where he could shower and clean his katana and sit in the sun and not do anything remotely involved with guarding, petty provincal polotics, or fighting with bandits on his way home.

Really. Bandits. It was almost insulting and nearly embarrassing.

Then again, low on chakra and tired in the early-morning twilight, he'd had to rely on very little but his own fast footwork and fighting instincts. He was fast, but ten to one just weren't good odds, even for a tired ninja. The one with the naginata had been very good, too.

Hayate walked down the village street and smiled, because he was home and it was good to be home.

Hayateeee~

Itachi tended to block time in missions and tasks instead of day and night. His sleep schedule was erratic at best since a lot of ANBU missions were carried out at night, or constantly over twenty four hours or more. Sleep came when you could get it. Itachi had been filing paperwork for sometime in the bowels of ANBU headquarters and had emerged with a sealed packet to deliver to another building, probably two or three hours from needing a nap.

One his way he passed another tired looking soul, a ninja not too much older than himself. It was easy to tell Hayate had just gotten back. Itachi bobbed a bow to the man he still considered his elder.

"Welcome back, Hayate-san."

moonshine011671: (Cough B/W)

Itachiiiiiiiii~

[personal profile] moonshine011671 2013-12-15 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"Uweh? Itachi-san, thank you." Hayate stopped and bowed to Itachi. Though younger, Itachi was both higher-ranked and from a well-esteemed important ninja clan, and proper respects had to be paid. "I hope you've been well? It's been a little while since I've seen you..."

Hayate's voice roughened, throat itching. He cleared his throat and muffled a cough behind his hand. It had been a while sinc he'd last seen Itachi...close to a month since their paths had crossed last. Their talents were so disparate they did not often run missions together: when they'd been younger that was how they'd met, on border patrol for a stint of a few weeks. Now, with Itachi's talent so far above and beyond Hayate's, they only managed the occasional meeting now and then.

Such as now.

Itachi patted his pockets on reflex. Hayate usually carried honeyed candies, and Itachi was tired enough he couldn't remember what he had in his pockets for the Konoha-nin who was allergic to trees. Itachi only had lint and a few soldiers pills.

"Well enough. I still have all my limbs. Have you been gone lone?" Itachi paused. "Mah, don't let me keep you. You must be tired."
moonshine011671: (Smirk)

[personal profile] moonshine011671 2013-12-15 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Hayate fished in a pocket and produced a pair of the wax-wrapped candies. He offered these in the flat of his palm to Itachi, who was fond of sweets. It was also polite to share, and Hayate had been raised to be polite. "I can spare some time for a friend. Not too long, a few days," he answered, with a little crooked smile. "I see you're working hard."

He nodded to the sealed packet in Itchia's hands, but he could read the hours of work in the ink-smudges on Itachi's pinkies, the slight hunch to his shoulders, and the squint-lines pinched into his forehead and around his eyes. Itachi probably needed reading glasses, or would soon, but Hayate wasn't sure how to suggest it. An Uchiha's eyeballs were a delicat subject at times.
dangodragon: (little busy eating here)

[personal profile] dangodragon 2013-12-16 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Itachi felt a smile quirk his lips as he took the candy with a murmured thanks. He glanced at the packet. "I'm not sure paperwork counts as hard work." Just long and aggravating, especially as the words had lately started blurring a little if the light wasn't ideal or he'd been reading for more than a few hours.

"Where are you going? I need to drop this off with Kenji-san." Maybe they were going to same way.
moonshine011671: (Cough Colour)

[personal profile] moonshine011671 2013-12-16 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
"Missions desk. I need to fill out a report and debrief, before I go home." Paperwork. Hayate didn't mind it as much as some, but then, he'd never been asked to rewrite a report; his handwriting was very neat. He smiled, though, because their paths did lie along the same route for a while, if Itachi didn't mind walking a little ways.

"And paperwork for you is always hard work." He knew Itachi liked to be doing, rather than sitting.

