Test Drive Post!
Sunshineverse | ||||
Okay everyone, it's time to test some people out! The rules of the game are simple. You have a character you would like to try out as a native to the setting of this game. You want to see if this is the right setting to play said character in, right? Well, then all you have to do is drop them into this post as a top level comment with this as the header: Character name | Series (OC's just put Original here) | Planned Village Affiliation Then you comment around and play with everyone else! If you need some ideas on how to get started, you can drop your character in during the middle of a mission, have them at an eatery around their village, or maybe even just doing weapons practice. It's up to you how you want to set out, so feel free to put your characters in this version of the Naruto universe however it most seems appropriate. Just be sure to say where you put them somewhere in your post though, otherwise two people might not even be threading in the same country. One last thing! Remember that your character was born in this universe, so whatever else you decide, your character is a world native, even if they might be a tourist in the village you decided to test them out on. And that's it. Just be good to each other and have fun! Threads you do here can count toward future activity checks, so long as the person you're threading with gets in too. These threads can also be used for samples on your application.

Public Libraries will always attract this lover of words to it like a moth to a flame. That is, once he is allowed to be in said libraries. Once he is this 4'5 creature happily delves into various scrolls and journals while taking notes of the differences noted from one village to another or even one country from another on a certain subject or point of history.

People watching is a favorite past time when he has the time to just sit and soak in everyone coming and going around him. Sometimes he even does a quick sketch of a scene that somehow catches his eye. Doodles, and quick profile drawings of people. Maybe you caught a sketch of yourself or just like to look at decent art, even if it is just doodles on scraps of paper.

Not all visits are quick and easy and sometimes paperwork is a necessary evil, even when you have travel papers and a missive explaining why you are visiting all these countries. There is also the fact some people just are wary or outsiders especially one who looks so odd compared to others.

Market places! So much to do and see, and possibly a chance to find some new tea blend to send back to Dori as a souvenir with his next still alive and in one piece letter. Maybe there's some new types of ink and pens for him to try out.

(Choose your own adventure! Also all prompts are vague mc'vague for everyone's convenience. So godmode whatever village or country they meet in.)

Naturally, their first stop is in Kumogakure, still in Lightning Country proper. It's probably the most impressive shinobi village in existence, but then, the towering spires carved into the surrounding mountain range is appreciably similar to 'home' enough to be comfortably familiar.
Could do without the sheer drop between buildings sometimes, though.
Nori's hand finds its way to Ori's shoulder and slowly steers him through the village gate.
"Home'a the nation's military an' all that," he says with a wave of his free hand, sharp eyes picking out shadows on the rooftops. "Nice place, all fings considered, I s'pose."
I'm surprised your face isn't plastered on all the walls of this place
It was one thing to wander out when Dori went trading and such and quite another to be out and really understanding that all of these people left themselves out in the open of the elements. It was so very odd compared to the geometric shapes and carved stones he had grown up surrounded by. Here everything seemed to be squares stacked on top of squares until they finally decide to use a different shape.
"Do you think anyone has ever fallen off a walkway?"
Because that is a very large drop.
he knows better than to cause too much trouble so close to home~
"Y'get used to it. Learn t' predict the weather an' find cover 'for it gets too bad." Reluctantly, he let Ori's shoulder go, fingers flexing despite knowing his brother's reasonably safe here.
"I'm sure it happens, usually on purpose one way 'r another. Long as you're careful, you'll be alright though." Not the most comforting thing he's ever said, but he tries not to lie too much to his own kin.
"Big building in the center's where all the important people do their work. Kage's at the top a'course. Don't fink we'll manage t' get a word with him, not the nicest a'people. Plenty else t' do though, decent library an' all."
In other words you just haven't been caught yet.
Though he does turn from looking at an odd sort of wear and tear on one side of a building to stare at Nori for a moment.
"Of course on purpose, though everyone pretends it was an accident as well I bet."
But, then you said library and all thoughts of people falling or being shoved off a mountain is forgotten. Luckily Ori has never needed to use a political mask because his face gives away all of his emotions over the prospect of knowledge.
"Is it public or is it one of those must be an actual citizen to even look at?"
he might have a couple deals in place to keep it that way
"Part of it's public," he says with a shrug, then a casual little wink. "But if there're other books you might need, I'll see what I can do."
The great building looming down the face of the mountain peak looks rather intimidating, but Nori can see a hundred different exits already. Just in case someone took offense to him helping his little brother out.
"What is it yer studyin' again? Foreign policy?"
Of course you do
"And how treaties affect each nation differently. Some of elder historians think it's a good idea to keep up with how these countries form and break their alliances so that way if we open up new trade routes we won't get tricked into being an enemy of another nation by accident."
no subject
"Politics an' all that, then. Never had the patience fer most'a it meself."
He lifts a hand in a mild wave at a shinobi looking down at them from his perch and grins to see their expression shift to disdain at having been caught out.
"Gonna be some unreliable information layin' about. S'pose it's why we've got some travellin' t' do."
It's all going to be one massive headache, because there's hardly a worse time to go on an international research trip.
no subject
"At least not as much as it was supposed to be. Someone else has to travel all the way to the Iron Hills and get their itinerary from Lord Dain's scribes."
And wouldn't that travel destination have caused something considering how close to Erebor that way lead. Dori may have broken Ori's leg or something to keep him home if he had volunteered to go with that Master Scribe.
"I'm just supposed to visit as many places as I can in half a year before reporting back."
Yes, he's a little disappointed by that.
no subject
"Yer an adult now, Kenji, even if some fink otherwise." Dori, really. He loops a companionable arm around Ori's shoulders and steers him forward with determination.
"Tell you what. If you want, once all this blows over, we'll have some right proper adventures together. Jus' leave ol' fusspot t' me."
no subject
All these negative thoughts though are pushed to the back of his mind as he perks up at the thought of what such adventures would mean. Face already gaining a hopeful look as let's Nori physically lead him through the streets.
"Does this mean you'll teach me some things that you couldn't while we were at home?" Even if it did mean having to listen to Dori grumble and complain about Nori over such, it would be worth it to learn more and see how Nori did things.
no subject
"Some fings, but I'd like t' keep livin', so not all'a it. Gonna work on survival skills while yer out here an' all that. Might even get you a proper weapon. How's that sound?"
no subject
"Are you sure we'll find a proper one up here? Everything does seem more suited to taller beings."
He really didn't have much faith in the crafting skills of most tall folk to begin with.
no subject
"I got a couple fings you can try, but if not, I know just where t' go, don' you worry. We'll find ya somefin' good."
He pat Ori on the back once more as they crested a landing and hopped forward to open the door with a flourishing bow. "The library, master scribe."
