Test Drive Post!
Sunshineverse | ||||
Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right? Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header: Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation Then you comment around and play with everyone else! If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country. One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on. And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application.

I tried to resist but Nakago
The blond man didn't escape her good eye however, and although both were focused on him briefly it was more than obvious that only one could truly see him. The way he seated himself was something to think about, and she couldn't help wondering if he was likely undercover as she was. Still, there was no point in starting a fight and she didn't particularly want to anyway. The courier mission was important, and she didn't need to go jeopardizing it by picking fights with strangers.
Even if his eyes did unnerve her...
The cry of many
The girl in front of him was neither, but she leaned close enough to the latter to make her disguise pointless. He did wonder whether she was on official business and trying to keep a low profile, though, or whether she also had a target. It would be an amusement if theirs were the same.
Either way, she was more interesting than the others in the square, and when he caught her eye, he offered her a slim and knowing smile. A challenge to her curiosity, bravery if she were smart enough to recognize it, and an invitation to join him if only as long as her presence could fill up his waiting time.
I LOST MY TAG IN THE MIDDLE OF WRITING THIS SON OF A--
Still, the man didn't seem hostile - not that she could tell. It was too much to hope that he was simply a rather observant civilian, no there was no way that he was. The becon to join him with those gestures had her guarded, and she had to think about it - was it worth indulging any curiosity about this man, to join him for tea? Or would she seek the safety of her partner, waiting for his return at the very least?
Her eyes closed then, her thoughts gone over with haste before she shook her head and went back to her own tea. Curiosity wasn't a good thing for a kunoichi to feed, she knew. Not when she was currently alone, and not when she was at least aware of how valuable her village regarded her as. If the man was waiting for her to join him of her own volition, he would likely continue to remain disappointed.
Lazarus?
Perhaps she was the latter, given that she refused the silent invitation. And that would be all for his interest in someone like her, usually. But...there was something familiar about the girl, though he couldn't yet place what it was. He had no time to investigate her now, as he still had a mission of his own to deal with, but after he was finished, it would be a simple matter to track her down again and satisfy his curiosity then.
Time passed, and soon it was time for him to vanish into the crowd, one moment sitting at his seat, and the next gone from sight completely. His mission was a rather simple one, and for a bit of fun he scattered a little bit of evidence to indicate the one who killed the annoyingly loud-mouthed merchant and his guards was the girl instead. If they shared the same target, she could take it as a challenge to find the evidence and clean it up.
If they didn't, then she could take it as a challenge to anticipate his movements, or suffer the consequences later. It would be an appropriate test of her skills.
In the evening, once his other business was finished, he casually searched the town for her again, curious whether she'd left, whether she'd remained, or if she'd been passing through which direction she went. If she were in the town, then it wasn't very large: he'd find her soon enough, walking casually down the street and projecting an entirely false air of relaxed harmlessness.
Not sure if it can be installed on a tablet with chome on it but I can try
In reality, she knew that he wasn't far -- the Hokage had picked him specifically to watch over her, so although she was more than doing her part for the mission he was doing double-duty as a courier and as a body-guard. It was annoying, but after events in recent months she could also see why it was necessary.
Eventually she finally found a food vendor that would serve her, though reluctantly. It was hard to pry information out of him as well, but when she did she couldn't help being shocked -- a murder that had happened, and with what was found it looked like the suspect was red haired and wore similar clothes. She knew it wasn't her, and that the town suspected her... That explained a lot. A red-headed murderer...
Her frown turned to the noodle bowl in front of her, and as she ate quietly she couldn't help thinking that they tasted extremely oily suddenly. So that was what all this was about... They thought it was her. She could tell even the vendor was still suspicious, even if her shock had been genuine. This complicated things... She'd need to tell her partner, if he didn't already know. But there wasn't a huge rush as long as nothing happened, so might as well finish dinner first at least.
It hadn't even occured to her that the blond-haired man she had seen previously was the source of all this trouble, but she likely wouldn't be in a good mood were she to see him again regardless.
Hmm...I'm not sure...
Not that he had any reason to put such effort into her just yet, not until he confirmed exactly what it was about her that pinged his familiarity.
Given that she failed to defuse his trap, it was even easier to find her than it would have been otherwise, and he made it to the noodle stand rather quickly. He settled in a seat next to her, and ordered a bowl of similar noodles in an unassuming and friendly voice. One that might be mistaken either for that of a tourist trying out the local food or of a fellow shinobi simply passing through the town tired from his own mission. Depending on the assumptions of the listener.
Given that she hadn't prevented the town from discovering the evidence, he was almost curious which she would believe.
I'll look into it in a while
"It tastes decent," The words were softly murmered in response to his order, though she kept her gaze on the bowl in front of her and only spoke after she was done a bite. She didn't hesitate to take another, waiting to see what he would do. Just what was this man up to?
Re: I'll look into it in a while
He glanced over in her direction, expression curious and interested. "Only decent? Perhaps I should have tried another stand." He hummed, as if he were thoughtful. "I'm rather selective when it comes to ramen."
no subject
"But it's too late now, unless you want to put the chef's effort to waste."
no subject
He gave a small nod. "If I make my preferences known ahead of time, the cook knows to put all of his effort into it."
no subject
"But once people have a strong impression it's hard to change it, even if there are facts stating the opposite."
no subject
He said it almost as if posing a question, mulling over something philosophical and immaterial, rather than making judgments about those around him.
no subject
Time to call him out. She set her chopsticks aside for the moment, though she clearly wasn't done with her bowl -- it was still hot and tasty, but his presence was starting to bother her too much. The looks the other day, and now purposely sitting here. Even if it was her that initiated conversation, she was sick of beating around the bush and wanted to know why he was there.
no subject
At least, that was how he presumed they were treating her, given the rumors spreading through the town about the murder.
no subject
Hm. She had to wonder.
"Call me curious, but you don't know any red heads do you?"
no subject
Most of the ones he knew, after all, were from the other side of the world. They were significantly different enough from this one that he had already discarded them as candidates for where he found this girl familiar from.
"Is there a reason for such a question?"

"After all, why else would you so casually sit next to me, knowing what you do."
no subject
Still, that didn't mean he wouldn't at least make an attempt to misdirect her. What good shinobi wouldn't? "I know that you're the one these people suspect...and I know that you were here earlier as well." He spoke in the same volume as her, voice reasonable, as if attempting to reason with her. "But what sort of a person does what's being said about you, and then remains where they've committed a crime once they know they're under suspicion? Didn't I tell you? I don't like to make assumptions about people without giving them the chance to prove me wrong first."
no subject
A beat, however, and she added, "Besides, it's not like there is a way for me to prove your suspicions wrong save for busting whoever really did it, and it's not like I have time to investigate thoroughly."
no subject
And it was far more amusing to see how she dealt with the situation now that she failed to avoid it than to simply wander off and leave her be.
no subject
It was almost like she was being analyzed, prey or something of the like...

He finally turned to his own food, and shook his head. "I'm disappointed that you would assume I am as quick to judge as the rest of the town. I suppose that means you consider me a fool." He sighed, as if disappointed, or perhaps resigned.
That really was insulting of her. "Do you think it will be safe for you to sleep here while the entire town believes you murdered someone?"
no subject
And she already knew he wasn't. As for his second question, she merely shook her head at him and rested her chopsticks across the half-finished bowl, signifying that she was done, "And sleeping here's still safer than sleeping in the woods or on the road. It'd only be more dangerous if I was here alone."