Hayate unwrapped the second candy and popped it in his mouth; the honey soothed his throat and the sugar would give him a little extra boost in energy. It was a small thing, but sometimes that was all that was needed.
dangodragon: (Art by Lily)

[personal profile] dangodragon 2013-12-16 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Good. They were going the same way. Itachi turned so he would be walking beside Hayate. "Only when the words start crawling around." Years of practice gave one very quick and neat writing, though long reports made his finger joints ache. Was he old already?

Itachi fussed the plastic of the candy open. "Border Patrol again?"
moonshine011671: (Looking up)

[personal profile] moonshine011671 2013-12-16 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
"Mmm, no. Guarding mission for a minor daimyo. The usual politics and impression." Hayate coughed, twice, dry and barking. "Boring, for the most part, to be honest."

Intimidate and take notes, come home and write a report, continue on with life as usual. It was not a mission to make note of, and even the bruised ribs and cut on his shoulder would soon fade. He walked with ease, carefully adjusting his long-legged stride so Itachi would not have to hurry to keep up.
dangodragon: (Shoulder Devil)

[personal profile] dangodragon 2013-12-16 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
Itachi noticed when Hayate shortened his stride and only cast the man a wry look. It wasn't demeaning from Hayate. He was just that polite and kind. One would think he wouldn't make a good ninja. Between his attitude and his cough, most people probably dismissed him.

"Ah." Itachi looked at Hayate. "Did you threaten them with a plague?" Honestly, Hayate should count as a biological weapon. When he was in full allergic swing, he sounded near to death,
moonshine011671: (Right....moron)

[personal profile] moonshine011671 2013-12-16 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Hayate snorted and subsequently had to cough, a brief fit that was both loud and sounded terrible. Clearing his throat, he rasped at Itachi, "No, I certainly did not." Honestly, and imply Konoha sent out sickly ninja to do its jobs? Hayate shook his head.

"I was a silent presence of danger." He cleared his throat again, but the faint rasp, a roughening of the edges of his voice, never truly went away. "As befitting a true shinobi."

The answer was only slightly mocking, an attempt to provoke another one of those little smirks from Itachi.
dangodragon: (Eh-hem)

[personal profile] dangodragon 2013-12-16 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
Itachi looked at the storky and very inoffensive ninja beside him.

"I see."
moonshine011671: (Regretting)

NOT A STORK. TENGU. TENGU!

[personal profile] moonshine011671 2013-12-16 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
Hayate eyed Itachi. "Of course, I suppose that comes naturally to you, oh great Uchiha-sama."

Itachi, who looked like a slender porcelain doll, all fine-boned limbs and thick eyelashes in a narrow little face. The long ponytail didn't help much. Hayate had seen him fight, though, sparred with him hand-to-hand, and knew Itachi's looks said nothing about his strength in a fight.

No ninja's appearance did, to be honest.
dangodragon: (Shoulder Devil)

STORK

[personal profile] dangodragon 2013-12-16 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
Itachi had spent years being the smallest member of his squads or teams. Thirteen around older teens and people in their twenties in ANBU had made him look like a child, even thought he'd been tall for his age.

"Better to be a silent menace then try to speak ad have your voice break." Itachi clacked the candy against his teeth. "The ANBU mask does most of the intimidation."
moonshine011671: (Smirk)

TENGU HAVE LONG LEGS TOO.

[personal profile] moonshine011671 2013-12-16 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
"That it does." After a beat, Hayate added, with the sly snark that was surely rubbing off on him from Itachi, "The rest of us have to work for it, however."

He tipped a little crooked grin at Itachi, cheerfully.

Some might consider him crazy, but Iruka actually enjoyed working the afternoon to evening shift in the missions room. Granted many of the shinobi he saw were tired or ready to get rid of their reports so they could go on to other things... but for him, Iruka had the chance to tell his comrades 'welcome home' and 'thank you for your hard work'.

Because sometimes, he honestly felt that they needed to hear those things.

Usually right before he had to start yelling at lazy individuals that didn't bother to fill their reports out right.

Even so, when he caught sight of the next person stepping up to the mission's desk, he flashed a friendly grin, bright as can be.

"Hayate! Welcome back - wow." He paused mid-sentence to eye his friend critically. "You alright? You look a little... ah... tired..."
moonshine011671: (Looking up)

[personal profile] moonshine011671 2013-12-16 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Been worse," Hayate chuckled, a rusty sound. "Hello, Iruka. Good to see you." He held out the sheaf of paperwork he'd already filled out, his handwriting neat and precise across the pages.

He was tired, yes, and definitely ready to go home and have a nice shower and a very good long soak in a hot bath, but he was alright. Just tired, a little low on chakra, and a little bruised around the edges. Nothing that wouldn't heal.
original_prankster: (...really)

[personal profile] original_prankster 2013-12-16 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
If there was one thing Iruka could trust to, it was that Hayate would always fill his reports out correctly - and this time was no different. A quick, professional skim of the pages revealed all the sections filled out in neat (and more importantly, legible) script... and then stopped just before he stamped it as received.

And then he frowned up at the tired man in question.

"...Funny. You list injuries on here, but there's nothing indicating you've received treatment."

In other words, don't think he's going to let you off the hook with the medics that easy. Friend or no.
moonshine011671: (not good.)

[personal profile] moonshine011671 2013-12-16 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
Whoops. And just within moments of getting stamped. So close to home free. Hayate crooked a smile at his friend. "It's nothing. A couple bruises and a little cut. It'll heal."

Well, okay, so that gash on his shoulder probably needed a stitch or two, but Hayate had bandaged it up neatly at it'd be fine. And the medics wouldn't really do anything about the ribs except give him a pain-blocker and send him on his way. And remind him to breathe deeply and cough. Nothing Hayate didn't already know or couldn't take care of at home anyway.

"Besides, I wanted to get my report turned in first." The very picture of a dutiful ninja, see?
original_prankster: (about to explode)

[personal profile] original_prankster 2013-12-16 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
"The cut that..." he glanced down, one brow arched as he double checked his friend's report. A sure warning sign if ever there was one because this wasn't the first time they'd played this dance.

"Is where, Gekkou-san?"

Double warning. Out with it, shinobi.
moonshine011671: (Regretting)

[personal profile] moonshine011671 2013-12-16 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Here." Hayate tapped his right bicep, casually. He was wearing his spare uniform shirt and there was no gash in the fabric to betray him. Hah, points for him. "It's clean. I've bandaged it, sensei," he teased, gently. "I'm fine. Really. Just tired and in need of a hot supper."

See, he needed to leave. And rest. Come on Iruka, stamp the cursed paper already.
original_prankster: (smile like you mean it)

[personal profile] original_prankster 2013-12-16 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
Well, at least he's not bleeding all over Iruka's floor. But that didn't really mean anything when it came to the stubbornness of ninja, now did it? And so, Iruka sits back in his chair, a bright smile in place because yes, he's still one step away from yelling all the same.

"Which you'll get after swinging by to have a medic look at it, bandaged or not, right?"
moonshine011671: (Cough Colour)

[personal profile] moonshine011671 2013-12-16 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
"It's on my way," Hayate fudged, implying that yes he would stop while really he didn't want to go because he'd only get the same lecture he had gotten several hundred times before. He coughed, brief but harsh, and resisted the urge to put his hand over his ribs.
original_prankster: (keep talking~)

[personal profile] original_prankster 2013-12-16 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
The cough didn't get so much as a blink - but it did get Iruka to reach absently into one of his vest pouches and withdraw a piece of honey hardcandy. This he offered to his friend in a way that spoke of long practice as he glanced at the clock then finally lowered the stamp to paper.

"Well! It's a good thing my shift just ended. Guess I can walk with you there. Wanna pick up something to eat after so you don't have to worry about cooking?"

See this innocent look? It's because he's pretty sure Hayate was going to skip right on past the hospital if left to his own devices and Iruka was tired of his friends not treating themselves properly.

moonshine011671: (Bite Me)

[personal profile] moonshine011671 2013-12-16 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
Aw curses.

Hayate just smiled at his friend, because yeah it was pretty much impossible to escape now. And he was so not buying that look. Iruka trying to look innocent meant "something is up." And as Hayate was currently the recipient of that look, he knew exactly what.

He unwrapped the candy, popped it into his mouth, and resigned himself to staying awake an extra two hours.

"I would hate to take up too much of your time," he said, perfectly politely.
